Ive never really painted much warhammer before I quit for a few years and now ive come back to the hobby turns out im not much of a painter full stop
My friend says he looks like a christmas tree and clashes too much but I kinda like it but I thought I would gather thoughts of others here. The main thing i wanted is to show a difference between troop and gun. I always thought the gun should look like a separate weapon to its wielder; like in real life guns are not the colours of people using them same for vehicles.
But anyway hes not finished yet and this was my test model so he has been painted over a few times
Anyway I could use opinions or ideas.
*gulp* here goes..

I like it. Non-metallic colors give a very "ceramical" feel to Necrons, which is pretty cool. Your color combination is unique and will look great on tabletop.
Are you going to paint the rail rod, or leave it green?

I think it is the green rod which causes the dreaded christmas tree effect Perhaps dark-red energy might work there, or something like that.
This might be a good article for inspiration:

Find the regular metallic painted necrons so flat and boring .
Keep it up

looks good, bonus points for painting your stuff! I like the colors red necrons are defiantly different but different is good. about the gun being a different look than the wielder bit i'm always torn on the matter, in one hand with the likes of tau for example i feel it makes sense that they match idk why but with say space marines or eldar i often feel the opposite.

That is an amazing color scheme. I would love to see an entire army painted up like that (including vehicles!) on the battlefield.

Pretty cool color scheme, definitely out of the ordinary and definitely very energetic. I agree with the poster who suggests an entire army in this theme.

I've always loved seeing nontraditional Necron color schemes. The models lend themselves very well to the whole ceramic feel that was mentioned beforehand.
Have you considered giving a dark wash or glaze to the Gauss Blaster's green rod? It could add a bit of extra color or shading to the bright green and potentially tone it down.

I think it has too many primary colors and none of them really compliment each other. Part of the problem is that you used a flash to take the picture, so the colors look brighter and wash out. Case in point, I'm not 100% that your model has yellow across the chest.
I guess I agree with your friend about the model clashing too much. Your colors are: Red, Yellow, White, Black, Green, Silver.
I think my biggest issues is the black. It's such an extreme contrast and if it not highlighted, it simply looks like a WIP. (work in progress).
I would get rid of yellow entirely (if it is yellow), paint the legs and arms metal, leave the chest plate solid red with a gold chest piece, and leave the helmet as is.
Here are some ideas I found on the net.
Imagine this, but in red with your helmet color.
This one has a different color gun which makes it stand out from the body.

I get what you're saying but im desperately trying to avoid using silver for my crons and they are WIP as highlights will be added once Ive finished painting the rest up
Here is a Scarab base ive started, needs a few more layers on thw white and some cleaning up but its just to get the colors down so far.

Your scarabs are looking pretty cool mate, but I agree that the rods should be a different colour, i'd probably go with a deep blue, to distinguish it from the rest of the model, with maybe a bit of light blue OSL ^_^

I think it'll look alright if you keep all the units uniformly painted. Its not the colour scheme I would have chosen but its still interesting nonetheless. They look like they have a flat colour paint to them whereas I think of necrons I think of shiny or glowing. Stilll though its original and I like that about it for sure. Keep on paintin'!

I think the only thing i would change is the gauss rod. As someone else said, dark red may work better. Or try Ebay for red clear rods, there are usually some up about £2.50 for 10

Really nice colour scheme. I actually like the use of multiple colours here and dont find it overpowering. I also think leaving the guns green compliments the red nicely. Well done
