I've searched high and low, but I can't seem to find anything on traveling overseas with minis past what you do at security. Here is my situation. I am moving to Argentina in January to teach English and I want to paint while I am there. I am not really concerned with gaming. I figured I would pack new stuff on the sprue in my suitcase and just bubblewrap it. That way it would save space and be protected. I also figured I would get a paint set like the big one GW sells since each individual pot is under the volume limit for liquid that a container can carry. Brushes, clippers, and files should be fine as long as I check them in my luggage. I figure I can find whatever else I need there. They do have a Wal-Mart right outside Buenos Aires so I figure I can find basing materials there if needed. Does this plan sound solid? Any advice?

I think my main problem will be trying to paint and not spending all of my free time drinking and chasing girls. The booze is about half as much as back home and the girls twice as pretty. Oh and you know teaching kids English and stuff.

This has come up quite a few times before, mostly in conjunction with internal US airtravel.

I would suggest a KR case within a suit case would be best for protected transport but that is a guess - worth a look though.

I'd also suggest putting a strip of tape over the bottles (unless screw-cap dropper bottles) just as an added precaution so it takes that little bit more to make them open.

And put them in ziploc bags, so that if some leak, they don't all get gummed up with paint. Nor do your clothes or anything else you've packed with them.

New on sprue is fine packed in the manner you put forward. Alternatively, clip the bits out to save space. I'm sure space will be at a premium if you are heading out to make a new life in Argentina.

Also, what made you choose Argentina as a teaching destination (professional curiosity on my part)?

That, my friend, is called a joke. Argentina is actually an incredible cultural experience. They call Buenos Aires the "Paris of South America" as it is very European. Also, if any of you are ever there, go to Patagonia in the south. The tickets are expensive because of tourism, but the first time I was there, I stayed in a beautiful hostel at the foot of the Andes, swam with sea lions, and watched the sun rise in the southernmost city in the world. Truly an incredible experience.
