This is the first time ive done a P&M thread, so please bear with!
Anyway, I decided a couple of weeks ago to build a Harpy model. I really love my Flyrants,
FMC's wreck face. I thought it would be fun to try out a Harpy too, and see how well it stands up in a game.
I decided that despite them being referred to as a 'flying Trygon', that a trygon was too big and expensive, not to mention ambitious for someone with little experience at serious conversion.
So I based mine around parts from both the Carnifex and Hive Tyrant kits. This is it so far.
So in the first two images you can make out the parts ive used (from ebay/bitz site parts ive bought). It has a Fex torso, with the tail section from the flyrant.
I couldnt find a pelvis from a flyrant in stock anywhere, so I cut the majority of the tail off the lower half of a Fex, broke off the legs and green stuff grafted it to the flyrant tail.
The arms are Stranglethorn Cannons, but with the shoulder joint from Deathspitter arms, so that they are left and right arms and match each other, as Cannons are right arm only, the left is the seed sac.
The joints need tidying up but its all together at least!
The head is the Fex Bio Plasma head, to represent the Harpy's Sonic Screech rule.
I cut the lumps out off the Tyrant tail leg sockets and green stuffed a couple of Scytals on, so my Harpy will still have 6 limbs when its wings are on. I like that it looks quite serpentine.
Here you can see my crude attempt at making the green stuff look a bit more like part of the model by stabbing in holes to match the rib/vent like nature of the tyranid exoskeleton.
All I need now is a hobby drill so that I can pin the wings in place. Im using Balrog wings. I also have a cluster spine Fex carapace to attached, then its just a matter of tidying up the rough edges!
C & C welcome!
