@panda- Thanks Panda, they are pretty good, not quite bad ass though......

@Paradigm- hey, thanks for that centurion comment. It's funny, usually when a new kit comes out they are all over the place. Especially in the showcase thread. I haven't seen any. I don't think I will be buying another set.

@Dinamarth- Thanks man!

So I rearmed the Sternguard with the new weapons. Also redid the shoulders. Those weapons pop. Will be adding 5 more guys.

Thanks Largeblastmarker. The new kits are great and all but too ornamental for RG. I just used the weapons and Crux Termanix symbols to mark their veteran status. Now, the Vanguard are totally different story. These guys look awesome. They are just right and I think look great. I was looking over things and I only have 2 tanks, 2 bikes, and 8 marines left.......

Oh, and these guys are gonna roll with Shrike.

Nice squad of mini-Shrikes, very dynamically posed.

That squad should be devastating against power armored foes.

Excellent Vanguard and Sternguard! Super awesome. However, on the plasma you should add just a touch of white to the corner of it to add a small glowing effect. I also enjoy that you don't have your power weapons radiate power.

Thanks or all the comments, gents. I do appreciate them. Panda I plan to redo he coils when I fix the rest of the power weapons in the army. In the meantime I kit bashed a librarian using parts from the Sternguard and Grey Knights sets. I think he turned out nicely. I really like the new librarian model but I guess I am too cheap to buy him.

Nice libby, I actually prefer them fairly static, like he's concentrating really hard on melting some poor xenos guy's brain. The larger base is also nice, it really emphasises the pose and is something I do on most HQs.

I really like your kit bashed libby over the new libby.

The kitbashed Libby is top notch. Good job on him. Could also add a book or something to his belt if you wanted.

@Largeblastmarker- Just mounted him on that base to paint him. he gets a regular sized one. As for the pose, see below.

@Paradigm- Thaks man, I was going for a Darth Vader pose Like the scene in Star Wars when he chokes the guy out and explains "I find your lack of faith disturbing".

@Panda- Thanks man. Your competition is rolling along, everything looks great.

@Dinamarth- I threw a scroll on him for good measure. Also I should have your package out today.

And now, the finished Librarian.......

The blue needs highlights. trust me, I know this. Otherwise, solid model, but you know I know you can do better, but what you don't know is that I know you know you wana do better.

Aha, I understand the pose more now. Not sure how I didn't see that before, as I've always associated that with the DV libby, to which this one is similarly posed.

Nice paintjob, but I'd second the call for more highlighting on the blue, as compared to the rest of the army he looks a little flat. Great work on the face and weathering, though.

Thanks gents glad y'all like him. You are correct on the highlights. I was trying a new combination of blue and washes and thought it Would work a little better.

In the meantime, the next batch is ready to go. The Hunter is a great model by the way.

Looking good. Can side panels from a regular rhino be used when building a Hunter/Stalker?

Disclaimer: This info is from me researching pictures, not first hand

You can see the sprue pics on GWs site for the stalker/hunter. It -looks- like they are just add-ons replacing the normal doors (which are still included in the kit). If you left them off, I'd be concerned that the tank would end up looking very top heavy with the massive cannon. But it looks like it would be possible to do. I think a better option would to just carve off the pegs, so it looks like they are retracted while the tank re-deploys. This way you still get the mass of the side panels to balance out the cannon, but not the nailed to the ground look.

But on the topic of the one in this thread, excelent as always!

They have a quad gun, and a nice whirlwind which will double as a stalker, and like 4 guys with missile launchers in case I really need flak. I should probably take a pic of it...

Yeah those panels are like the Vindicator extra armor. You don't have to use them, but you should because the Rhino isn't hefty enough looking for that gun. There is one great thing about this kit. I think you have the parts to build both weapons. It's not an either/or. I'll let you know.

you do, newer kits seem to have all the bits.
