Hmm, that mega-monolith. Interesting that it has two variants in that pic.
I think they're just monolith variants, not a megalith. Too bad for me because I bought a second-hand monolith to do a conversion with and now, knowing it will always be weak-sauce next to these, I no longer want to go through with it. :(

I don't like this freaky thing. Please GW make some good looking small models and not awful big ridiculous crap... Tau Riptide was nice and Wraith knight ok. Both was interesting... Don't know how the Wraith knight will affect the game. Is it too powerful... time will tell...

But this thing is awful. Especially the head. I guess SM will get an other big knight model in the autumn.

The Lead Artist for CSM needs to stop playing Yu Gi Ho. Belly canon, really ?
Big monolith ? why not something new, instead of a cheap and quick conversion ?

What's even worse is that he thing's arms are too short to actually make use of that axe-- and he can't bend his waist because the ridiculous... groin... cannon... gets in the way.

Cheap and quick?
Did you actually look at the model and have you ever seen a Monolith?

That thing looks as much as a Monolith as a Terminator looks like an ASM.

You're full of

If that's a conversion then it is the most amazing conversion ever done - even if you don't like the resulting model. The torso alone is making GK players jealous, wishing they could do that to their Knight so it wouldn't look like it belongs in a 40k parody of the Hangover.
If it wasn't probably massively out of scale, I'd wait for bitz sellers to get hold of these so I could repurpose that chest section for a DK.
Once it comes out, I'm going to do a test fit to see if it's possible. If it is, the chest will probably be one of the most expensive bits on that kit.

I probably won't, in the end. I'll do something else to convert the DreadfulKnight model for use in the local GW store, and for every other game, I'll be using Dreamforge Games mini Leviathans in place of DKs.

Agreed. Even if it is a throwback to epic, I think it looks terrible: and it's a pretty good picture of it (from one angle) it seems.

Also, this could be relevant if they are renaming it:

Well, consider that idea stolen.

I honestly can't believe someone signed off on that Khorne tank though. And hopefully Eldar have something more to look forward too other than a Knight Squadron :/

An excuse to sell 3 WK to every Apocalypse Eldar player I see.. GW will add a formation, I'm sure.

Of course. The fluff's already in place in the new codex. WKs are the safest way to gather supplies of Spirit Stones and the like, and there's a story of something like a dozen WKs going on an expedition of that sort.

IF it is a LoB, I say give it a dog-like head (as the things are supposed to be avatars of Khorne) and integrate the blade into its wrist and it's passable IMO.

Agreed

I know the entre thing is surreal and ridiculous, but did they really have to include a cannon right there, in THAT location?

But I want Eldar to have something cool and entertaining. Not a squadron of useless mini-titans :(

We've had repeated rumors over the past several years indicating a thunderhawk is out there. I wouldn't be surprised to see that for SM.

Probably see the baneblade and stompa rereleased.

Something for the Eldar and Dark Eldar to share would be nice.

To be fair, I think it being this ridiculously bad is the only way I might remotely like it.

I still don't want to own it. But it's amusing to look at, and point at, while laughing.

If they had an Marine apoc kit you can bet that would be the front page product.

I just hope the new Tyranid Apoc rules are decent. If we could just stop referring to the 4e codex that would be nice...

Take a monolith. Cut it in 4 part. Add a bit of plasticard between the four parts to make it bigger. Glue 2 canoptek spiders on each wall.

ta-daa !

Yeah--the throwbacks are popular in their design/model studio now--no doubt. Some of those throwbacks have quality aesthetics that are simply different than the last 5ish years of design---some are just poor 80s/90s modeling. I think this hold a majority of the latter.

I would've thought the axe was there so it could go toe-to-toe with other towering monstrosities on the battlefield like titans or knights or somesuch, rather than wasting its time sweeping away the chaff round its tracks...cos you know for damn sure it's not going to sit back and shoot, it being a Khorne Deamon engine; but hey, what do I know, I actually like the head, best part of the model imo...

It doesn't look anything like a Monolith other than the fact that it's a rectangular pyramid.

Not a fan of the Chaos model but I am interested in those monoliths.

Though anything that makes Melissia laugh that much can't be all bad. Laughter is good for you.

Thanks for posting the photos. Dakka has been rather slow and sleepy this weekend.

I may have to buy one for comical value.

The turn it a bit more orky.
Head would make an amusing base though for a centerpiece model.

Necron thingies, fairly cool. I'm wondering whether they'll release 2 models like the 'Watchtower' and 'dreadstone blight' or maybe they open and close somehow?

Khorne Lord of Battle thingy? Terrible, terrible model.

Good news is, with no Imperial Knights, more money for Deadzone.

I think that's just one monolith model, it looks like it slides open, I hope that's the case anyway, that model is making me want to get some necrons now.
