I am pretty sure we performed leaps and bounds better than healthcare.gov!

Well, the site crashed. People couldn't register without slow page loads. So nope. I'd say nope.

Especially since the swag bag number is completely arbitrary in the first place. Make it time frame based. Not #s based. Especially due to the website problems.

The swag bag number is very much not arbitrary, its how much support they have from sponsors, vendors, etc, they don't do 1000 for no reason. If they did time frame based they'd be on the hook for like, another 500 full swag bags - that money has to come from somewhere.

It sucks dude, but that's the way it goes - they do a good job handling the traffic considering how crazy it is, could they handle it smoothly without a hiccup? Sure! Would it cost them more money and translate into additional costs for all of us? Darn tooting!

Target ninja'ed me, but swag bag #'s are not arbitrary. How many you can reasonably pursue from sponsors, plus how much branded shwag you'll put in, etc., all factors into how many you can actually provide. If you can't get a sponsor to give you 1400 minis for bags, you can't do 1400 bags (or however many).

Actually the site never crashed. Max database connections exceeded - yep. excessive load due to 1400 people smashing their F5 key - yep. The first 1000 people get some extra stuff and that has to be managed. Sponsors are giving us stuff out of pocket for those bags, and we cannot assume/ask for more. Even if you didn't make the first 1000, you still get a swag bag. It might be missing a few items, but it isn't like you went from getting everything to nothing.

Matthias, you'd mentioned checking the registration number that was the last full swag bag, do you happen to know what that is?

Also quoting over my prior question since it got caught by the page rollover

The thing that's a bit crazy to me about this whole process is that I really wonder how many additional people would sign up for these events if there were unlimited spots.

Last year we had something like 60+ on the 40K Championship waitlist and 30+ teams on the 40K Team Tourney wait list.. It is hard to say as once the event sells out and the first batch send in waitlist requests. I imagine most people stop trying.

Hey muwhe,

Could you update on how many of those teams got into the Team Tourney last year? And, were some of them informed well ahead of time (hopefully- and if so, around what timeframe?) and the last few just at the event itself? I've never been on a waitlist like this before so just curious what the process is.

Fingers crossed...

@Ritides -

I would say the odds are pretty good.

As for swag bag items -

For any items that AdeptiCon controls the production of we produce in excess of 1500.

Many vendors supply quantities in excess of 1,000 .

We stuff bags until we run out of things to stuff them with...

Okay, well that helps then . I've been feeling like jerk #1 being the guy who was supposed to get our team registered, and coming in just a hair too late on it.

Cheers and I promise not to bother you guys about it for several days while you work out the list

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

I did the bare minimum last night at 7:00pm just to grab my 40k championship ticket, and then when I logged on a few hours later to grab some seminars for Friday they were all sold out.

I guess I will have to start working on a Taudar army so I can make the final 16 so I have something to do on Friday.

The problem with the Team Tournament is that everyone just grabs a ticket knowing that they are hard to come by and then tries to find a team later. They is why the TT sells out so fast and some teams are left out.

You could always organize a Dakkadakka AdeptiClubs event, volunteer, BS with Mike Mutscheller or do Jaegar shots with Brad.

So if I registered early enough to get the full swag bag (the checkout said I'd get a full one) what kind of stuff should I expect? I've never been to a convention of any type before, so I have no idea.

Idk what adepticons will be. But nova open this year had a sprue of 10 female zombies, a shot glass, a laser pointer, a small bits bag, some resin custom bases, some other sample type stuff. That's probably what you can expect out of adepticon I'd think. It's usually sample type stuff to get you informed and interested in their sponsors.

Usually you can expect to see a Unique mini (exclusive to the convention), every year Adepticon does one for Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Sportsball.

Last year's:

Privateer Press has thrown starter sets into the bags the last few years.

Wow. I'm used to running swag bags- a t-shirt and a few coupons. Any of the above would be epic really.

Adepticons is usually pretty epic, last year mine had some random limited edition mini's/promo zombicide figures, as well as a hordes starterset.

And often, interesting little things that end up being really neat. Adepticon was the first place I saw (and received) GF9's "Tac Template," for example.

AdeptiCon 2014 Wait Lists
Current wait lists for all major events can be found here.

These lists will be updated as people receive tickets for each event. You might not see much movement right away, but with the rush of registration, we tend to see people buying stuff they really cannot commit to and they tend to request refunds down the road.

If at any point you would to be removed from a wait list, please let us know.

When a ticket becomes available, we will contact you to see if you are still interested in participating. You will have one week to respond before the ticket is passed on to the next person on the wait list. If you are still interested, you will need an active AdeptiCon webcart account and have purchased an AdeptiCon 2014 Weekend Badge (this can be bought when notified of an available wait list ticket).

Swag Bag Cutoff
We have exceeded 1000 registered attendees! Your Swag Bag status is determined by your Weekend Badge Order Number. If your Order Number is 8015 or lower, your are within the first 1000 registered attendees. Anyone who purchases a Weekend Badge going forward will still receive a Swag Bag (including the exclusive AdeptiCon miniatures), however it is not guaranteed to contain everything advertised from our sponsors.

Draft Rules
Here is the first set of event rules. These are all still considered in draft form.

Warhammer 40K Championships
Warhammer 40K Team Tournament
Warhammer Fantasy: The Return of the Big Brawl
Warhammer Fantasy: It's How You Use It Tournament
Warhammer Fantasy Championships
Warhammer Fantasy Team Tournament

Registered Teams lists are next!

7th on the wait list, not quite as high as I'd hoped. Any idea how many teams made it off the list last year / usually make it (just a guess?).

Also, I'm like the 990th attendee (put in the team request first then went back and got my pass).

We went through several teams...20ish I want to say and still were missing 5 full teams the day of the event (we had terrible weather leading into the weekend).

I'm in the low 20's for the Friendly, what do you think my chances of getting to play are?

Hard to say for sure given we have only 72 slots for the Friendly.

However, I am pretty certain that day of we will be looking to fill spots.

Friendly was set at 60 slots last year, sold out, and ran day of with 52. Some of that maybe due to weather, some due to people making the Championship 16 and others no shows.

Generally, if you are willing to roll the dice events are looking to fill slots morning of these events.

How will the new Inquisitorial Detachment be handled for the team tournament? Will you just be unable to take it since you can't take allies?

@TimmyMWD - Going to let it settle in for a few days but we are looking at how we will address it in the context of the AdeptICon Team Tourney format.

My personal opinion after having read the thing is that it does very little that allying in GK inquisition couldnt already do. Just allows you to do it with more armies (All Imperial). With that in mind if you are not allowing allies, I wouldnt allow this either. Really just allowed the SoB to have access to Inquisition again (which I approve of, but doesnt excuse GW from making a PROPER SoB codex.....come on GW) and allows the Inquisitors access to a more basic Space marine (red scorpions) that arent GK. My thoughts is no. Maybe a poll to see what people think with the criteria of no other allies being allowed in the tournament? BTW you guys run an awesome event....KEEP IT UP!!
