So nobody has read the BT book then, which is littered with references to the Eternal Crusade and the flagship Eternal Crusader. Kind of pointless for me to be in this conversation when Im the only one who did the homework. Carry on.

Attempting to claim that the term "crusade" belongs to the Black Templars shows boundless ignorance of the lore. I've read the BT book. But I have to ask-- have you ever read anything OTHER than the BT book?

I've read the BT book. But I have to ask-- have you ever read anything OTHER than the BT book?
The Ork and Nid codecies for my other two armies, the Vanilla and IG codecies, about 14 HH books, 10 Gaunt books, Helsreach, Night Lords trilogy, Iron Warriors omnibus, Ciaphus Cain omnibus, half the Grey Knights omnibus, Eisenhorn, and just started Ravenor. Maybe missing a few here.
I think weve pretty much established there are specific crusades. Before this game was announced, any BT thread you went into mentioned the Eternal Crusade. Now the game is out, and suddenly its a generic term. If thats how you roll, great. Some of us remember when yes, BT DID in fact own the term. Your recollection of the matter is your own to enjoy. Now if youll excuse me, I have a Crusader squad to finish painting. Been watching a Land Raider Crusader on EBay in the original BT box as well, wish me luck!

Why woudl I go in to a BT thread? Jokes aside, as I said, you have your eight flavors/colors of space marines for this game. Given that there's a thousand chapters and a ton of renegades/legions/etc for chaos, and only four will be included at the start of this game for each Loyalist and Traitor, there's bound to be someone disappointed about what's included somewhere. Personally, though, I'm really more interested in what they plan on doing for Orks and Eldar. I'm guessing Blood Axes, Goffs, Deff Skulls, and Evil Suns, for the clans? The Ork in the image shown in the previous page looks like either Evil Sunz or Blood Axez, and Blood Axez appear to me to be the most common to be depicted.

Anyone notice the SM picture for the reveal?
There's a Devastator, Terminator, Apothecary, and Assault Marine. Pretty much just gave away the classes with that nugget there too. Makes me wonder how you have to choose your class: because Libs have been confirmed as well.. isn't that something like 5 classes?

Seems fine to me, although scouts might be interesting too who would wear lighter armour than SM's and termies but have stealth, snipers and/or speed to make up for it.

I have a tough time believing there will be Terminators in-game. If they were even kind of accurate to fluff, the Termies would be FAR too OP.
That said, I expect all the basics (Tactical, Assault, Devastator) plus at least Apothecaries to act as "healers". I was REALLY hoping for Chaplains. Not sure how that would work - maybe as a "buffer" class - though I'm not sure how many would really like to play that. I certainly would.
Edit: Thank the fething lord the BT aren't one of the SM chapters. I like them and all, but they are overplayed a bit.

Pretty safe choice in chapters, with a nice range of play styles, and some of the most popular chapters represented. Though I imagine it'll be pretty easy to code in additional marine flavours with different art assets over time; bling and some separate buffs/skills and you're basically good to go for whatever colour you want.
I remain cautiously optimistic; there's some real potential here, the devs seem quite communicative (which is increasingly uncommon these days), and they likely have some real dedication here; this could put their studio on the map, and they seem to have inherited a decent selection of talent from other studios.
That being said; Guard. I have, for many years, desired to drive a Leman Russ across a massive online battlefield, able to shout "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword!"
They'd also make a solid 2nd F2P race; offering some diversity from orks, and keeping their numbers high, so they can die gloriously in the name of the Emperor.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Chaplains could play like a paladin class but instead of healing it gives damage buffs...

A good mix. Perhaps specific buffs based on which chapter. A general damage buff seems likely, but I'd love to see health, general D and perhaps even speed-based buffs too. There's a lot that could be done with a Chaplain... I'm hoping the "class" finds its way into the game.

As much as i really dont want to play space marines(goin eldar since there is no Tau) i think it would be badass to ride a damn thunderwolf into some melee carnage!! Might even be worth it to suffer to ork choppas as a blood claw for a while lol Automatically Appended Next Post: Thhat brings up a curiosity though, how close to th lore will they stick? Is every Wolf going to be forced to start as a blood claw? every blood angel as an assault marine and every ultramarine as a scout? I dont know enough about any of the other races to really know where they are supposed to start, but I am definitely curious.

