@Inevitable_Faith, I think you may be biased in your scoring. The Wyches and Kabalites were awesome when I first started DE. (Christmas right after they got their resculpts) and the Hellions and Scourges are even better.

The Crows: Elite gang with close ties too H.A.M.Y. Gang I.D. is black bodyglove and gold/yellow armor
Valkyrie: Defacto leader, Name taken from Mon-Keigh legends she identifies with of winged females that harvested the greatest warriors as slaves/concubines. (38,000 years is going to introduce corruption and translation errors.)
Magpie: thieving scavanger, ALL equipment was stolen, prefers to swoop in and kill-steal.
Raven: slightly clumsy, ditzy, but reliable and highly adept at hit and run attacks. (Personality adapted from secondary/tertiary character Raven from the webcomic Questionable Content, 3474 pages so far.)
LaCroix: ex-harlequin player, grew vengeful after a Craftworld Psycher lost control releasing demons that slew his lover. (Based on Eric Draven from the 1994 movie The Crow, his body-type is simmilar and his helmet matches the eye makeup.)
Talon: Wrack on permanent loan from H.A.M.Y. to the Crows

You're talking to a demented grot tinkerer here - as long as you're not making everbody do the burny dance, it's OK. Take your time, change your goals if necessary, and keep on breathing. Things tend to work themselves out!

@ Inevitable_Faith: BloodBrides, Daemonetes, and Reaper miniatures as a start. Right now Urias and their creations are a vague nebulous idea at the moment. The only certainty is that I'll be using the female from the Eldar Triumverate as the base model for Urias themself.

In other news, I'm working on condensing and mobilizing my painting setup, Gangs of Commorragh will be mine soon, I must not buy fleet number 3 or 4, plan got busted in a good way.

Didn't want anything that was in my budget but needed to spend $5 as an entry fee for a 1 round tournament. So I got a gift certificate. I didn't win but the organizer is awesome and I got a mystery box in the raffle everyone but the top winners are entered in. The way that the organizer and FLGS handle it is a percentage of the entry fee is used as prize support in the form of gift certificates and depending on how much we spend the top 1-3 players get that instead.

The basing on the two front models looks really good, is it two different types of flock then some bush scenery? My vote is definitely the Mad Hatter.

Actually the bases are just 2-3 layers of flock, ink and the shrubbery NI! and occasionally tall grass. I'll go more in depth later but today is a drop and run post.

With 1.5 votes Seamus has won the planning stages. Brain and painting que are a tad sadistic/evil currently so I may do chaotic neutral Henderson or whiny boyscout Luke as an attempt at decency.

I love the Marvel Cinematic universe (NOT X-men 2+, Wolverine, Derptastic 4, SpiderMan not counting the one coming out soon, etc.), I love Ryan Renolds' Deadpool, Disney has made 2 great Star Wars movies, best of the 8 in my opinion (if I wanted sociopolitical I'd watch NextGen Treck and original trilogy Luke is a whiny baby). I would sacrifice Guardians of the Galaxy 3, or Deadpool 2 with Keira Knightley as Cable for Wonder Woman 2.

Huge update, those bones minis will keep you busy for a good long while for sure. Weathering powders on raiders? did I read that right? I'm excited to see that come together, I've always wanted to try using weathering powders.

@ Inevitable_Faith: Yup, weathering powders, bronze decks for H.A.M.Y.'s ride + wrack cleaners = coroded decks. Early playing indicates I needed to add solid plates under the raised decks and finish everything else first, dull-coat, then use the powders. I really need to re-prioritize the raider now...
As for the bones: Loads of minis just arrived adding another 3+ months to my multi year backlog. I'll cool it on the buying right? Ah-hahaha, no. Lets add Zombicide Green Horde, 6 humanoids, 2 droids, 2 undead chunky dire wolves and a big ol' snake in there. And 3 more human size-ish fairies soon.

Today: (Shamelessly stoleded from my Farce Book)
Had an enjoyable day today unintentionally grief-ing my opponents.
Game one, gave my opponent a tricky challenge of a game during the bulk of it. Didn't realize he'd missed the end of round warning so he was playing long game tactics in the last 5 minutes. We tied 4 vs 4 when he could have won 5 or 6 to 3.

Lunch: Organizer (as usual) got Evil Greasers (My ex-employer) pizza. Knowing I always passed he grabbed me a sandwich. Awesome guy.

Game two, vs a newer guy. Took a leader for the second time ever. One he'd played before and hated. Made his brand new shiny (24% of his list) useless with one model I hired (12% of mine), and a guy I summoned basically for free using a dirty trick I learned from being on the receiving end of. I then proceeded to have my leader use the same victim against him adding insult to injury. However he got the last laugh as I gloriously lost 3 to 9.

