Hey Guys, we need your help to make Dark Skies a reality

Dark Skies is an aerial combat wargame, the miniatures are 1:72 (24mm) aircraft with ww1/ww2 aesthetics with a touch of fantasy, from light fighters to huge flying carriers. There are 6 factions: The Kingdom of England, the Germanic Empire, The Kingdom of Iberia, the Russian Empire, the Gallic Duchy and the Foreign Legion (Mercenaries). Andy Chambers will do a final edit of the rules and Plastcraf will do the scenery.

"watch the video above to know the contain"? casted? light-weighted? "Foker" aircraft?

You **might** want to check spelling/phrasing here and there before launching something like this...
Doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Am I to understand this right-

You put jet engines on ww1 aircraft?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

The miniatures aren't too inspiring yet, but some of the hinted at larger flyers might turn out to be something special!

Also:

River Horse's Game Designer/Editor Andy Chambers (extensive works on Warhammer 40.000, Starship Troopers, Dust Tactics, Necromunda, etc.) will do a Final Edit on the Dark Skies rule set.

Looks interesting. As a long time fan of Crimson Skies I love alternate history early 20th century air combat (what a niche!) so I look forward to seeing how this Kickstarter develops. The initial planes don't do much for me, especially the German designs. I will have to wait until more model designs are revealed before considering a pledge.

Is there background information on the game setting that can be found somewhere?

I just hope the rules are descent; I could care less about the figures. I have buckets of aircraft models and figures, everything from Crimson Skies to 1/72 scale plastic models.

Sorry for my "Engrish", we are working on it. Foker with only one "K" was on purpose. The rulebook will be translated by a professional and edited by Andy Chambers. Dylan Owen will read-proof the final version of the rulebook (he was Proof-reader of Black Library for a while).

A couple of PDF documents with a rules overview and background info will be on-line soon!

Ordinarily I would be pretty excited for something like this (well actually i'd be annoyed because its more competition for me (lol, what competition? (joke)) but you haven't shown me anything that makes me want to give you my money. No inspiring or interesting gameplay mechanics, no pretty models (Ok the Volcano is pretty nice but the rest are kinda meh), no awesome artwork, etc. It looks kind of... amateurish...

Also, not trying to belabor the point, but dice is already plural. It's the plural of "die". Dices means something entirely different.

Looking at it I think it is a prop plane with the propellers left off to indicate motion. I don't see an exhaust for the 'jets'.

A lot of new things and updates have been coming to the Dark Skies project! Please help us to make it a reality.

The game mechanics allows players to enjoy a 3D gameplay, the stands can go up and down to represent the different altitude levels and the manoeuvres and aerial techniques create an engaging system of air clashes.

Andy Chambers (extensive works on Warhammer 40.000, Starship Troopers, Dust Tactics, Necromunda, etc.) will do a final Edit on the rules to guarantee balanced and refined rules and Dylan Owen (Proof-read 42 titles for the Black Library) will proof-read the final version of the rulebook.

There are right now 5 factions, but more will be revealed in future! Check them out:

The Kingdom of England:
In the game board, the Kingdom of England has the most agile fighters in the Dark Skies: the Warfly, light armoured but high defence skills. The medium and heavy aircraft of the Kindom of England have one of the highest fire rate making dozens of gunfire bursts. More tactical players that what to make agile movements while heavier aircrafts give support fire, will enjoy playing with the Kindom of England Army.

The Germanic Empire:
In the game board, the Germanic possesses the superior fire power in the middle-heavy aircrafts. The lighter fighters like the Foker D1 are reliable and highly manoeuvrable allow the players to take advantageous positions. Offensive and daring players will be right at home with the Germanic army!

The Russian Empire:
The gameplay of the Russian army is based on the high number of its ranks to overwhelm and crush the enemy. The MS3 and the MS7 cover most of the needs any player would demand on any army, and you can flood the game board with them. The Black October is a hard hitter that provides heavy fire power to your vanguard. If you like big armies with lots of resources to overcome your enemies, the Russian Empire, is the perfect army for you.

The Cthulhu Creatures:
The Cthulhu are few in the game board but quite powerful and their unique rules and nature make the creatures an interesting army to play. Combining the resources and abilities of the different creatures can cause serious mayhem in the enemy lines but if the creatures are isolated and surrounded can be suppressed. Skilled players that know how to combine resources and love super-elite armies with few but impressive miniatures will find the in Cthulhu faction a source of unlimited fun.

The Foreign Legion (Mercenaries):

Players can fully customize their Foreign Legion army choosing aircrafts from any other faction and adding unique rules and aces to make their own individual armies. With just a few but very powerful miniatures the Foreign Legion is a great choice of an army for those players who like maximize their resources and use many powerful aces at the same time.
Lothar von Stauffemberg, Mike Yegar and Auryl the Winged are some examples of the Aces from the foreign Legion.

We’ll bring more news soon, check for new updates in the project every day and do not hesitate to contact us in our Kickstarter project with any doubt you may have (In English and Spanish).

As much as I like plane-games (I own all of Wings of Glory and Crimson Skies) I do have several problems with this game for now.

> Size, the planes are to big for that few details we see at the moment, also it makes the table needed unnecessary large.
> Design. There is something called suspension of disbelief, i.e. how far you can stretch a design beyond what is physically possible. Some of the planes shown stretch it too far and for this look too strange to the eye.

Examples. German cannard design. Structurally these planes would break up in the air cause the stress on the frame would be too much. The hull is too thin where it would need to be way stronger. Also the mass center is off and the plane would have real problems not "toppling over" in the air. Also the middle Vickers wings are to thin where they touch the hull, they couldn´t bear the weigth and pressure when turning and break.

The rest looks interesting. But the problem really is that Crimson Skies did a way better job back then in these two areas and people are wondering why they should play DS instead of CS.

Just my 0.02 cents......The air craft look like they where just slapped together. Almost like there was no thought put into creating them. I didnt look at the rules and maybe that is where the game shines. But as for the minis........Ill just stop right there.

The scale is really massive, as well. I expected more detail for this size