My main ambition is to become a chaplain but what are the blood angels chaplains like? Do all of them see to the red thirst in battle?
Edit: And I also totally forgot about the posibilities of Thunder Wolves, imagine seeing about 30 of them race towards you. I suppose I would just pray the guys behind me brought their heavy weapons.

You mean about the playable factions? The website states SW DA BA and UM.
I was starting to think what sort of chapter bonuses we could see. These are mere suggestions
BA- Red thirst special ability: lose all control for a period of time, you will lose health over time but gain a significant boost in damage and must keep killing in order to slow the health loss. I was thinking this should encourage the fluff of the red thirst to resonate within gameplay. You could be part of a DA company and witness a group of BA go mental against the enemy as they must to survive the duration of the effect.
DA- No idea what this one could be, perhaps something to do with Terminator and bikes/speeder bonuses? Such as lower requisition cost or something
UM- Again no idea, I dont know what makes UM 'special' compared to the others since I dont really read about UM.
SW- Maybe just having the special access to Fenrisian Wolves as part of their bodyguard or mount or perhaps a bezerker ability.
What do you guys reckon will be good faction bonuses?

a dark secret under the surface do not have to (thx Sigvatr) be necrons
and it would take so much more content into the game what would make the development harder and longer which is totally unnecessary
so i say: no necrons on our first planet!

I really like the art style.
People have said that Terminators would we OP, but I don't think this would necessarily be the case.
Firstly, Terminators aren't unkillable on the TT. Lucky shots, weight of fire or high AP weapons can kill them.
I think they could play like MAXes in Planetside 2. These are very tough but require extra resources to spawn, and have a timer preventing them from being used for a few minutes.
Additionally, two or three regular infantry can wear them down and people with explosives or rocket launchers can put a big hole in them.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Not surprised by the choice of chapters: those are the traditional 'big four'.

Troike, thanks again for your support to you all including Melissa who I WILL find a way to make her happy... :-)
Actually, the team and I and trying a lot of different combination for sub-faction Troike but we have a few obstacles mainly regarding the asymmetric balance we want to reach.
What I mean is that, lets say for ONLY the sake of discussion we add Sisters of Battles ;-) How will the Squad, StrickeForce and the Faction War Consul leaders of both Sisters and SM will act towards each others?
Same with, again just for the sake of discussion, Daemonette and Chaos SM?
We are making a game where YOU will drive it. We are certain worries that for the first example Sisters and SM will 90% of the time team against other Factions which could give them a serious balance advantage in terms of populations.
We are NOT saying no, I am just saying that we need more design time to find the right solution.
Have a GREAT weekend!
With love and appreciation!
Miguel

Hehe. I have high standards, and a lot of people don't understand them For Sisters vs Space Marines, you can easily create tension between the two factions by having conflicting objectives given to the faction leaders. Say the Space Marines want to take a relic and put it in their own relic repository, but the Sisters want to protect the shrine it's in, and keep it for themselves. It's not something to do ALL the time, but Sisters and Space Marines DO fight in the lore-- and originally, way back in Rogue Trader days, Sisters were introduced with them wiping out an entire Space Marine chapter, a feat which they have repeated a few times (to greater or lesser levels of success).

Same said for daemons vs CSM and pretty much everything. If you've played the DoW games, it kinda fits how it works sometimes. Everyone has an ulterior motive.
In terms of CSM and daemons, Khorne likes any bloodshed so Khorne v Khorne is completely fine to him (as long as it maximises the slaughtering and war), Tzeentch is all for mind games will mess with fates killing certain chaos lords and even his own chaos daemons and pitting them against eachother, Slaanesh will whisper pleasures and sometimes Slaanesh marines might find pleasure in killing slaanesh daemons as they are "perfection and pleasure incarnate" to them, whilst nurgle might be fighting to make the best contagion.
