Today I have been ordered to get rid of my old models that I no longer use (I know I should divorce her right?)

Whilst rummaging through for appropriate stuff for fleaBay I have found 7 chaos terminators all in metal, Abbadon in metal, 7 space marine terminators in metal and a mk 3 predator.

Just felt like sharing my find and wanted to ask what have you got lurking in a box?

Man that is a harsh directive from the spouse. Just repack your stuff in a smaller box, seriously!.

Adam, "Err, so how much is all that going to cost me?"

God, "An arm and a leg."

Adam, "So then, what can I get for a rib?"

Runnin up on ya.

Not 40k but I have a bunch of the old Chaos Dwarf, big hats gathering dust on my hobby shelf.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Am I the only one who's wife supports his geek/nerd side? My wife has no interest in warhammer, but we worked out a decent budget for my hobbies a month, as as long as I stay in it, with a few exceptions here and there, it's all fine. She has also tried WoW, MtG, and D&D, although she didn't much care for any of them, she at least tried and I'll give her that. At the same time I indulge her obsessions with movies, cars, and other things.

More on topic, I have the following in boxes still waiting assembly(unoppened): Land raider with a separate crusader/redeemer upgrade kit, chaplain on a bike, librarian on a bike, 2 raven wing battle forces, 2 3 man raven wing bikes, 3 land speeders, 2 attack bikes, SM commander, tactical terminators, assault terminators, and venerable dreadnaught.

To paint I have(open and assembled): my DV set, 2 sets of FW autocannons, and I am working on putting the finishing details on two predators.

It looks like I have a lot of models, but I got a bunch at a huge discount when a FLGS closed down. I try not to buy new models without at least first making a decent dent in what I have assembled, with the exceptions of the DV set (needed the RB and play DA anyway) and AoBR (same thing).

Somewhere I still have at least some of the "snap together" marines and dark eldar from the 3rd edition starter set. They had a landspeeder with a really cool ball and socket arrangement so you could tilt it on the flight stand. I have never seen that setup again on any other model or in any other collection.

I really wish I had kept it, because I have looked hard through my hobby junk collection (full of random bits and horrible half finished hackjob "conversions" I put together as a grade schooler) and never found it.

while cleaning out the stuff that I had left at my mom's house, Discovered I had 3 chaos rhinos (in case you were wondering...$25.00 price tags still on them), a chaos land raider, and a guard LR exterminator.

All still in their wrap.

The Russ was actually in the oooooold style blue colored box cover to boot.

lets not talk about the random bits and assembled models....

Still got the first model I ever painted. An imperial guard commisar. Must be at least 20 years old. Plastic womble marines bought from new when they came out. And a whole host of games day models still in their blisters from the 90's.
got rid of loads when my son was born.

When I was going through stuff at my parents house I found a bunch of 3rd Ed starter set DE infantry. The ones that you have to snip the spikes off the sprue and add them yourself.

About the directive to clean out your stuff, do you at least get to re-invest it back into the hobby?

I'd forgotten about the "add it yourself" spikes. Those things caused my gradeschool self so much grief...I think I have one of those warriors with a row of spikes straight up the front of its helmet like some kind of demented unicorn.

I have a huge cache of Man O War ships, 300+ metal models.

I am not even going to try and contemplate how much epic stuff I have squirreled away.

Looking at the models now it becomes clear where my 12ish year old self gave up and just stopped adding them. A few of them look really nifty, and then progressively less so until they just look like Elves in spandex.

I've got a small Tau force, a smattering of Marine infantry and vehicles, a full Dark Vengeance set, a lot of Deathwing/Ravenwing goodies, Space Hulk 3rd edition, some sundry Valhallan and other IG infantry, too many Russes and similar tanks, the very beginnings of an Eldar force, an old Necromunda box set, another full gang worth of Goliaths, and that's just stuff I have in my apartment. There's more stuff at my parents' house, but I grabbed most of the good stuff.

Anti-Armour Swiss Guard

12,000pts of marines
9000pts of eldar

I am keeping a few vehicles and some infantry from both - but the rest has been earmarked for disposal.

Whether by skip or trade, I no longer care.

