*groan*

This is going to be another really spendy Kickstarter.

I reckon RH should consider releasing a completionist pledge for the heroines - I'm probably going to buy them all!

Less enthused about the Troops and Support, though.

Depends on how many $10 Heroines there are to choose from, I guess. Also, I would hope that the $15 and $20 Heroines are more complicated and/or bigger (not necessarily taller) sculpts than the $10 ones.

Bigger or complicated doesn't mean gak if you only get 3 off versus 6.50 off. Which was my point. Picking and choosing facts doesn't mean your point is correct.

Does anyone know if they've mentioned adding additional units beyond what's been shown so far? At the moment, I'm only really interested in pledging for Drusilla, but if a whole squad of jetgirls was offered...

The Jet girls are slated for release when they release their Ruleset, later on.

Their ruleset meaning a Raging Heroes ruleset

I'm sure that this one will turn out fine, and we'll all be happy in the end.

Sure, some of us will pull our pledges before it is all over, but...

..guess what happens when you use a crowdfunding site to fund something?

The crowd votes with their wallets, and voices their opinions.

Shocking, I know.

A $240K 'day' (that started at 11AM USA EST and 4PM UK/France time!) no less!

I don't think it is over the top to be a little disappointed in 1 anemic update and not a lot of 'unlocks', as well as a somewhat disjointed and confusing main page.

Still - we're all fans here, and I'll be in for the long haul!

Anyone know if we can use the 'heavy support' slots for the bikes and mechs?

Be careful, Alph. I have it on good authority that picking and choosing facts doesn't mean your point is correct.

I agree with you though. This one is going to work out fine. Moving to plastic or not is will determine my final pledge amount. Other have their own goalposts. Man, I can't believe Tannhauser42 dropped a grand on this straight out the gate. Then again, a plastic SoB army is pretty tempting - especially with these figures.

Okay...question, since I've never actually donated to a Kickstarter before...I have another paycheck coming within the funding period. I'd like to wait until after that so that I can make as large a donation as possible. Is there any danger of the Kickstarter ending early?

You can always up your pledge during and usually after the kickstarter ends. I don't know if it can end early. Not sure what KS rules say about that.

I just messaged them about the possibility of doing a pledge level like the PRIVATE level, only with a troop box as the model choice instead of a heroine. We'll see if they reply.

They say "No, it cannot":

Can projects raise more money than their goal?
Yes. If a project reaches its funding goal before time expires, projects continue to accept pledges until the funding deadline. There is no option to end a project early.

On average, successfully funded projects raise around 130% of their goal.

As I have time to digest this at leisure, it occurs that the number of hero choices are wildly misleading: at least half of the available heroines are greater then $10 (and it's very difficult to discern what actually costs what).

What's more vexing is that there seems to be no rhythm or reason for the pricing.

Spoiler:

Can anyone offer insight to why Kruger is $15, but #42 is $10? Or why a heavy gunner is $15, but a sniper is $10?

As has been observed above, the degree of discount from MSRP is simply mystifying...

Nope, it lasts exactly 32 days from start, and you don't get charged till the end of the KS. I think I've worked out my models just based on what we have unlocked now.

Lieutenant Early Bird - Faction: Kruganova Shock Troops
3x Heroines: Sniper Karmina Noxx, Commander Elektra, and I haven't really decided, but the unlocked Yaga Soul Weaver if we don't get the Orbital Strike Commander or one of the special characters I would prefer.
4x troops: 2x command squads, 2x squads
4x heavy support: If it all gets unlocked, two of the "normal" artillery pieces (1 and 2 seem to have the same weapon) one of artillery 3 (which appears to be a different weapon) and the sniper team

Extra Heroines: I'll probably grab the standard bearer and Kruganova as my extras and even though she's not my army, I am coveting the Necropriestess
Extra troops: 2x squads, 1x Heavy command squad, 2x heavy squads
Extra Support: If the mecha gets unlocked I'll think about it.

Total for me:
$152 (LT EB)
$20 (Extra Heroines)
$90 (extra troops)
$23 shipping
$285

Now this is basically an upgrade to the Commander level, but doing that would actually cost me more to get the squad of heavy infantry I want. Wooo. This Kickstarter is pricey.

