Hey guys, small update. Small break from the empire.

After seeing a squad or ultramarines in the recent white dwarf, I’ve decided it would be ace to paint up a 3rd company ultramarines army (the red and blue looks stunning), you guys have any ideas around building the force?
Here’s a tester model im working on.

Also messing around with coarse pumice, to give the bases more interesting,

As always comments and criticism all appreciated, any ideas on the 3rd company would be awesome too.

Cheers Selvaggio, i really am looking forward to doing them.

Hey guys,
Been working on this over the last few days, instead of the ultramarine guy prototype (which i will do soon). But when inspiration hits you got to roll with it. Especially with a big detailed model like this which has been sat on my desk for 2 years waiting for its turn in the spotlight.

The reasoning behind this being in my army,
its a construct commissioned from Marienburg to Nuln. The idea was as Marienburg is not part of the Empire it does not have access to the Steamtank. So Nuln Engineers designed and built this contraption based on the steamtank. The technology behind the steamtank, is largely forgotten after its inventor died. So they came up with this beast. Its a damn site bigger then a steam tank because they couldn’t make a boiler that small which could power a vehicle. And is shaped like a boat as Marienburg is a trade/Port city.

Im includeding it in my army because i decided much like Marienburg, Ostermark cannot have a steam tank whenever they need it. The Steamtanks are too few and far between. So the count has commissioned one of these for his own province to fill the gap (most likely bankrupting the province in the process), after hearing of its somewhat success at the siege of Nuln.

Heavily inspired by a guys work on a steam tank, davetaylorminiatures. And also 17th 18th century ships.

With the main body there is only really shields and sea critters on the bottom that need to be done. But there are still the wheels, flag, crew cannon, then base to do etc. So there is plenty left. Seriously recommend this model. Forgeworld.
This is a bit of a teaser, so stay tuned,

Comments and criticism all appreciated

Hey guys, small update, ive been busy this week so not much to show off on the progress front,
But here is a still WIP ultramarines sergeant, i really do love the red on blue. It is so strikeing. Still stuff to do. Was debating if i am going to do battle damage, but I’m thinking of not. I like the clean look.

Also made some progress on the base for my Landship. Really looking forward to adding a stream and some grass and such. Not sure how I will do the stream yet, but that’s tomorrows problem.

As always comments and criticism is always welcome

I'm not really a fan of Ultrasmufs but your sergeant looks great!
And I love your Empire stuff, especially the Hurricanum and the landship!
I recommend Transparent Tallejo Water Effect for the stream by the way. Really great stuff.

Thanks Igandris, going to have to look it up and give it a try.

Hey Guys, Bit of a busy week. Not much to show.

I’ve done more work on the Landship base, made some of the rocks look like they have the green mossy stuff you usually see around streams. Also going to make it a tad dark at the bottom. Its a very fun base to work on and i can’t wait till i put on tonnes of tufts and grass.

But more importantly, some progress has been made on the Ultramarines. The beginnings of the 1st tactical squad. I will call them unofficially Squad “Caboose”, shout out to those who get this. I myself have never liked ultrasmurfs either. However i have fallen in love with the 3rd companies colour scheme. I am wondering what to arm the squad with, i was thinking multi-melta and flamer, but i need to consult with my advisors first before i go harvesting my devastator bits.

Hey guys,

Made some serious head way on squad ‘Caboose’ and i will be able to show of a complete unit tomorrow.

Another Empire update, this time something heavy. Not as heavy as the steam tank but blooming lethal none the less. The mighty Demigryph’s! There was a white dwarf with different chapters that use Demi’s. My chapters is one (or based on one of those), i don’t remember the name.

They are massively battered, they have seen a great many battles so lances have snapped, shields torn off, banners broke etc, so you can see damage which has been repaired. Going to have to give them a make over session soon to tidy up damage.

Any way Tadah!