It would cost too much to 'update' the eldar to being remotely competitive under 6th ed (when you can wipe my army out in turn 1, they aren't competitive).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Some craptacular Catachans that I got in like 2002, painted then, sold to my brother, who reprimed, repainted, and reprimed again, then sold back to me along with all his other WH40k stuff.

However, I think I'm going to gather up all the armies I don't think I'm ever going to use, and donate it to a local charity - mainly because I don't think that dealing with strangers is worth the little money I'd get for so many poorly or averagely assembled models in decent to bad to downright terrible condition with at best a tabletop quality paintjob, though most of the Nids and Chaos Marines are unpainted. I might keep their respective books, might donate them.

Well I have the whole Dark Vengeance chaos space marines side assembled with no glue and unprimed just sitting there, I'm trying to sell them but my friend is still not sure because he has so much WHFB stuff and isn't sure if he wants 40k. I won't ever paint it because I don't want to collect Chaos Space Marines.

I also have maybe 10 primed goblins from the Lord of the rings balins tomb starter set with about 10 others lost somewhere in my house. I also have a lurtz metal figure primed and about 10 or 12 haradrim warriors primed which I might paint up not sure.

I also have the Hobbits from the Lord of the rings box set unprimed which I will never paint haha

There is an unassembled Immolator in a box lurking under my bed.

But, more relevantly, got some guard I bought as a kid stashed in a plastic tub. Sometimes chop them up and use them a bitz for my Sisters.

No, you aren't the only one.

My wife knows that Tuesday night is my game night. She calls it "geek night". She also has zero interest and sometimes, playfully, makes fun of my "toys". Been married over 11 years. The "trick" is simply supporting your spouse in whatever it is that takes their fancy as well. That said, I do have a game table in my garage. My boys and I try to get a game in every other weekend. Last week we pulled out every single 40k model we own to see what we had available for an apoc game and proceeded to cover an entire 4x8' table with no more than 1" of space between models... I have no idea how many points that represents. The only army we didn't have represented was SoB. After an hour we stopped counting and decided to just label it "a lot". My wife saw this, shook her head and fortunately I haven't heard anything about it yet. But my guess is that she is going to get something special in the near future....

IG - 2 half-built chimeras, DKoK squad on sprue

CSM - unbuilt: typhus, box of oblits, nurgle DP, 40 forgeworld cultists

Tau - 9 FW crisis suits and some broadsides (In all fairness I am currently working on this army for an escalation league but we don't jump from 500 to 1000 pts until next month)

I used to be really good about assembling stuff within the week it was bought but then Tau happened.

Well, the only thing I can classify as something "lurking away" is an older version of the Stegadon + other random lizardmen figs like a metal Skink Priest and Kroxigors:

A long time ago I tried to get into "the Hobby" but because I was 14-15 years old I couldn't keep up with the prices. No money. I still have the minis tho, and I have been planning to build and paint this bad boy. The model is too good looking to have lying around in pieces.

3 MK I rhinos, 2 have metal extra armour
2 predator annihilators
my GF's old all metal spacewolf army, so thats 20 metal grey hunters, 10 metal blood claws, 5 metal wolfguard terminators, all the characters (in metal) i've converted the landraider into a Terminus Ultra, and the obligitaory Bjorn and wolfguard pack leaders
Half assembled (and painted) baneblade

4500 point Imperial fists 3rd company
3000 point necron army
400 or so skaven clanrats and supporting units
1500-2000 point high elf army

and i don't even want to think whats lurking in my bits box, i went through it a few weeks ago, and turned up the Ltd Edition Emperors champion NIB from a games day ages and ages ago (how much are they going for now??) an epic reaver titan battlegroup, 3 metal leviathans, most of a Capitol imperialis, half a metal eldar dreadnaught (thats what it was called when i got it, 2 eggs on legs, Kharn the betrayer minus backpack and a spacemarine chaplain on a jetbike

I've been going through all the stored stuff that's been in an inactive modeling/painting queue for years, trying to get it properly organized so I can get an ACTIVE painting queue rolling. In finally going through all of the stuff that a friend gave me when he had to move for a job, and got out of the hobby at the same time, I just found a pristine female Commissar model.
