I believe inquisitors handbook has lists to go in that general direction. Roll the dice and get lucky or pre make with the desired path.

Firstly, don't use the Adeptus Sororitas career from The Inquisitor's Handbook. Use the one from Blood of Martyrs. Secondly, if you want to make her an Inquisitor for Ascension-level play, then just follow the steps in Ascension. Choose an appropriate transition package and then choose the Inquisitor career.

It's how Sisters operate. I would get it, and focus on a few areas that feel right for the type of character you're trying to create.

I for one recommend the Inquisitor's Handbook version over the BoM as far as Adepta Sororitas characters are concerned, but it comes down to a matter of personal preferences.

I dislike where the responsible designers have taken the "Faith" aspect to (-> space magic with lights shining out of your eyes, the character being turned into the group's buff whore, etc), and think it does not do their original background a lot of justice. Also, I believe the BoM version to be an XP trap that lets you start out as somewhat overpowered to the rest of the group, yet has you fall back later in the game as you're unable to keep up with your friends due to how much XP stuff costs. Lastly, the branching IH variant is a better representation of how a Sororitas "evolves", given that the lifestyle of the different Orders' characters is identical in both Schola upbringing and novitiate, so their skillset should have considerable overlap between their specialisations.

To be honest, I'd much prefer a sort of mix between the IH and the BoM rules, but if I had to choose one I'd go for the Inquisitor's Handbook version any day.

You should see for yourself which of the two you'd prefer, or at least gather more information about the differences between them before making a decision based on a handful of random people on the internet just saying "X is better".

Either way, regardless of whether or not you'll opt for IH or BoM in the end, the Ascension supplement indeed has the rules for converting the character into an Inquisitor. If your group operates on such a high character level.
Just to be safe: what are you actually looking for, here? Character advancement beyond rank 8, or just turning an existing character into an Inquisitor regardless of level? Because this would make a huge difference.

Well, the character would still have their normal abilities and equipment.

That being said, I too am unsure whether it was truly necessary to basically force the decision between "Fate or Faith" on Sororitas characters, rather than just adding a mechanic such as, say, "you've got Faith Points equal to your Willpower Bonus", or make players roll a dice like it worked in GW's Inquisitor RPG.
Some of the Acts of Faith in Blood of Martyrs are ridiculously powerful, though. Me, I'd rather see smaller bonuses I could use in addition to Fate Points.

Not really. The Acts of Faith aren't so important as to be the only thing between victory and defeat. Their nice bonuses, but they're not your chief weapon. On top of that, you don't really "run out" of Fate Points, as they reset between sessions (as long as you aren't burning them, that is).

Ouphh, Deathwatch?

Honestly, in that case I'd consider just using Deathwatch rules to create the character using a modified Marine career. In my personal opinion, the differences between the systems are too vast to make for fun crossovers. An Ascension-level character has a ton of skills and talents more than the Marines, yet comes with less powerful weapons/armour and special rules (unless you're playing the broken Vindicare or Psyker), and - considering that DW enemies are scaled to be a threat to DW characters - are much more at risk of dying quickly.

It's not the most elegant solution ... but I would regard it as more elegant than going through the trouble of getting several books of a different gaming system just to create a character and level them all the way up to Rank 9+, reading up on the differences in the rules and trying to keep them all in mind mid-play, and then noticing that there's (likely) still going to be issues.

In case you're interested, on the FFG forums there was a recent thread about "Sisters of Battle in Deathwatch" where I've posted some possible houserules. They shouldn't take too much modification for an ex-Sororitas Inquisitor.
The forums are currently down as FFG is (finally) changing its software, but if you'd like I can look up the thread later. Or you go and try to find it yourself; I think it was in the Deathwatch Game Masters or Deathwatch House Rules section.

Just to show you another option, mind you. In the end, it's up to you - and likely your GM, which whom you should confer with regarding a possible choice between the Inquisitor's Handbook or Blood of Martyrs as well.

jbsnv wrote:isnt spending and burning the same damn thing?
Naw. "Spending" refers to pulling off the minor ... errh, legal cheats, for a lack of better words. Stuff like adding a bit of damage, healing, rerolling dice, etc. Spent Fate Points regenerate.
"Burning" Fate is for the big stuff, such as turning a character's death into "oh look, he/she barely survived" and stuff. Burnt Fate does not regenerate, meaning you sacrifice that point permanently.

According to this message on their website, they are expecting the new forum to launch in about two days.
They said all the content from the old one would be migrated. Let's hope this is true.

Google has archived the first two pages of the thread. It's not everything (for example it didn't archive the posts about an alternative Acts of Faith mechanic), but just in case you don't want to wait 2 days just to take a peek at it:

No problem! Good luck with your game, regardless of the path you choose.

Also, I just noticed my remarks on a potential alternative Faith system are found in reply #11 on page 1. Thought I posted them later, but apparently not!
