How does Legendary Fighter and Reanimation Protocol's work with each other, there was a situation where the Avatar had Legendary Fighter and he slew the Necron Character in combat and then consolidated only for him to get back up and charge the Avatar next turn. The Avatar killed him again and moved off and then once more the Character got back up and was charged again on the Avatars turn and finally killed for good.

Does this confer the Eldar player 3 victory points because Legendary Fighter says you gain a victory point for each enemy character slain in a challenge?

The character was not slain - they were not removed as a casualty until they finaly failed their RP roll

nos, by your logic, you can NEVER gain a VP for legendary fighter, as you cause them to fail enough wounds that they are RFPAAC, not slain. Does RP/EL not function off of being RFPAAC? you dont UNDO the kill, like FNP would. You are merely being allowed to place the model back on the table.
My opinion? yeah eldar player gets 3 extra VP. One of the consequences of having an ability that lets you replace dead models; you can keep killing them for super VP. Also, if it was the warlord, you'd get 2 VP/kill (potentially 3 if it was kill points)
So yeah, until necrons get a similar FAQ update that celestine got, make sure your legendary fighter warlord repeatedly murders necron characters for all those juicy VP.

I think Nos has it, as a unit would not grant a VP unless they stay dead. It's not a new model coming to the game but the same one, that is obviously not slain.

RP/EL doesn't replace models - it's the same model.
Read the DE FAQ for a similar ability (Pain Tokens) and the ruling (only when the unit is actually destroyed).
