Lets say Chaos invaded destroyed cities, towns etc... Imperial forces won the war and now are rebuilding. How long would it take to rebuild the planet? For the sake of the discussion the planet is roughly 70% in ruins.
The US alone rebuilt Iraq in about 9 years and fought an insurgency...
Based on that little tid bit about Iraq; planet wide construction and cooperation, along with servitors, and a much better technology I am guessing about 5 years...

considering that Billions of people live on each planet and surrounding planets, probably not that long at all.

It probably depends a lot on the planet, and on the ones nearby. Planets in the imperium are notoriously overspecialized, heavily depending on other planets in their sub-sectors to provide the goods required for the planet to survive (which, if the only thing your planet produced was Leman Russes, then that would be everything... well... apart from battle tanks).
If the situation is unstable, though, then good luck. The Imperium isnt' going to be able to ship in all the raw goods and labor required if those same chaos forces are now attacking the next unit in the supply chain.
On the other hand, if what you produced was capital unintensive (like, say, an agricultural world), then it would be pretty easy to rebuild, as they'd more or less just need to drop off some colonists with shovels. I can imagine that rebuilding a forgeworld, on the other hand, might take a century to get back up to full production.

Consider it takes decades to make one spacecraft, longer if it's the size of a battleship. Rebuilding a planet? Depends what it is. A hive is going to take decades.

It also depends where they get thd manpower from. If normal population growth is required on the world alone then it would take longer compared to half of the population from a nearby hive being conscripted and transported across in a big navy troop transport to help with the effort.

Indeed. I really feel appreciated. Apparently the time my countrymen and myself spent protecting GOSPs and fixing roads while looking out for/clearing IEDs doesn't really count.
On topic, I think we need to define what we mean by "rebuild".

You and I have different definitions of rebuilding aparently because based on "That tidbit about Iraq" and factoring in billions of people and servitors: 1,347 years. Just to restore indoor plumbing to the capital city.

The Imperium can do pre-fab buildings *very* well, so I think the infrastructure could be rebuilt fairly easily.

Hence why I stayed out of the Iraq part of the conversation, I was in Iraq and for the sake of dakka I just didn't want to get into that over a forum thread.

I would have to say it depends on several factors, namely: How big is the system? What is the importance of the system? How many forces can afford to be displaced/sent to the system as part of the committed rebuilding force? However, considering how quickly the Imperium operates and all the extraordinary devices that could be utilized, I would have to say anywhere from ten to twenty years, working at full capacity, but maybe longer.

I did not mean to offend anyone on the Iraq thing. I was not there so I am a bit ignorant. I should not have said US alone. I appreciate all the countries that give military support to the US and its allies. I appreciate everyone's service whether your not a US service member or not. I was trying to give an example based off of real world circumstances. Not to offend or sound like I feel my country is better than anyone's country.

Well, Iraq is kinda different. They have lower buildings and larger spaces.
How long did it take to rebuild Berlin after WW2?
I think that would be a better frame of referance as they were almost leveled entirely.
