Seems reasonable to me. I guess we'll have to wait and see what mixed bag of tricks the devs have in store for the abilities of the Marines. I mean SM had plenty of horizontal progression. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if they just copied every single one in SM. Save the Power Axe. That thing is god awful except in the levels you have it in the campaign.
Btw, you're rather reserved on my suggestion on squad based IG. I'm interested in people's opinions and suggestion on my favorite faction and implementing it after the release of superhuman warriors, space elves, and endless tides of snotling green, tainted blood, and ravenous chitin.

Ok. Everyone gets to play Orks as a FTP race. Now, do I have to purchase a monthky subscription to unlock the other races, or do I just purchase the race unlock that I want?
I really don't want to have to pay monthly to play this.
Can anyone, please and politely, shed some light on this?
They compared it to Guild Wars-- which is a "you buy the game at full price, and afterwards you don't ever pay monthly" style MMO.

Though I haven't been keeping up on info for this game for a while and might be missing context.
It sounds to me that he has plenty of respect for the Orks. What I love is that he's using the typical ork boy as an example of the useless players you normally encounter in a game - they fit the lore but are still fun to play as/with, despite being relatively weak individuals. And thats just your typicla boy - we still got all the other classes to discuss. Only 'da boyz will be free.

Right, which is why he calls Orks "Noobs" all the time.

Thanks Melissia. So buy the game, play the game. I'll be getting it for the PS4, and hoping that we have a large amount of Legion colours to choose from for the CSM faction.
Eh, one space marine is the same as the next to me, as far as playing them in a video game goes. I sort of like the puppies and B.Angels as far as fluff goes, but in this game, the differences would be merely cosmetic.

Except you know... they're werewolves and vampires and like biting people... This sounds oddly familiar. Matt Ward might be able to make a better love story.... Maybe.

So what if they're that in the fluff?
In-game there's going to be no difference save for color.

So do Imperial Guard and Sisters of Battle. Hell, Guard wars against Guard more than Space Marines war, period.
I understand your argument Melissa, hell I agree but for the love of the Emperor please let it go. They said they want to put IG in but after release, hopefully Sisters too, lets be happy for what we've got for now.

It was a typo, really going to hold that against someone?

Ah I'm sorry, didn't know it took 2 post to move a conversation on, mate.
On the note of BTs, I can't see them letting have Pyskers - hopefully they still have to answer to GW on the lore side of things. We may not even get Templars which would suck for me.

Wait, what? It's been a full page. I even specifically said I wanted to bring the topic back on topic by metnioning a conversation I had with Miguel. And even just by my posts alone it's been eight posts since then.
Come on. Let's talk about the game.

I understand that, I just wanted to make myself clear because I kept seeing your statement in the old thread and now the new one and didn't want to keep re-reading the arguement.
Anyway I think my biggest concern at the moment is the server side stuff, they said that it would be a huge 'shard' much like Eve/Dota, I never played them but I heard a lot of people complaining about how the chat was filled with different languages causing a lot of problems.

So yeah.. trying to move on by not bringing up things, or re-opening dialog, or pouring salt on old wounds, or picking at scabs.. we get the freaking picture.. move on without adding quips about it, just let it go completely (everyone).
Anyone wonder what impact the weather will actually have on the game? Anyone think we'll see some dangerous weather prevent reliable access to some zones because of the danger? I for one would love to see a mechanic like that....

What kind of dangerous weather would stop Space Marines or Orks? A meteorite storm?

That'd be pretty cool. Perhaps that'd be reserved for an Ork "superweapon" - like the equivalent of an orbital strike, but more random and much larger.
I was thinking perhaps take inspiration from the hostile environments from the old rulebooks. Like acid rain capible of melting metal, or ultra cold.

I think it was Architect of fate that a mission where the Space Marines were forced underground because of huge sandstorm, would be great to have something like that which would hinder your visibility, though I could see it affecting server connections.
Has anyone had any thoughts on what Engine they might use, they stated it will defiantly be a 3rd party engine, hope for Cry Engine here.
What was the Engine used in Space Marine?

Then yeah, definitely Mel. I'd see this working and even adding another level of strategy in some zones. In desert zones, the sun could become your worst enemy, making people either fight in the shade, or wait until the stars come out. Having a zone that's a natural barrier /gate like that is instrumental in the meta-game, with only elite squads or a few lucky ones managing to get across this zone during a period when an enemy line would not be defended.
I LoLed a bit thinking about two small squads duking it out between the slow monolithic bands of shade moving with the sun across the sky. I think that'd be hilarious.
As far as the engine of both EC and SM I don't know. SM however may have been a transplant from Vigil, which was an in-house creation for Darksiders.
Edits cus I'm tired.

Mat
Right now they said they are focusing on the PC version but they are currently talking to Microsoft and Sony about bringing EC to next gen so although I can easily see this happening, this game may be a PC only.

Oh yeah, well, no respectful BT player would risk such a dangerous move, who knows what would happen.
Reading about your post on the SOB and their mechanics made me quite interested in them actually and got me wondering, has this question been asked? That is, is there going to be like a secondary player bar perhaps like ork rage, space marine faith, chaos favour etc as to what mana is to mages? So as orks fight more their rage goes up or something and grants them new abilities?
Vuiet wrote: Several of the developers have stated that they own and currently play Orks, so I don't think they hate the race still, what makes you say that?
Melissia has already pointed out what makes the thought come to mind.
Orks are apparently "noobs", not noobs as in "new players", but noobs as in "assclown".
Which, to be fair, is a highly prestigious form of gamer. The assclown is a force to be reckoned with n online gaming.
