I stopped gaming for several years in my mid-late 20s.
I didn't stop being a nerd, though.

There is a difference. I went out quite a lot, engaged in "social intercourse" with girls/women (that's 'talked to/with' in case you were thinking dirty thoughts ) and even went clubbing.

Course, then I found out that many of the people I would go clubbing with WERE also gamers. So it didn't matter, really.

Pardon..no they're not toys behind me!...What do you mean it's nerdy to have this many books?!..Yes that is the Star Wars set next to the LOTR dvd set on the shelf with my Stargate collection....well damn, I guess I am a bit nerdy.

The point I'm making is that yoy can enjoy the dark side but still have a life and be active doing other stuff. If people don't want to talk to you because of what you play or interests then they are not people you should befriend anyway. But the more you have interests in different things (nerdy and other stuff) the more friends you will have.
