So reviewing the Heroine list, I definitely want the new Ivanka Kruganova sculpt, Commander Elektra, Karmina Noxx and Irina Vega, the Tank Hunter hero sounds like a good pick too. Which gives me a total of 5... might consider the standard bearer and again, that Necropriestess... I want to add a 40mm based with tons of AD Mech iconography and put her in a display case forever.

I can't wait to field these as IG. Seriously, best minis I've ever seen.

I really, really wish there was a longer stretch-goal guide somewhere. I'd like to know when/if One Shot Blondie is going to become available.

They've updated with the next few goals. There is no rhyme or reason to the pricing structure and still no freebies thru $310,000.00.

I mean seriously, 35k for a single model...

So, I got a response from Raging Heroes about a low level pledge with a troop box instead of a heroine.

Loud'n Raging says:

Hi Barzam,

We are considering creating a pledge for this. How many box 5 would you want?

Pretty quick response and glad that they're considering it. And, maybe someone can confirm for me just to be sure, you have to add that $23 for shipping to a basic pledge, right? Or does that only get tacked on if you add in a paid add-on?

I just like to see some consistency on their stretches. This next single model apparently costs more than the multi-part squad coming up.

Add in that we know they were only originally expecting 4,333(average) per model and it's a bit annoying. I am truly hoping this goes plastic though, cause then I'll go nuts.

On the super low pledges like "one heroine" it notes that they cover shipping. You'd have to ask for other levels.

Every pledge pledge requires $23 shipping if you're in the US.

Let's be fair though.

If the model comes as part of a package or they expect to have to ship X of them, they budget it at 4,333 per model. Then they find out that they are actually going to have to package, ship, give away 1000X, that might increase some of their fixed and marginal costs and they decide to up it to 35k per model.

Or they may just be milking the KS cow for all it is worth.

I was hoping to see a few more sculpts on launch.

The new stretch goals do seem to be a little too...stretched out.

They could easily hit 1 mil just saying that's when they go plastic troop boxes.

Project Update 2

Hi again!

We are humbled by what's been happening, achieving, nearly $250,000 and it's not even been 12 hours yet! The first few hours were a total blur. The emotions were overwhelming. Our hands sometimes shook so much we just couldn't type properly on the keyboard. And everything everywhere was calling for our attention, so we were jumping all over the place trying to catch up. There was a moment when we grew so numb that we just sat staring at our computers, not knowing what to click on or what to do... And phone and Skype were merrily ringing every few minutes from friends and family to share their happiness...

But nevertheless, we got quite a few things done...

We've managed to reply to over 100 Kickstarter emails, and that particular mailbox is currently sitting empty! :-)

We've also updated our FAQ (took us over 3 hours to find the button to do this!). We will continue to update it regularly. We also posted replies to our Raging Heralds (bless them all!), who have been relaying recurring questions and concerns and sharing back our replies to the community they belong to.

We also unlocked quite a few many miniatures, without having even the time to Update you about them. As the pledges grew from $12,000 to $225,000, we unlocked 14 stretch goals: 8 Heroines, 2 Troops Boxes, 3 Support boxes, and a 1st pack of Free Upgrades for 6 unlocked Heroines (see images below for detail). Remember that the Free Upgrades apply to ALL pledge levels.

We have also posted the 3 next stretch goals (see images below).

We'll now be off to catch some sleep. We'll of course be back online tomorrow. We want to give you many many many thanks for this unbelievable Kickstarter launch! Thank you for being part of this incredible adventure!

See, I can't tell because it says "Shipping included for 1 Heroine. Otherwise, US add $23" It sounds to me like the 1 figure pledge is just $15 and that's it.

I call BS. It's not a free model so that doesn't hold up.

The company is selling their items to us directly at us at 60-85% of retail cost. Which is still 10-35% profit (over what they likely sell whole sale so it's actually higher than that). In fact so far they have only given away a single model for "free" and it seems that is included in the actual cost of the pledges ($150 in models for a $165 pledge).

They're milking it. Which is fine to a point but knowing that Dreamforge managed to get quite a few sets of infantry tooled in quality multi-part plastic for less than this has already earned makes it a little annoying.

I think if they don't switch to plastic, they're leaving money on the table... yes? As far as profits.

Does it really count as dedicated to selling models of scantily clad women when it's only 1/3 of the of the models available that really fit the definition of the term?

Perhaps not scantily clad, but certainly sexualized.

The heavy troops really don't fit the scantily clad bill. That might be why I like them the most though.

You can deflect away from how offensive what you said was all you like. The fact of the matter is that this is a kickstarter based around female models and you felt the need to to reduce it to "boobs sell". They're not women! Just life support for nipples!

And you know what, maybe it's from watching that Anita Sarkeesian video the other day, but I think... I think maybe seeing stuff like that in our hobby and not saying anything is part of the problem.

I barely know you, so I'm not saying you're a misogynist. But what you said here was incredibly misogynist, and you deserve to be called out on it.

Fantastic sculpts, about time someone made decent female sculpts. Not only that but the fact a kickstarter shows the sculpts to compare instead of 3d renders is welcome.

Look at the KS page and tell me that the driving force of the pledges is the sexualization of those models with a straight face. I may have said it in a flippant manner by saying 'Boobs sell' but I could have said 'Sex sells' and it would have been the same thing. This KS is successful because RH sculpts over-sexualized female soldier minis and the main demographic for most minis is males. It's pretty simple math.

edit: So as not to distort the argument, I edited my original post to 'Sex sells'. There. The terrorists have won.

From the Kurganova releases I trust them more then most to be able to faithfully bring the 3d renders to an accurate rendering in resin\metal\whatever. All of the digital sculpts they did of the Vestals previously were very spot-on to the final product.

What a time to be a wargamer! All of these little startups, finally making it big.

I suppose this was inevitable.

However - this thread needs to stay on topic.

If anyone wants to debate the ideas that may or may not be behind this Kickstarter and its runaway success, and maybe people's reasons for pledging or even commenting on it, a thread somewhere else would be a better place.

Thanks!

I really want to buy a 40$ set, but having to include 23$ shipping is the deal breaker here.

I don't really get how they can cover shipping for the 15$ donation mini, because for the models I want it almost seems like a better deal to buy a couple of those.

4 nice models for 40$ is great, 4 nice models for 63$ is not. If I wanted to overpay for models I would buy some GW stuff at retail.

If they included the shipping on the 40$ set, or made it so you can get a troop box instead of just heroes, or maybe even made a 60$ set that you can get troops in I would buy one. The 23$ dollar shipping on top of the 40$ is just breaking this deal for me.
