If I remember correctly, baptizing or christening is a choice made by the individual, and not by the individual's parents. If one wishes to be a Christian, they must choose to be one and have original sin washed away. Roman Catholics do not give that choice.

Source: Dated a pastor's daughter... I was the Roman Catholic Heathen for about 2 months. It mostly as joking... her older sister was serious... So she was the harlot for that span of time too (her kid was awesome though).

I was baptised as a baby to appease granny and get her off my parents back. I did communion only because dad told me it would net me lots of presents and cash.

That said, I may be baptised and all that nonsense but the only reason I have ever set foot in a Church again is because of funerals.

One of my friends was baptized as a child. The only notable part of this story is that his parents were both atheists. When he was older, he asked them why; they answered that it was 'just in case' he decided to become Catholic one day. Just thinking about that makes me laugh every time I think about it.

We do baptise babies, but we also have confirmation later in the individual's life

Oh I know, I was baptized as a Catholic, went to a Catholic grade school and high school (for 1yr), had first communion, first confession (reconciliation), had to go to church twice a week, and went through with Confirmation, even got the fancy second middle name to .

I assume it might be this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_handling

Wow. Just spent the better part of half an hour reading up on the various denominations and churches that practice "taking up serpents". That is some very crazy stuff, bordering on being genuinely creepy. I read one guy's account of visiting one of the churches and observing their ceremonies. . . spooky stuff. The service he described was a loose, unstructured marathon of praying, sermonizing, and hymn-singing, with a few congregants playing music all the while in the background. It went on for hours and the music got faster and faster and people started banging cymbals and shouting in tongues and rolling around on the ground and screaming at demons. Then they brought out crates full of rattlesnakes and copperheads, dumped them onto the bible and then proceeded to grab fistfuls of them and wave them around in the air, walk on them, and drape them all over themselves. And all because of one single bible verse interpreted as literally as humanly possible. Crazy.

Yeah this is what can happen when you don't follow proper biblical exegetical principles. You get one verse taken out of context, and a whole group of confused individuals incorporate poisonous serpents into their services. To be honest I would classify this group as cult like. Not sure if it's a cult...but certainly is cultic.

Oh I let them get wild, I play mostly for the hilarity of it. And my players convincing a barkeet that a goblin, who's missing a leg (guess how?) is a baby was hilarious, also, the mother was the male dwarf cleric. Yes, there were some high bluff rolls involved.

I do have to stop them from trying to kill each other at every turn though.

Playing Qin, us players were committing the usual acts of theft, robbery, vandalism, and not entirely accidental killings that almost every group of 'heroic' PCs get up to. So the GM got out the book talking about the levels of hell, and what sins you had to commit to be sent to each, thinking it'd set us back on the right path and we might actually start being heroic. But being players, one guy took a look at it and said 'hey, the only sin we haven't committed in the third circle is slavery!', at which point our new objective was to become slavetraders

Although I may harbour certain opinions about the bard, he has given me no reason to think them more than being overcautious. Our party does, however, have the misfortune of bearing a cleric of questionable beliefs, and a sorcerer who's very eyes blaze with evil intent but who has a mind that understands he shall not live to see the conclusion of his actions should he attempt to cast his vile magicks my way. The ruinous powers of evil-doers felled my order, and retribution flows through my veins. As the last of my order, I have sworn a bloody oath to protect those who have no defence against evil, and avenge those who fell fighting against it. I am retribution incarnate, and for each one of my order who died that day, untold numbers of our foes shall be claimed as vengeance.

Stop justifying being a murder hobo.

You dare challenge my honour, my virtue, and my quest? You dare imply that the lives of my friends, my adopted family, were laid down in vain? Nay, this I cannot abide. I cast my gauntlet down before you, knave, accept my challenge or forever hold your vile tongue in my presence, lest I personally carve its taint from your mouth! You would fight for a lie, I fight because as of that day, I am dead, and I cannot be restored until the crimes of evil have been paid in blood. I do not fear death, I welcome its eventual embrace that I may once again be with my brothers in arms and of heart, but I shall not go willingly, not whilst evil lurks unchallenged in this world!

Choose wisely, knave, for this choice may well be the last you make.
