I've made some more progress on my Eldar Wraithhost and finally painted up everything I have on hand. I've been making plans on the nedxt additions and have a tonne of jetbikes on their way to me that I am eagerly anticipating. The time waiting for delivery gave me apt opportunity to base up those that had been completed so far.

Happy to present:

Loving that look with the Golden Eye in the middle. Is it free-handed or a decal?

I love the blue you did on them, all in all it's a very good army scheme! Beautiful models and a beautiful paint job, well done sir!

Love them all, but the wraithguard are exceptional. The eye is really a great addition to the model and gives the helmet (or whatever you wanna call it) some good character.

Another compliment on the eyes, very nice. Good job on the snow bases as well - is that just glue and snow flock?

Cheers guys, the decals came out really well in the end though were a touchy point midway through. The base is made up of sand painted brown and a small amount of the citadel texture white spotted wherever snow was going, and the glue snow on those spots overlapping the brown a little to have thick snow and melting snow.

Loving this!

The wraith guard and lords are beautifully done and I really like the blue.

The eye just finishes them off nicely too.

Looking forward to seeing more.

I am looking at adding wraithguard with d scythes and maybe wraithblades with axes to my own eldar force eventually.

What do you think of the wraithblades? While slow, they can take a hit with the force shields and runes of battle/divination to buff them a bit and hit pretty hard in combat, which imo is something the eldar need.

I will soon have 10 old metal wraithguard with d cannons so the d scythes and axes will stand out nicely as the new models.

Also thinking about a wraithknight but struggling to justify the cost vs the output at the moment.

Thanks, I dont really rate the Wraithblades because I have no real delivery mechanism for them, its a shame because their kits seems amazing (blades/axes look cool) I may eventually make some for the same reason I'd make a Knight with a sword, just to look cool and take the hit on points efficiency for coolness

Stunning color scheme.

Could you post a picture of the wraithknight from a different angle? It's hard to tell what his arms are doing.

Will do my best to get a few different angles as soon as the rain stops pouring down, my lamp recently exploded so I need the natural light.

Very unique color scheme! I really like it. I do think that the wraith knight pose looks a little awkward though. Maybe it is just the camera angle.

The pose on the knight is now considerably better than it used to be, there is a degree of awkwardness to it that cae about during assembly however in person looks alot better in pose that it seems to photograph.

I've added to the army lately, with three warwalkers and 9 bikes currently in progress of assembly/painting. As a test scheme for each of them I have now completed and based 3 bikes (no riders) and one warwalker I am rather proud of.

would you say the new wraithguard are worth getting if you already have 10 of the old ones?

I am seriously considering selling my metal ones on ebay and going for 3 boxes of the new ones (split between 10 with wraithcannons and 5 with d scythes).

Just depends on getting a reasonable price for the metal ones.

I love the new kits for their poses and more sense of "motion" than the older kits, plus you get a tonne of spare bits that can work as accessories or basing materials (axes, pads, swords, tabbards etc)

Jetbikes are nice, those black stripes are perfect, are they airbrushed on with some masking? They just look nice and perfect.

You have a very consistent colour on your large surfaces. I'm a bit jealous. Are you using an airbrush, or is it all handbrushed?

Airbrushed with masking yup, my first attempts with masking so simple lines was as brave as I got, once I can cut more precisely I'll get more adventerous.

Mathieu Raymond wrote:You have a very consistent colour on your large surfaces. I'm a bit jealous. Are you using an airbrush, or is it all handbrushed?

Its 90% airbrushed with edge highlighting and a little bit of drybrushing in cleanup, much smoother colour gradients than I ever achieved by brush alone.
