Have these "vampires" been retconned out?

As for the traits associated with WHFB vampires, such as necromancy and control of undead hordes, that sort of thing could be done by a Chaos sorcerer.

No they haven't they are in the BT codex.

IIRC High Inquisitor Bronislaw Czevak in the novel "Atlas Infernal" had an actual female vampire acolyte in his retinue.

Just looked it up. Her name is Joaqhuine Desdemondra. She was known as "Saint Joaqhuine" or better known as the "Idolatress" amongst the Guardsmen. Pages 22-23 describes her in detail, including her immortality and her feeding habits.

Blood Angels...sort off. The Night Lords might also count.

Wasn't she called a heamovore or something like that?

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives.

The blood angels may suck blood but personality wise they aren't remotely like the vampire counts. Especially since they are often portrayed as pretty nice to the average citizen and puny guardsman as space marines go

The Dark Eldar rolled up traits from both the Dark Elves and the Vampire Counts, minus a Nagash type figure. As for shambling undead, Nurgle has dibs on that, as do the Slaugth.

Think of a daemon incursion like a fart you don't quite trust... you could either toot a little puff of air, bellow a great effluvium, or utterly sh*t your pants and cry as it floods down your leg.
