So what was the one roll, That by all rights you should have made, that messed you up.
Like today, Leadership 10 on my crisis suits. I failed it, rolled 10 on the distance. They ran off the board.
That game was still winnable(I sadly didnt, but it was fun)

Not one, but three rolls in one game.

Space Wolves vs. my Tau, he fires a squad of Long Fangs at my Riptide and causes 3 wounds - 2 armor and 1 invuln. Well, I popped my shield this turn, so I've got a 2+/3++, and my FNP roll, so I've got to pass at least 2 of 3, right? Wrong, apparently. Failed all three saves, then failed all three FNP rolls. 3 out of 5 wounds gone in a single round of shooting.

Used my brothers space wolfs for a club special game, (Highlandeer/royal rumble 500pts, 1 hq + troop, about 20 players entering ), took Njal , double 6s first turn, double 1s second. needless to say short game.

Once I rolled two back to back 11s on morale checks for my ethereal gunline. The second check was on my Ethereal's squad. He ran off the board.

They weren't even from shooting...it was from a fething psychic power. Telepathy killed my army!

Saint Celestine charged a squad of like 6 marines. He got two hits from overwatch, 2 wounds, and I rolled double 1s on my Armor save of 2+. (With two wounds left before that happened.)
I got the last laugh, though. Celestine got back up next turn and killed them all.

A lone marine snap-shot my Crimson Hunter clean outta the sky with a meltagun. Funny as all hell it was.

Round 6 of Eldar vs. Orks, close game. Farseer with Scorpions failed Leadership from shooting and retreated for exact the amount of inches (10) to be out of range for the wraithlord's wraithsight. Needless to say, wraithsight triggered, lord couldn't contest the objective, game ends, lose.

I somehow lost 3 pentinent engines to a single landspeeder. Dont know how that one worked out. not due to explosions either.

1 Wound left on Mephiston, one guy shoots him with bolt pistol. Hits. Wounds. Roll save, one.

When your opoment gets 1 wound on you, and you got that 2+ feelin all cocky an like.... then bam 1

It happens 1 time in 6, and yet you have that indestructible feeling like "It should NEVER happen."

Shooting at a Stormraven full of henchmen with my Sky fire Riptide with his Nova charged HBC. Got 4 overheats but I'm not worried because I have a 2+. Well, rolled 4 ones and killed myself!

Oh yes, I know this feel all too well. Has happend too many times

I was playing a quick 500 pt escalation league match with my Tau. Opponent was mostly out of range with his marines but managed to squeeze off a missile launcher shot and hit my broadside. I failed the 2+ save - insta-killing it and the drones failed leadership/ran off table. 1 random shot took out 1/5 of my army.

I still won, but it was close.

Needed to run 3 inches to hold an objective. Rolled 2 inch run. Game end.

One game with my DA against a friend's DE I had 3 DW squads in 1500 and every time he shot my termies, whether he wounded 5 times or 30, when rolling my saves I would say "Terminators never die" and EXACTLY one would die every time.

Draigo's squad had to take 5 saves, w/ draigo at front. I decided not to bother Look Out Siring Them, so promptly rolled 4 ones and lost draigo.

Didn't happen to me per say, but in the first round of combat his mephiston had, my bog standard librarian wounded and killed him

Rolled a one with my warphead, used my reroll, got another one. It was my first roll of the game...I knew it was going to be a good one. Killed 4 of my boyz.

my flying tried to cast iron arm I rolled double 6's, next double 6's again and 3rd turn sixes again. He took more wound from perils than from enemy!

Helbrecht failing 4 Look Out Sir! rolls, followed by failing 4 armour saves, 4 FNP saves and 4 Bionics saves. Just to put it into perspective, the odds of rolling on four dice ONCE is 1 in 1296. Failing that twice in a row is one in 1679616, and that's not taking into account the FNP or Bionics.

Fantays not 40k but it still applies. 'Ard Boyz finals in Chicago, 3rd round. Teclis's unit just needs to do a swift reform (leadship 10 check) to move around an enemy unit to move into the tower and win me the game. First roll....11..... Its ok BSB is right there gives me a reroll......boxcars!!!!

I lose the game and my opponent wins 'Ard Boyz....

Teaching my friends to play using DV.

I took Chaos and threw the Lord with the Chosen. Had him spearhead the squad.

3 bolter shots on turn one at the squad, Don't LoS because "He'll save two of the wounds".

3 ones. First blood and slay the warlord.

Two instances come to mind. The first is more of a series of events - when I started playing the Dark Eldar around release, I took the Baron and an Archon with Shadowfield for every game. 3 games in a row, both models rolled 1's on their saves every time - losing Shadowfield and in most cases being instagibbed. I dropped them for months until someone confused me to give them another try. I still use them to this day.

A second on is a particular event, though this one was good for me - I was trying to take down a Riptide that was pretty much standing between me and victory, and my Dark Eldar poison weapons just weren't doing it. I fired probably over a hundred shots at him all game and took off 4 wounds, and the Riptide was going to probably crash my last vehicle and stay contesting the objective, costing me the game.

But wait! I forgot I had two Kabalite Warriors pinned in a crater. They had been pinned for 3 turns in a row after their Raider exploded, and I had practically forgotten about them. Well, why not make the snapshot anyway? I almost didn't, expecting it to be useless, and they only get one shot at this range. Well one rolls a 1 and the other rolls a 6. I laugh, thinking it won't go anywhere. Then I roll enough to wound, but the Riptide has a 2+ and FnP, so I still can't pull this off... but he rolls a 1 and then a 4, just one shy of making it.

So my pinned Warrior takes out a Riptide without even aiming. Like a boss. Guess I have someone to replace the Archon I lost in that battle.

SHOULD be 1/6 but generally speaking if the first time the baron gets hit is just for 1 wound, he seems to fail it half the time....
