Crushing Black Templar Crusader Pilot
|
I'm playing around with a potential future army, and I was trying to come up with what seems like a decent 2k list but I'm a veteran SM player so I have no idea if this is a good list. I'm looking for a fun list that can still win some games without being WAC. Here's my attempt:
HEADQUARTERS:
St Celestine 115
Jacobus 90
Battle Conclave:
3 flagellants, 3 crusaders with power axe, 3 assassins with power maul/sword combo, repressor 185
ELITES:
Celestians x6, 2 MGs, storm bolter srgt, immolater, TLMM, dozer blade 208
TROOPS:
Battle sisters x16, storm bolter, heavy bolter, combi-plasma 203
Battle sisters x10, flamer, HF, combi-flamer, MB, repressor 215
Battle sisters x10, MG, MM, combi-melta, MB, repressor 210
FAST ATTACK:
Seraphims x8, 2x inferno pistols, 2x hand-flamers, power-axe/PP 205
HEAVY SUPPORT:
Avenger Strike Fighter, autocannons 180
Avenger Strike Fighter, autocannons 180
Exorcist 135
ADL with comms-relay 70
TOTAL 1996
Three repressors pushing forward with a AV13 wall of armor, the celestians will tag along and try to melta some high AV vehicles, the Seraphims will join St Celestine to hop around and harrass/counter-attack.
The forward elements will be supported by the exorcist and the heavy bolter squad behind the ADL (not much fire-support) and eventually by the Strike Fighters who actually have nice firepower and AV12 front.
What are SoB vets thinking? Is this garbage or ok? Obviously I'm cool with FW stuff. Automatically Appended Next Post: Anybody?

Your term "garbage" comes to mind, but I can tell you're not use to making SoB lists lol. No worries
First off, you can't give the Battle Conclave different weapons. They're set with what they have (besides, why would you give the DCA a Power Mual instead of two Power Swords??) Its better to run two Crusaders and 7 DCA. You'll get a LOT more attacks.
Instead of the Celestians, run a Dominion Squad. It's MEANT to run exactly how you're trying to run the Celestians, but with Scout and a better Act of Faith. The Celestians are more for CC.
It's better to make the Battle Sister squads more uniform. I run two or three with Combi-Melta, Melta, Heavy Flamer, and Repressor. If you make two like that, you can have another more specialized squad with more Flamers or melta.
The Seraphim Superior can't take a Power Axe, HOWEVER, you can give her an Evicerator which gives her S6 instead of S5 (they both are Unwieldy anyways). Pus it gives you an additional D6 for AP.
I'd give the Seraphim a melt bomb. Hit and Run with one last "Eff you!!"
SoB dont have Avengers, so you cant run them unless you have allies. Run 2-3 Exorcists.
If you want more heavy weapons, run a Retributor squad with 4x Heavy Bolters or 4x Multi-Meltas.
Give the ADL a quad-gun
The thing about SoB, they're pretty much IG in power armor who specialize in Flamers and Melta. Keep the Battle Sisters squads in their Repressors and shoot from the firing points. The only times they should get out is if they're securing an objective, or you ABOSLUTELY need them to finish something off. The Dominion Squads are GREAT tank killers. TLMM and an additional 4 melta guns with BS 4 can destroy anything. Exorcists are the meat and potatoes of the Heavy support. Use them. S8 AP1 Heavy D6?? Heeeell yeah.
Try not to get into CC unless its with like, Tau or IG. With the Seraphim, have them charge you, Overwatch with 5 Flamers, then Hit and Run.
How'd you get Counter-attack??

They are listed as having 'Power Weapons', so they can choose which of the 4 power weapons they want. PowerMaul/Power Sword is better than dual sword, you still get +1 attack but have a second option in combat for taking down high-toughness models. Also, I don't think he means the special rule 'Counter-attack' but the term counter-attack.

Let me go ahead and stop you right here. The codex says the crusaders take a power weapon, DCA's take 2. Power weapons, in the rulebook, are axes, swords and mauls. They can keep their power weapons but it can be any of those power weapons. Taking 2 swords is redundant, a sword and axe combo or axe and maul combo is miles better than 2 swords.

I never caught that O.o I stand corrected. And I got confused with the Maul and the Axe.
I'm gonna have to do some converting now lol
