Ive been showing interest towards a fist PRE-HERESY First company army for ages, but, Ive had to sort of settle on non-heresy era goals.... So my question is, could it be possible to field a full 1st company of Imperial fists? If so, would it be an apocalypse army? If not then how would it work. Im genuinely perplexed as it whether its doable, so please get back to me when you can

Depending on how you built it it might be something you'd have for apocalypse.
If you wanted to actually have all veterans then it'd need to be an apocalypse army.
If you were willing to use regular tactical marines then you could build it.

As purplefood said, you can't build a legal army with just veterans with the Marine Codex. You could run them as Dark Angels Deathwing with a Belial counts-as, though.

My friend owns an Ultramarines 1st Company (I inspired him with my own 2nd Company).

It uses Codex Marines and Blood Angel Allies. All models are Sternguard, Vanguard and vaious Terminators.

It's a large army that has too many units and points to be used in a normal game.

The first company POST Heresy is 10 Landraiders, 50 terminators, 50 veterans, 10 rhinos, and a bunch of extras.

PRE-heresy?! A company back then, is a chapter today. That's a collection that you'll never be able to feild.

Somebody did the workup on a chapter about a week ago and it came out to like 10k pts or something of that variety.

Silly question - how do they field Troops? To my recollection none of the UM or BA characters make Sternguard, Vanguard or Termies troops as far as the FOC is concerned.
Or do they only play apocalypse?

He uses the models so that they look like veterans. The bloodangels provide troops with jump packs.

You could run Tyberos the Red Wake from IA 10 from the Carcharadons. He allows 1 squad of Assault Termies as Troops and IIRC Assault Marines all equiped with Shields too? Either way, you could also have Tactical Squads with shields which is very Imperial Fisty. Land Raider Achilles, and then Termies and Sternguard as Elites and Vanguard or Caestus Assault Ram as FA, wich is again ery much IF.

Failing that, try 4 scout squads attached to the company as support at 2kpts+ and have 6 Elites and FA to play around with. Or 2 a single FOC.

Using C:SM and 1 FOC, you can field 30 terminators/Sternguard Vets and 30 Vanguard vets, that would almost certainly push you over 2k points though giving you access to a second FOC. thats asuming you wanted to base the force primarily around Veterans though (which seems likely given you want it to be a first company army).

Taking Pedro would allow you to field Sternguard as scoring troops, so its quite possible to base an army on a first company, and 30 sternguard would certainly fit into a normal sized game, but then you are left with having to use tac squads or scouts as your compulsory troops

Alternatively, you could use the DA codex and field a yellow deathwing army, i doubt many people would have a problem as long as it was WYSIWYG and you could even include Lysander in the army as an ally.

So it is possible to get an army using a standard FOC that contains lots of veterans of any variety, however there will still be non veterans in your army