Game 3, technically a bye, organizer vs me. Didn't "count" in determining tournament score. I was still in tournament mindset. He played an under-powered theme list that is extremely hard to play all day regardless of goals. I took the obvious 3 victory points I didn't have to do anything to claim and a reasonably competitive list. He fought an uphill battle and got 6 vp, I earned 6-7 vp and got the 3 free vp for a 9-10 vs 6 win. inaccuracy because we didn't bother with my last couple actions after he was activated out in the last turn and the winner was clear.

Not my greatest moments, but only one was my fault. I feel bad about how sucky of games for my opponents had but my only dk move was taking the 3 free vp in the friendly game at the end so I still had fun and honestly expected game three to be a lot closer.

And what about the purchases? HMMMM?
I only bought the Titania box and evil droids! The Scion was a prize!

Seamus looks awesome and that Titania is great. Love her skin tones, I've always struggled to get believable darker skin tones, what did you use here?

I'm really happy with how Seamus turned out but something tells me the familiar legends will fair better in this month's UnOfficial Dakka Painting Competition.

And Titania is just one of Reaper's blacks (Label is too faded to read) dry-brushed with Reaper Clotted Red. Sooo not really natural. If I wanted a human skin-tone around the same color I'd swap the red for a 50/50 mix of Reaper Mahogany and Reaper Earth Brown. In generic terms, dark red/brown color and neutral brown. You could also base coat with the brown mix and use a black wash for similar results.

Also spent an hour giving the skin on these their brush coat to get the spots the spray missed so I can start slowly finishing them ready for dipping.


Tried out a couple of my Fey earlier and have this weeks goal, Thorn gets progress (probably just skin), Aeslin to assembled (need to do her legs, dress interior, and support roots before I can finish assembling her), and finish the bloody duelist/handler (her sword. That is all she's needed for 2-3 days now).

Lots of cool stuff. I like the women in purple with the wings, very cool.

Those female knights and Pirate lady look great. I'm not against the pinup/sexy style of female models many companies make (I'm a huge fan of KD miniatures after all) but it is refreshing to see that some more realistic female models are out there and well done. You've done great on them. The blue imp guy has a vicious looking weapon, love the beat copper look he has for his armour.

On another note I see some Wych bitz on the painting table, anticipation rising.

Oh, my current collection of "good" brushes, AKA the ones I'll use. I picked up some new toys at Dick Blick today:


The paint shapers I've been drooling over and look to be interesting tools for sculpting. Some DaVinci Red Sable because I've been rough on the Black Sable I have and been pleased with them and the red are cheaper and I like they're not as stiff. A Blick Red Sable to see how I like them as another alternate (besides the DaVincis) to the Windsor Newton Sieries 7s. Some sacrificial Blick Ox hair that run $.98-$1.75 for serviceable natural hair brushes good for primer/base coats. An Ulrecht Synthetic I took a $3 chance on, and 2 unknown umpteen aught brushes I found in the "depths" of my desk.
Ah, we shall not speak on the money spent.
I've been having a bad couple weeks, most of it was on sale, and it was cheaper than a new computer or drive.

1) Happy to hear that, the Knights were lazy style but I tried to push the pirate/swashbuckler/duelist/whatever to the next level. Glad the lousy photos aren't destroying them completely.
2) I have no problem with cheesecake either, I just leave that to others. Personally I'd rather put my artistic efforts into something I can display in public.
3) Hehe, the blue "imp" as you call him in that pose is still almost as tall as a human standing upright and nicely fills a 40mm.
4) The armor and weapon were an excuse to play with a "new" dark brown metalic I picked up about a month back.
E) Well more progress up there somewhere, hopefully next week will have better pics.

My goodness that shelf of models is getting full, that's a good amount of time and effort put into all of that. Very impressive. I see a yellow armoured scourge, love yellow minis, such a lovely colour, I'm excited to see where that goes. Hopefully this next week treats you a lot better, I can sympathize about having some crumby weeks as of late.

@ Inevitable_Faith: I was feeling like I'd stalled so I pulled my Neverborn out of their bag to see how I was actually doing. And the answer is a lot better than I thought! This week is definitely going better, random urge popped in and was seized upon and something delicious is almost done:

Shortly before the Horus Heresy Brother Influzia was sent as an honor guard with an imperial envoy on a mission involving the Dark Angels. Shortly after their arrival the Dark Angel battle barge they were aboard was attacked by orkish pirates. During the battle Brother Influzia took charge of a newly inducted squad and commanded a successful attack on the pirate's engines that was the key to victory. However his armor was severely damaged in the attack rendering it useless. As a token of respect the Dark Angels gave him an honorary promotion to sergeant of the squad he had led and rearmed him with a master crafted great sword and a new suit of armor using a mix of newly supplied Mk IV armor, experimental components, and what could be salvaged from his ruined Mk III suit.
