I laughed out loud, thinking about how adding Pask would be like strapping a fire cracker to a nuke. I can't think of an infantry target that would shrug this off and act like nothing happened. But if you're still looking for a few more wounds, sure go nuts, throw Pask in there too.

I guess you could slap on heavy stubbers for some cherry tapping.

Why would you need prescience with this? I'd think 3 punishers all shooting at the same target would be good enough.

On the other side, you could ask why 3 punishers. 2 punishers and prescience is going to be as good as 3 punishers, but is also going to be cheaper.

Also, I don't quite see what niche this would fill. A punisher or two is a great defensive weapon, but at some point, you start getting diminishing return, especially when considering that your troops choices will already be good against the things your punishers are.

At this rate, throw on a hunter killer missile. Throw in a high watt bulb in the spot light, to add that little extra damage ...

Thanks Ailaros. I agree, and I'm glad you could word this better than I.

The guys in my group are always begging me to take this. I agree with what you said, and I would add that it's an expensive squadron, vulnerable to alpha strike and assault. I would also add that this isn't how I play, generally speaking, I don't go for the mega super weapon, or combo.

I was looking for an explanation that I couldn't phrase myself. This will work, thanks.

Your regular troops can kill the same things as the Punisher squadron, but your regular troops can't exactly Alt-Ctrl-Delete a unit in the same way that 46 wounds can...

I honestly can't think of anything with less than T9 or AV 12 other than an Azrael guard blob or a guard blob in some serious cover that can survive one round from this.

You might actually have something that can kill a Hierophant Biotitan in a time frame shorter than "at the pace you can eat your way through a brick wall."

Except against mech armies and any army with either long-range anti-tank or special mobility anti-tank (meltagun sternguard, etc.), or by those who bring any heavy armor of their own.

... so, any competitive gunline, among others...

Why 3 not 2? Well obviously, 3 chain-guns is cooler than 2 chain-guns

But yeah, this is such a niche role that I can't see it being worth it. BUT, when it is needed, it's a role well filled.

And that's if it survives, which...is pretty unlikely...

Blob units of Flesh Hounds with 3+ invulns pretty much demand this kind of firepower. Even with this much firepower, you're only putting 15 wounds on the squad. That's 7 dead Flesh Hounds. Not so amazing really...

It's 7 failed saves on a Terminator squad, ~14-15 on a Marine squad. For a Marine squad with an attached IC, it really isn't overkill.

What would be the point? The Vulture's guns are already twin-linked (and BS 4 against most targets), so you'd be hoping to get one of the useful non-primaris powers and then somehow find a way to keep it within casting range of the flyers.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
