Now, in 2013 weve seen the release of namely, the Tau.
Who got a, at first, an awesomely huge model called the XV104 Riptide.
Then the Eldar being the newest 6th edition release got the WraithKnight.
Which quote GW "And you thought the Riptide was big".
So this leaves me wondering about the rumors of space marines,
Possibly Black Templars and Orks (Waaagh)
What will or could they get To tower over the latest competition...
I can see the Orks getting something like Da Krushing Krusha.
Which is gigantic Deff Dread with some insane weaponry at a lower point cost than most big things.
Anyway. Do you think they will keep the big things going or will they try not to milk the idea much more.

They've been making a LOT of big plastic models of late. And it goes beyond WH40k and into their WHFB line. What comes to mind is that big Vampire Counts chariot with all the spirits and stuff. (This thing: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat720006a&prodId=prod1460002a )
As for Orks, I could totally see a third, bigger class of dread.
Maybe with options to make it a Mek's personal war machine, with like a Shokk Attack Gun or something in addition to a bazillion other guns and buzzsaws? I remember there was a Mek's Dread in a recent WD in the kitbashing section.

Why does everyone keep on about "new big models"?
Trygon, tervigon etc have been around ages.
Dreadknight has been around a while now too.
Riptide was not the start of it.

Big models can make great centerpieces for your army. Many gamers like them and you can usually do lots of cool things and different things with them. They usually sell well unless the model is crap. Or if they don't end up being worth the points cost.

My guess is Orks get plastic Mega Dreds. They're already made by Forge World.
Space Marines could get Dreadknights but I doubt it.
Nids already have the Tervigon and Tyrannofex, although I could see them getting Hirodules. That would invalidate their existence as Gargantuan creatures though.

Which means they won't get it. GW have been making a concious effort to not cannibalise FW's range, since it doesn't grow their range.
Orks will definitely get a big junkyard walker, it just won't be a mega dread, at least in name.

Orks might get a large tank instead, or something biological.
The above stated seems to be a rule GW has stuck by recently, they don't eat into forgeworld's profits by duplicating.
So I'd be surprised indeed for orks to get a megadred when they already have a megadred.

I'd argue that the big monstrous creature trend has been going back longer than people are acknowledging. Lets track this back.
Eldar - Wraithknight
Tau - Riptide
DA - non
Chaos - Fiends and Drake (Technically Vehicles and not MC's, but really look a them)
Necrons - Canoptek Spyders.
Grey Knights - Dreadknight
Blood Angels - Mephiston.

and hes all on a 25mm base
the fiends though really arent that big... though i would admit about 2 standard dreds of depth just no height to them

I'd say that the Triarch Stalker (possibly the Monolith) is the big monster for the Necrons.

The problem with 'big and biological' with Orks translates to 'squig'. Forgeworld already does a regular and a giant squig.
A bigger tank would be a good guess, but it doesn't fill the 'giant monster on an oval base' gap.

The way I see it is, with nids you expect to see big bugs.
And the dreadknight and riptide are pretty big, but not horrifically so.
I think that the wraithknight really is taking it too far though. It's basically a titan, but...wait for it... it gets cover for standing in area terrain
A dreadknight size wraithlord would be cool, but a titan in normal 40k is nuts

I'm interested to see what kind of changes they make to the Tyranids. If they add any new MC's or make any significant changes to existing MC's. All the MC's in the 6th edition codexes seem pretty good especially compared to the majority of the Tyranid MC's. The Wraithlord makes my Carnifex want to curl up in a ball and cry, and my Trygon doesn't want to even go near the new Wraithknight. I would like to see MC's be the Tyranid's domain without just spamming 2-3 variants.

I love the sound of something Biological, maybe a Tyranid MC with a Weirdboy riding it like a monstrous Steed and a Gretchin with a cannon mounted on its head.... That would piss my friend off so much...

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Tyranid Carnifexes stay about as powerful as they are, but get significant points drops. The idea being Tyranids don't send just one Carnifex to kill heavy opposition, they send a brood. Right now, Carnifex broods do hit hard, they're just too expensive.
Tervigons I would expect to see stay about the same. Right now, they're good support creatures. Maybe adding the ability to get them to mastery level 2. Tyrannofexes I'd be shocked to not see them get a BS increase and a points drop. They're just not accurate enough right now, and too expensive. Trygons are about where they should be as fast brawler MCs.
I really do expect one more dual MC kit, if only because they can. I really want to see a kit that makes a reimagined Dactylis and Haruspex. Dactylis would be kind of like a Tyranid Basilisk/Manticore, long range artillery. Add flakk ammo, and you've got a new kit that'll sell itself. Put in a Haruspex option, a slow, super tough linebreaker assault MC, and you'll have rounded out the Tyranid MCs.

It might not necessarily be a dread or mech of any kind. It could be a giant squig or some other monster.
As for the space marines/BT did GW ever rule out the plastic thunderhawk from the WD a few months ago? Never heard what was up with that stuff. Guess I need to pay better attention.
I'd also be interested to see if the guard get anything big and stompy... maybe a super sentinel or a dinosaur. I can't say either of those would be a bad addition.

I wouldn't mind seeing a focus on more broods of MCs with some independent characters that can help support the unit (IE venomthrope as an IC). Cheaper MCs that aren't as powerful as the most recent 6th edition MCs but can be taken in bulk. Something my wallet would hate but I would like to play. Right now the point cost pushes a lot of our MCs into the ineffective range.