----------------------------
Herald Note:
----------------------------

Someone asked here or else where about paying the difference on models. So in my example above with my LT box I get three $10 Heroines, but say I want two $10 Heroines and a $15. It is completely acceptable to increase your pledge and "pay the difference" on that final model per the team. That update will be on the KS FAQ in the near future if not already.

Edit: Buzzsaw, I'm asking for you.

To expand upon what Krinsath said, they cannot successfully close a project early, but you can cancel a project at any time, and no one gets charged. They, uh, probably won't want to do that though.

My best guess is "Games Workshop-style" hero pricing. - essentially based on the role a model has in your force rather than the sculpt, size, amount of metal/etc.

I really want to pledge but I recall reading on here that Raging Heroes is awful with making deadlines. Is that the case or am I thinking of another studio?

You are correct, sir!

Although, in all fairness - virtually every single kickstarter ever has delivered at least somewhat late.

To be fair to Raging Heroes apparently starting a KS from outside the United States is a complete bear and they didn't factor that in when they set their initial launch goals.

Reply from the team for Buzzsaw and others with pricing concerns and questions.

Re: "the number of hero choices is wildly misleading: at least half of the available heroines are greater then $10": No. There are 25 Heroines at 10$ and 13 that are more expensive. So quite less than half. We used 10 dollar as a base, because this makes it the smallest common denominator for pledges as far as heroines as concerned. The same goes for troops and supports.

Re "(and it's very difficult to discern what actually costs what).": The prices of the minis are unclear. They are separated by sections, with heavy lines between sections, and the pricing is repeated several times in each section.*

Re: "Can anyone offer insight to why Kruger is $15, but #42 is $10? Or why a heavy gunner is $15, but a sniper is $10?"
With the experience of our past few years, we've become very aware of how the cost of a miniature can go up significantly because of just a slightly larger amount of metal, and so we price according to our expectations of how much metal will be required for that mini. However, we've also decided to make some of the minis we know will be more costly to produce available at a lower price, because we know that every one is looking for a good deal, so we're picking up the extra cost there.

*Personal note, I didn't have any trouble figuring out what was priced for what from the graphics.

And another note from the team concerning the Kruganova Sisters: (Myself and apparently a feth load of other people asked this one)
Some of you have asked if we would include the three sisters in the TGG Kickstarter.
In the end, we decided not too.
The key reason for this is because we know that it would be unfair to our resellers who already have them in stock and for sale.
As you may recall, the dollar value of TGG Kickstarter miniatures is between 20 to 40% lower than retail pricing, and that's not even counting the additional freebies and extras that will be tucked into the KS. Including the Kurganova sisters in the Kickstarter would mean undercutting retailers, and that's not right.
Retailers and shops are a very important part of the gaming community. They work hard for what is often very little pay to bring you the best possible gaming experience, but at this point in time, they are mostly excluded from the Kickstarter process.
While Kickstarter is an amazing opportunity for the entire gaming industry, its positive impact has not yet really reached the retailers. By the way, that's also one of the reasons we came up with the Drop Ship Programme, that can help pledgers get the TGG KS miniatures in several waves without having to pay additional shipping costs without having to wait for us to complete the entire TGG production.

Thanks for the quick update Kal!

*Snort* I was puzzled by those numbers for a moment, "25 at $10 and 13 at higher"? There certainly don't appear to have 38 available characters... which in fact they do not. That number counts all the unavailable characters as well as the available ones. I made the mistake of going off the above "what is available" image, which is hopelessly out of date (to the point one wonders what it is doing up on the front page...). It appears that they intend to eventually get the ratio to about 2:1, although it is currently at 3:2 (Jailbirds 3:2, Kurganovas 3:1, Iron Empire 3:3).

As for the pricing I am... slightly mollified? It's hard to quibble with their reasoning, but seriously now, to use the example I gave before " Kruger is $15, but #42 is $10", this is off material used? #42 appears to have a refrigerator for an arm an an enormous helmet, and is around 40% discount, while Kruger is a woman with a sword and a pistol, but Kruger would take more metal? Okay....

The list of "heroines" (err, and that one dude...) included below.
