Certainly looks better than Xbox One. However my Sony sense is tingling.
DRM up to publishers, so still possibly fee/no second hand games depending on publisher.
Fee to play online, no worse than Xbox, but no better.
I'd also be wary of the 1 to 2 year bait and switch on anything offered at launch. Im just glad I never really updated my PS3 (or used it for games other than god of war 3) and still have my otherOS option.

Sony are very good at designing and making consumer hardware, and they can lay out contracts for the chips and so on for many millions of units over 5-10 years, so it's possible that using what is effectively PC hardware can be made to sell at a low price.
Some of the difference to the XBox price is the lack of a camera, however you get a free headset. Not everyone wants a camera anyway. It's in the XBox set because you can't run the console without it, not because it is necessary for games.
As of the February reveal Sony plainly stated that the PS4 would not be subsidised at all. There's a tiny chance that might have changed with the new price-point though.

Why keep people saying this? there is no fee for playing online, only for PS+ online service same as on PS3.

From the official Playstation Twitter feed:
"PS4 gamers who aren’t Plus members can still enjoy single-player games for free…and access to media services won’t require Plus"

Therefore I can only assume the reason people keep saying there is a fee for online play is because Sony themselves have said there will be. Granted Sony is often a poor resource on information about themselves at times.
I would not mined paying for PS+ at the end of the day, (now i sound like a chelsea footballer) PS store give you so many free games over the year, that you more than make money on it.
Edit:
just found this.
strait to the point sony lol

Well, i'd already made my mind up. But this has just made it a certainty. PS4 for me all the way, not bothered about the Backwards Compatibility issues as I'll just keep my PS3, and I never used PS+ anyway so feth it.
As long as I don't have to wait 5 years+ for the next Gran Turismo, i'm most certainly there.....

Its amazing deal actually...
Yeah, I have more free games than I can ever play after being on PSN for a while. I just download them and clear them off when I run out of room. As long as you keep your sub, you can download them again later. Sweet deal.

If it means a better, more refined, smoother online experience, I am ok with it. Live is far better in this department than PSN atm. I like both my systems but I find that Live is much more user friendly.

Honestly, I've no problem paying for online. I've had the worst time trying to get my ps3 to play online. Almost regret getting MK9 for the system because, for being a multiplayer centric game, I've played a whopping 0 games online with it because in the countless times I've tried I could never get it to work. I've played other games, but the experience was always clunky and not fun. If they can get it up to current live levels of functionality I'll be pleased.

Truest thing I've ever read, I wonder if they'll stick with the old third-person view or go first-person? And please, no more Jedi, except in the heros vs. heros game type, they were way too overpowered.

It's a sprite-based console - it looks really good from one angle, but only one angle!

If you don't play multiplayer games the PSN costs you nothing.
Hell, I don't play online at all and even for me $5 a month seems like a complete steal for all the free stuff they give you as part of the subscription.
Screw you Sony! Told my fiancee about how Sony kicked Microsoft's butt and she said she was "going to have a closer look at the PS4 now". Christmas will be...expensive!

Haha. I kinda like the look of the shape, which is certainly what they were going for, and it might even have some actual purpose (i.e. you can't jam it all the way into the corner, so it gets better airflow).
Unfortunately, that makes it take up that much more space on your TV cabinet thingy. Shouldn't be too much of an issue though.
As for the price, they may be selling it at a loss, but in all honesty I doubt it. The cost of actual production for one of the units is most likely less than $100. The expensive part is designing it and improving from the past systems and advertising, and once they make their money back from the first few waves of selling the price will drop as usual.
They say they aren't selling at a loss. We'll see if its true.
Selling at a loss though isn't inherently a bad thing. The money in the console market is in licensing not the console itself. So long as the margin isn't too big it doesn't hurt much.
I have to say that that is the sexiest parralellogram that I've ever seen.
I was already leaning towards PS4 over XBone, but after seeing Microsoft and Sony's conferences, I've now toppled over and am rolling about laughing on the PS4
It amuses me that almost all the polls I've seen regarding "who won E3" have shown Sony winning with about 80% of the vote.
