North Korea condemns Hitler Mein Kampf report
North Korea has blasted a report that its leader, Kim Jong-un, gave out copies of Adolf Hitler's memoir Mein Kampf to officials on his birthday.
The report, from a news website run by North Korean defectors, said that senior officials were given the book as a gift in January.
North Korea has denounced the defectors as "human scum" and threatened to kill them.
Nazi leader Adolf Hitler wrote Mein Kampf in 1924 while in prison.
The book, which translates as My Struggle in English, outlines his early life and racist views.
News portal New Focus International wrote the original report, citing an unnamed North Korean official in China.
"Mentioning that Hitler managed to rebuild Germany in a short time following its defeat in WWI, Kim Jong-un issued an order for the Third Reich to be studied in depth and asked that practical applications be drawn from it," the source reportedly said.
North Korea's Ministry of People's Security, which is responsible for policing, issued an angry response which was carried by the country's official news agency, KCNA.
It dismissed the report as a "smear campaign" written by "a handful of human scum... moving desperately to deter [North Korea's] progress".
The defectors were being used by South Korea and the US, it went on.
The ministry was determined to "physically remove [the] despicable human scum who are committing treason", the statement added.
The two Koreas remain technically at war after the 1950-53 Korean war ended with an armistice, not a peace treaty.
Ties between the two are currently very tense in the wake of Pyongyang's 12 February nuclear test.
It is estimated that more than 20,000 North Koreans have defected to the South since the 1950s.
However, fleeing North Korea is dangerous, and defectors who are repatriated to North Korea face punishments including labour camps and execution, activists say.
I find it hilarious what KJU thinks the outside world are upset by...
"What, they say i gave people a book! Kill them. Kill them all!"

This probably wouldn't be a terrible idea. Really, if North Korea studied any functioning government at all they'd be doing better.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the angry response to this is because of the implication that NK can learn anything from anyone else, rather than it being a reaction to the content of Mein Kampf...

Wonder how the book got into the country if it did. Wonder who going to brave enough to give the Young Leader the report unscrubbed. Or who gave a report that's been scrubbed.. If he convince himself that Hitler really pulled it off. Is he going to challenge Hitler time to turn around his country.
So instead of seeing the same six tanks running back and forth between two hills behind "Peace Village" will there be eight tanks in a couple years....then ten...

Reading Hitler to learn from him and reading Hitler due to a pre-existing agreement with him are two different things.
Hitler is oft studied by politicans are world over in terms the power structure he introduced and above all in his rhetorical techniques.
Most will be too embarrassed to admit it but the majority of mainstream professional political orators directly emulate Hitlers rhetorical techniques, its required study in most schools of politics.
Someone is trying to make a story out of nothing, Kim Jong Un is not unwise to ask his chief henchmen to study Hitler, they should read Marx and Machiavelli also.

Until they read it and realize the anti-communist theory that is espoused within and start a fascist counter-revolution...
and I question the comments that Hitler is studied by politicians. The power structure he introduced was convoluted, counterproductive, and would be ineffective in any nation that didnt have a supreme leader with complete authority and final say at its top, and few, if any, politicians come close to matching Hitler for public speaking style, and if they are trying to emulate him then they are failing hard.

There's a difference between emulating his style of giving a speech and emulating his use of rhetoric. Study does not equate copy.

Concentration camps? Check.
Propaganda? Check.
Rampant xenophobia? Check, to varying degree.
Lebensraum equivalent? Check
Aktion T4 equivalent? Don't know, but I wouldn't bet against it.
I'd reckon there's little left for North Korea to pilfer from Mein Kampf's page...
