For those who aren't aware the first warzone release for apocalypse will be coming out soon & it is set on Armageddon. As a Steel Legion player I was immediately ecstatic because the Steel Legion is now OOP & perhaps this Armageddon themed warzone would introduce new products? Games Workshop has new Armegeddon themed formations available on their website & whats this? Cadians?

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?prodId=prod2090131a

Now I haven't had a chance to read Yarrick: Chains of Golgotha, but I have almost every Armageddon related material dating back to 3rd Edition & I don't recall a single instance where Cadians were even mentioned. I'm sure its Games Workshops attempt at making a quick buck, but its kind of insulting. Cadians exploits can be found all over the universe. Little to nothing is known about Steel Legion except for their deeds during wars on Armageddon & they couldn't even bother using them for Armageddon material? Can anyone find a quote or something that states Cadians fought on Armageddon?

in the book "Gunheads" they mention other Cadian regiments fighting on Armaggeddon while they are stuck on a gak-hole of a planet looking for yarrick's lost tank!

I still agree with the OP, if they were releasing a Armageddon themed apocalypse set it should have been with Steel Legion, stupid that they are touting the Cadians (though there is nothing wrong with them) they are just very generic, nice if they focused on other IG armies.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

Yarrick: Chains of Golgotha isn't set on Armageddon. It's set on Golgotha in a skirmish set between the second and third war for Armageddon.

Regardless of who is fighting, those fortifications are bloody fugly as sin. Have the people designing their terrain these days never seen buildings, fortifications and weapon emplacements?

Excellent find DraconicLord. I don't know how I missed this. Looking at the Force Disposition In 3rd Armageddon War page in the 3rd edition codex right now. I am really surprised at the amount of contribution they made yet little is ever mentioned of them. They supplied 15 regiments, while there were only 25 regiments of Steel Legion present during the 3rd war? Interesting.

I'll have to pick that up as well. I've only read the Horus Heresy novels. Gotta catch up!

Correct. I was just throwing that out there in the event that it did give some details on the end of the 2nd war or perhaps the beginning of the 3rd & outlined troop stations or something to that effect. I've heard there is a very interesting interaction between Warboss ghazghkull & Yarrick in it.

Also worth noting is that the equipment the cadian troops carry is supposed to be "standard issue" for the Imperium. Even though the art depicts the Steel Legion as having their own unique uniform, it wouldnt surprise me if some of them were issued Cadian style equipment (no doubt at least some of those 120 regiments of militia would have received them considering the impact the ork invasion would have had on armageddons manufacturing capability.

Stupid?

GW products are all plastic these days. The only plastic IGuard are Cadians (since the Catachans are so ugly they don't count).

Hence, plastic Cadians.

And don't start suggesting plastic Steel Legion. As cool as that would be, Forge World stole the "Guys in Trenchcoats and gasmasks" when they made the Death Korps. Which, amusingly enough, were originally just Steel Legion models painted in gray. However, it means GW won't undercut its own product by offering an equivalent, cheaper.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

A very large conflict like Armageddon will have regiments from dozens of worlds. It would be pretty rare to have a large conflict with all regiments hailing from a single planet.