Im also working on (and off for a few months,) a second command for a second unit of Demi’s so i can split them into two units of 4. They are made up and basecoted, and used in games. But they are not finished.

When i started on my teutogen guard, i decied i wanted to do a mounted unit. I was hugely inspired by a conversion somewhere online with the Fenrisian wolves in so i decided to incorporate them in too.

They have been affectionately dubbed by an opponent as ‘the Starks’.

Last thing in the all mounted update, one of the most kick ass characters in the empire, im my opinion. Luther ‘Big Hammer’ Huss. With a nice looking horse.

I’ve not decided why the white wolves have such a large presence in Ostermark yet, maybe you guys can give me an idea or two.

As always comments and criticism all welcome.

Greetings Citizens of Ultra,

Squad ‘Caboose’ (sod it, that’s the official name now) is done. Weapons checked, joints greased and ready for some skull stomping.

Massive amount of fun painting and modelling these guys, you got to love the vast amount of kits you can nick bits from when it comes to marines.

Also played around with the Pomez stuff, really adds charcter to the unit and i will be using it alot more in the future. Also first time messing around with GW Barbed wire which is pretty cool, i will be looking into other makes. Tonne of fun when you play with rocks, barbed wire and pomez at once and you can create cool bases with ease.

Pics!

Once again 3rd Comp. Is such a cool colour scheme!
Plasma Cannon,

Scare Head,

And finally some bog standard marines, no fancy gear, or showing off. Just doing the emperors work.

Been having a chat with my advisors, assorted allies and servitors (im a big fantasy player, not so clued up on 40k lists), and have come up with a list of things I’m going to be includeding into the army (which im planning to sell after i’ve had a good few games with).

librarian:140 terminator armour, storm shield, force axe

Captain: 130 relic blade

command sqaud: 150 company standard flamer X4

techmarine:75 servo harness servitor(1):10

Terminator assault sqaud(5): 200 thunder hammer, storm shields

Tactical sqaud(10): 225 plasma cannon, melta gun, combi flamer rhino

Tactical sqaud(10): 225 plasma cannon, melta gun, combi flamer rhino

scouts:180 missile launcher, 4 sniper rifles, 5 shotguns camo cloaks

land speeder storm:60 heavy flamer

landspeeders(2):150 3x multimelta, heavy flamer

Land raider redeemer: 265 multimelta, extra armour,

stormraven gunship:201 assault cannon, multimelta, searchlight

vindicator:125 extra storm bolter,

Comes in at over 2000 pts. You can make a few solid lists with a few extra units to swap in and out for fun, and im going to magnetize a lot of stuff in the army. (one thing im considering is adding more heavy weapon marines so the tact squads can have their load out changed, so instead of 20 marines it would be 24 total)

This army is missing a few key Space Marine icons like predators and dreadnaughts, but I’m personally loving this list. I can’t wait to get cracking with it.

Any thoughts on the list or Squad ‘Caboose’, feel free to drop a comment below and leave some feedback.

P.s. i had a game with the Orks at my local club. Incredaibly fun army to play with. Made some dumb mistakes in the game. Killed alot of Nurgles finest, got alot of Orks kills. Game was cut short and my opponent won by 1 point, which was first blood (a truck). In future I’d like to take a camera a note book and maybe do a real battle report of the armies i plan to sell. Just to show them off in action.

Hey guys been a while since an update. Unfortunately after getting psyched up on ultramarines the army will be postponed by a month or so for the new book.

However... another army has stepped out into my sights, Lizardmen. Stay tuned.

Anyway this is something i have been working on for the past few days. A light box rig! 2 years or so ago, i watched a video that inspired my to dust of my vampires and start paint my hordes of skeletons. This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfBuzTbOndw. I love every thing about this and i would like to do the same to showcase my own models.

So i have a turn table, i will get my hands on a good old cam, and over the next week or so i shall learn how to make a kick ass video!

