Well, it might not be particularly honest, per se... but I think it is smart to keep the differences quiet for now. Everyone is wanting a digital version of the game... I know I do... so the longer they keep quiet on how alike or different they are, the longer the game is exactly what everyone's imaginations want it to be. :-p

I will say, when Hex strikes a blow to Magic the Gathering, and it will, I have no doubt, I hope people note that there are spaces for these kinds of games to evolve in the digital age. I would pay, and then pay often for microtransactions if someone could smartly, and fairly, map our table-top miniatures, army collecting/painting, hobby, into a videogame.

Well, doesn't the MtG digital game already represents 15% of the earnings for the franchise (don't know if that is the correct term)?

This point alone should prove that there is a real market for micro-transaction fuelled digital renditions of popular card and table top games.

What is really exciting is that it proves there's still interest in turn based strategy. Hopefully we can see a better variety of games being released, rather than yet another first person shooter.

A fluff compendium add-on would sell like hotcakes. People have been clamoring for one on the PP forum for years.

Granted, this game might do that too. We'll see.

Yep, it's super needed. I don't know why they don't do it. As someone who started playing in Mark II, I would pick it up in a heartbeat!

Technically Kickstarter rules prohibit using existing product in a Kickstarter. I know some companies have gotten away with it, but I think that is probably the issue here. Although, a GIFT CARD to the PP store with a suggestion of a Battlebox purchase might slip by.....

Or possibly funding a "Histories of the Iron Kingdoms" or whatever book as a stretch goal to publish it and have it up for add-ons.

But seriously, dice first. Someone who has backed should spam the dice as a stand-alone add-on in the comments

Gift Cards/Discounts/Vouchers are also against the rules.

I think they've gotten plenty of exposure to the gaming masses. With the inclusion of the miniatures, any non-TT gamers will do the research, while it leaves stretch goals and pledge rewards to the main goal which is the video game.

They definitely have. I've already had two people walk into the store and ask about Warmachine purely because they'd backed this project.

Maybe - at the very least they should link to the summer deals page on the KS main page - those are still active I think.

I'm hoping for dice, and/or background book (would be good for TT gamers and videogamers).

I think if they released a background book for the pre MKII events, it would add a lot of money to the kickstarter.

People have been asking for a background compilation forever.

Seems like they would want to make that it's own release and not piggy back it on the Kickstarter. The amount of potential money in that...

From the sound of it, it doesn't sound like there are plans for any further add ons, which, while there is no doubt that the campaign has already been a resounding success, will keep it from reaching the heights it could have. Just feels like it's starting to get sluggish. $24k more is needed to get the apotheosis Jacks, and after that, it's $160k to the next stretch goal, and I have doubts that without something to get people that have gone in for either all of the models, or all that they want to pledge more, you won't see that Khador/Menoth mission pack at release.

This is a trend for all Kickstarters. Funding is usually strong at the beginning or end, but not in the middle.

Pity, I feel like it's a lot of money they are passing on.

They may be passing on money, but there's a limit to what they could offer to get it

1. Existing PP stuff this would cannibalise sales and upset distributors & retailers

2. New stuff for the TTG, takes time and money to sculpt & produce, and playtest/balance (and again risks upsetting existing partners but probably not as badly as no 1)

and both of the above would get relatively little for the computer game anyway as KS funds committed to buy it would need to be spent on it not the game anyway

3. Random 'tat' (t-shirts, prints etc) possible but they would not get much extra per backer, and again would risk distracting PP from their core stuff (and 3rd party suppliers can always let you down)

4. More simple in-game stuff: possibly the best way to get extra but stretching for too insignificant a goal might turn folk off, it's a delicate balance

Well, it looks like a few other things are getting added in for the Tactics game (alternate WC designs sounds like), and art prints (expensive ones), but no cross system things for the Tabletop game, which I think is what a lot of people really wanted. While this is primarily a KS for the video game release, I would imagine a very large chunk of the funding is coming from people buying in to get the models for the tabletop game. Hopefully they'll get SOMETHING else as an add on for it and make my previous post wrong, cause this is one case where I would REALLY like to be.

The warcaster mod kits sounds like a brilliant idea, partially because, if it requires the original sculpt as implied in the latest update, it'll drive a lot of business to FLGSes as well as help the Kickstarter. Definitely a fan!

Less than $2000 to go for the next goal

Everythings going about as predicted at this point - 30k a day is actually really good, and will mean at least 1.6 million even without a kick up at the end (though it must be noted, the kick at the end is usually smaller for Video Games than it is for Tabletop projects). I'm pretty certain we'll see Retribution in it, and probably another goal beyond.

Boom, unlocked the next stretch goal, character jacks and something else fun!
