Got it. I had heard the wraith wing mono build had a large following, but I didn't realize the conversation had been totally undermined by that list. Maybe I will go to the army list section and try to restart the conversation.

The thing is, Necrons have lots of "competitive" units. However, the aforementioned Night Scythe, Anni Barge, Dlord, Wraith combo is just so incredibly efficient that it is hard to ignore those units--particularly in tandem with one another. It is very to easy to argue that Scythes should cost a minimum of 20 points more a piece, Wraiths 5-10 a piece, and Anni Barges 20 more per. In an army that consists of entirely these units (well, and Warriors), it is easy to see how in some ways, an optimized Cron player is working with a point advantage.

There was a recent thread about competitive units in the dex, and I posted a list there of my thoughts. Suffice it to say, if you want to make a competitive list, I would strongly consider starting with a core of 3 Anni Barges and 2x6 Wraiths at the very minimum.

You can only use the Warlord table if you play a Dark Harvest list.

It is a really awesome Table though, with every trait being useful.

Ok, do you have to use Maynarkh units in a dark harvest list?

You can make your own Dynasty with a Dark Harvest list, just like you can with Codex: Necrons. Just keep in mind that a lot of it is Maynarkh themed, with somethings like the Scarabs, having Maynarkh in it's name.

Yup, you do..

The Dark Harvest list is almost like an entirely new codex that shares a lot with the Necron-codex.
You must take one of the Maynarkh HQ's and you can only pick units that are in the "Maynarkh-codex".

So you can never use Zahndrekh with this Table.

Which is a shame as Zandrekh is easily one of the most awesome commander type special characters.

You can ally in Necrons though, and take Zahndrekh. He just can't be the Warlord.

Well as Codex Necrons are BATTUL BRUTHAS you can get everything you wanted out of Zahndy anyway.

That is nonsense!

Monoliths can be fun and they are quite good.
Most SC are good.
Triarch Stalkers see lots of play.
LG/TP are played more than enough and can be devastating.
C'Tans are awesome models to field and Doomsday Arks can bring destruction on almost anything.
Hell, even Flayed Ones can be effective in a match.

Just because it's not a "free win at tournament"-unit doesn't mean you 'need to clearly stay away' from it.

I come from a competitive perspective and those units are absolute trash. Sure, they might be played a lot. They look cool.

Stalkers aren't really bad. They provide cheap twinlinking and who doesn't love a two shot multimelta?

Plus, what else are you going to take in your elites slot? Flayed ones?

The Fall of Orpheus is one of the better IA titles.

It adds loads to Necrons and some great stuff for Minotaurs.

As an aside... Yeah, Crons are pretty much a cookie cutter list.

They have some whacky builds, but they can be taken apart easily.

If you want Crons, Cron Air is a very powerful list. The fringe lists were Tremorcrons and Scarab Farm, both which lost effectiveness in 6th.

I'd put as many Deathmarks as I had Despairteks to put them in, but stalkers in the spare slots don't hurt.