Granted its not to pretty at the moment, but you’re not meant to see the jerry rigged box, just the end results

In other news, a small amount of progress on the land ship. The crew are being picked off one by one when the muse hits me.

So much to paint on this beast, so much.

As always comments and criticism all greatly appreciated,

Thanks

The recipe has been developed, refined, lost and forgotten, re-developed and re lost, ect, its inconsistent through some units. This is fine for the empire, they would have inconsistent dyes for the uniforms (excuse )

The current one I’m using which I think is the original is a base of liche purple (old GW, or Vallejo royal purple ).

Then a layer of Warlock (old GW, or Vallejo magenta), leavening the recess’ liche purple. This will take 2-3 coats, as it’s a weak colour.

Then after that its building up 2-3 highlights, using a watered down Warlock or magenta and gradually adding more bleached bone or ushabi bone to folds in the cloth, edges or where two colours of the uniform meet. This will be gradually built up so the previous highlight can still be seen.

Then a final extreme highlight of the bleached bone or ushabi bone on key areas like the end of cloth or a hard fold, or wherever looks cool.

Its takes a bit of time, but i like it. it also looks very odd untill the high lights are added.

I may stick up a tutorial when i do the crow’s nest guy.

The finished crows nest guy, with tattoos.

With knuckle tattoos too. his right says good, and the left dead, i have no idea why, the guy must just be a little mad.

Then the rest of the finished crewmen, still two left.

(lower eyelid needs cleaning )

Hey guys, been a while.

I have been busy learning video editing and assembling equipment to do videos to accompany my finished projects.

Here is my prototype learning HD video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCj0aO9zlfI please check it out.

This is of my Ultramarines, manly to see if the finished item looks good. So i would love you guys to check it out , and leave some feedback on the video itself. Ive already received some helpful comments adn have ideas about the next video., which will be a showcase of the orks in full HD beauty.

Any way, in other news i have also been busy piecing this together.

New kits are astonishing. The terradon/ripperdactyls are stunning, so dynamic. Cant wait for the unit to be painted. Still stuff to do. Magnetizeing the stegadon, and also sorting out some finecast guys and jungle swarms.
There will be more saurus, 64 in total. A few will be on unit fillers to add height to the regiments with temple ruins. Once i find some 50mm bases.
Here is a prototype paint scheme im leaning towards. Not sold on the base yet. Too cluttered IMO. But i do want a jungle theme so i will have to get hold of some aquatic plastic plants.

Still rough around te corners but tis just an idea of what i want at this stage.
As always comments and criticism all welcome.

Hey guys, smallish update. Had a few days to go mental and start on painting the army. Tonnes of boring base coating done, on the skinks and sarus whilst trying to get up to date on Breaking bad. Which is my new favourite show (half way though season 4).

The first unit of saurus, 30 lizards nearly done, a few guys at the back just need there skin and highlights, and bases. The guys near the front are done par shields and flocking. (shields are all on sprues, gonna blast them out with a spray gun).

So some dullish WIP’s so far. Hopefully the unit will be done and fully based by the end of today or tomorrow.

In other news i did play a game with them against orcs and gobbo’s at a local store. Amazing game, so much fun. Both armies were levelled at the end. But the lizards won on Victory points. Not a lot of dead units but many regiments running around with a few guys left. Foot of Gork is such a powerhouse spell, really changes the game when it works.
Ripeprdaycls are amazing, great at at killing orcs, especially with the initative drop they have. Still plenty of rules i was forgetting so need to re read the Liz.book but I’m loving the army. considering taking them to Throne Of Skulls Oct.?

As always please drop a comment and feedback.

P.S. don’t forget to check out the video in the above post.

Thanks for the step-by-step on the purple. You're a life-saver.
Video is good. Suitable length, enough angles on the minis and enough close-ups. Musics ok. Good work.

Lizards look good. I don't think the base is too cluttered but a darker ground might be a bit more "jungle". Maybe use some leaf litter too?
Are you getting a Troglodon at some point? I'm keen to see how you'd paint one.

