I've also heard that Tyrands will be the first 40K release of 2014 which is a long way off.
I did hear that some time in 2013, Tyranids would get some new models + a WD update similar to what deamons got before the new codex came out.
Also, A new tyranid model that is on the scale of a wraithknight compared to a wraithlord would be HUGE!!! The Tyrannofex/Tervigon is not the tallest model but when you take into account all three dimensions, it is pretty big. Probably bigger than the Riptide is in total inches cubed.

That's why I doubt it. As a monstrous creature, it has to fit on a base, as all measurements are from and to the base. The Tervigon already overhangs the base and the feet barely scrape by fitting on. The only direction they can go is up, not out. Which means an upright bipedal creature like the Hive Tyrant or snake-like. The rumour of a Dominatrix which has always been quadrupedal, and that size scale, doesn't work without a new base size.
The Riptide isn't actually that big. It's a bipedal walker but it's height and width are similar to the Trygon. The Wraithknight gets away with it because it's a lankyass Eldar walker. Fitting the feet on is easy because Eldar walkers are always far taller than they are wide.

I bet they nerf the Doom and or change my Harpies. Both I use. What if Flyrants get more expensive?
I am also happy w/ my Plasma hatcher spore pods. I can't see them not making a spore pod model.
If they change the impaler cannon then I'll just cry all the time but never really know why.
I think many people would be randomly crying a lot if they changed the impaler cannon (it would make it easier to spot oher nid players )
i also don't want to see the Doom changed. i would be really happy with a doom model though.
I have mixed feeling about re-introducing genestealer cults

The cult just seems like an out dated spin off idea that doesn't match the fluff we have today. Sure maybe some humans would worship the tyranids as gods, but would the tyranids waste time mingling with them? but maybe i'm just being buggy-biased and don't want any human scum mixed in

I suggest reading about Ichar V and how nasty genestealer cults can be.

Maybe it'll be a giant dune worm like creature bursting out of the ground... revamp of a Trygon or Mawloc perhaps?

Honestly, I don't want Cults in my codex either. A supplement fine, but I prefer to have Tyranids, not humans, in any shape or crossbreed, in my utterly alien race.
Frankly, I like the codex the way it is now, although there are units I could deal without (Biovores and Pyrovores, none of which are interesting to me), I hope to Emprah it doesn't get changed.

I wouldn't mind having the Living Ammunition rule back. it was a great fluff supporter and helped those gribbles make up for the fact they shoot worse than a Storm trooper on a foggy day

How about non-atrocious internal balance? Hmm?

Honestly I never have a problem with Interal balance. The only real problem comes from overcrowded Elites where some units in most Metas are clearly superior.
Living Ammo, while great, didn't really bother me all that much when it left. The thing that really killed me was loss of Without Number, just so GW could sell Tervigons by the bucket after 2 years.
Other, minor issues with the general rules. First, if Blasts could hit flyers with Skyfire, Harpies and Flyrants with Stranglethorn and HVC could become feasible concepts to a lot of players. Twinlinked Strength 9 against Flyers would be a Godsend, even if it couldn't destroy in one go.
Secondly. Spinegaunts. Plain feth up. No excuse.
Other than those most issues are simply metagame.

I like the idea of a Genestealer cult supplement (not the paying $50+ extra bucks for it part) and I think it would be a great way to get all the old Tyranid players to dust off their genestealer armies that they put away when 6th rolled out.
I'm almost positive the Doom will change simply because of the changes seen with psychic powers with all the new codexes. Also the Doom being one of our most widely used models sets it up for a nerfing, especially if their is no monetary incentive to keep it good. No model means no additional sales for making it better. The good will be toned down and (hopefully) the bad will be brought up.

The bit right at the end of the post in the link below got me worried. They say take the last bit with EXTRA salt, but even the tiniest inkling of the author they suggest in it the post strikes fear into my heart. Fear for the fluff, balance and overall flavour of the Tyranids. I really hope the last sentence or so of the post is either a joke, or incredibly wrong.

I'm not sure why. I mean, fluff, sure, he tends to write pretty fanfic-ish. But army list? Wards army lists always have a gak ton of options, actually decent internal balance, have a few viable competitive builds and in general stack up well to the current metagame, if not always top teir.
Out of Cruddace, Ward, Kelly and Vetock, Ward would be my second choice after Kelly.

A codex that didn't feel like it was thrown together "because they had to" would be nice. I'm sorry but that's just the feeling i got with this one.
So i'm very intrigued and worried at the same time about what will happen in the new codex. It just feels like they are randomly throwing it together everytime and hoping it will work out good. A well functioning Tyranid army needs synergy, i think the Codex should feel like it has that same Synergy as you go through it

I don't really care what they do with the whole allies and supplements thing.. As long as they make sure nid players have acces to pretty much any sort of unit and answers to any unit.
For example if there is some acceptable skyfire in the codex that would make not having any allies less of an issue

Was just overlooking my threads & thought I’d bring this one back from the dead.
Lictors... No mention of Lictors much in the comments. In the 4th ED codex I used to use Lictors all the time. Now, they suck. I’d love to see my Lictors dusted off. Same rules, just make them appear on the first turn for christ sake. It doesn’t make ANY SENSE that they arrive from reserve as normal, and as such, can arrive after you army (potentially). Also Carnifex’s, make them an Elites option again, with some useful upgrades! Why do we have all these head options in the kit that don’t mean anything!!!! Other than that, yeah. Skyfire please..... A weapon that has a good chance of doing something.
