I heard a really vague but intriguing rumor from a store owner that GW Memphis production facility was shut down for a few months? Anyone know about this?

It is permanently shut down as far as production is concerned. It is now just distribution. My local manager said the facility is just open space mostly, as all of the equipment was either sold or sent back to the UK.

A lot of people were also let go as well in the management section, this was around November 2012.

It was nice of them to move the staff to Memphis before letting them go.

I was just there a few months ago and was told that GW upgraded their production equipment in the UK, but didn't want to pay to have new equipment shipped over to the Memphis facility so they just made it a distribution center. Take with salt as usual.

In my honest opinion and for reasons I will not discuss, I think it's probably a good thing that this happened.

Except if the UK facility burns down, at which point 100% of their manufacturing is down for months.

In which case the Chinese contractor can take up slack with some new cad-cut molds...

(seriously, go read the back of the Dark Vengeance box, Baneblade, Fortress of Retribution, Stompa and any other "Large" mini you can find...)