Hey guys,
Cheers Igandris for the feedback on the video. I’ve loads of ideas about how to improve it next. Also added more to the bases too. I may buy the Troglodon in future, but i will most likely use the alternanat build with the scar vet. Rider. Not a fan of the trog. But for now i think i have everything i want in the army. Looks like a stunning kit though

Here is a shot of the first unit so far. Still figuring out what i want the bases to be like (think the plastic jungle plants will get a wash of green), im going to add more jungle plants here and there. Just figuring it out.

And here is a shot of my practice base. Trying to work out the best way to attach that weird thick root grass stuff, i think the best way is to drill holes and slot them in one at a time. Time consuming but sturdy. They are too small to glue.

Went to a local pet store and got these babies. Between considering buying a fish tank, and being eyeballed by a thuggish looking rabbit, i managed to get them on offer, result. Big leaves will be for large monster bases. They will clutter small bases in my opinion.

Hey guys, small update again, lots of progress not so much to show.

Lot of work on the core of the army, they should be done by the end of the day and ready for some greener to be added to bases.
Straight too it then. (expect better photo’s when they are based, which will be real soon!) and once the core is donw i get to paint fun things

And skinks, these guys are cool. Had a few games with them and im loving the multiple poison shots.

In other more awesome news, second video on the Dark reapaz is up, ‘Da boyz are back in town’ (unofficial name). Please check it out, still an issue with lights. But I’ve since invested in a good light box which came with its own lights (it was around 60% off yay.)

In other news, to treat myself ive decided to paint something very close to my heart. Fences. Citdel Fences. Im a sucker for scenery and im hoping to slowly build up my collection, fully painted and finish flocking my board.

Anyway thanks guys and as always, comments and questions all welcome.

Yay! More pics!

Bases look good as do the Lizardmen. Love the red hands (and feet) on the skinks. Great little detail.
The metal looks really good too.

Videos are good too. I don't know if the still shots are necessary with the 360 view but they don't hurt either.

100% correct on the pics. in the videos, I’ve already noticed it and in future the pics will be showing areas not seen in the videos. Like inside trucks or details.

Cheers on the lizards, not much to show off really lots of work done but its the same guys over and over, can’t wait for the bases to be done and i have something to show.

Music wise yeh, orks are normally heavy metal stuff. The stuff i use if free as long as you credit the guy who made it. Otherwise i may have to pay or have music muted... personally i love the sporadic metal Meky workshop stuff.

Hey guys, another cold blooded update.
More progress on the lizards, Finally a light at the end of the tunnel as the last of the major units has been painted (still have 4 left to do, but i don’t have the models yet ). The Temple guard. Really tough unit to paint, so much going on and it took longer then i wanted. (still need to put on aquatic plants, will do that in bulk when a few units are done)

Also Salamanders, struggled to come up with a colour choice, my army is not to far off from the GW paint scheme. So i ended up copying what they went for and it worked, will be doing something similar for the ripperdactlys .

I got some of the new Space marine kits, and after much soul searching about what chapter to do for my own personal army. I decided to stand firm and continue with my Blood Angels (started a while ago and did not get far at all.)
So here is the beginnings Stern guard unit im working on. They will eventually be 10 strong, may not best option ever, may not get played as 10 but they will look cool. And rule of cool trumps all other rules. Im thinking two heavy flamers and as many combi flamers as i can take (they are only 5pts for the BA’s).
Can you imagine a land raider ramp dropping and 10 heavly armed bas@%#ds walking out spraying liquid death every where. Brings a tear to my eye... yeh!

Amazing kit, i would not have ever considered sternguard if it was not for this kit.

In other news i did an unboxing of the new Stern/Van guard kits and the tactical kit on my youtube channel. Will do more in future too so check it out. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmCSJS8XVaQBYNncjsjXf7A
