Did anything get done? Gloves, boots, straps, rope, some metal, pyrotechnics, and repairs. As I said, slow and subtle.
So what'll be done for next week? Lets see, Work, gaming, baking, work, lots of work, Capricon, Cap again, last day of Cap, rebooting.
Oh. Yup, leeetile bit busy next week.
Are you going to hit the monthly goal? Maybe? It'll be close.
...Is that your final answer? ... I mean it will be done oh great and terrible muse.
As for resolutions:
Weekly Goal: last week made good progress, this week is looking negligible.
Cut spending: only picked up 2 models so not bad.
Monday post: yupers, doing good here.
Not angering the Daemonic Muse: came close to angering her. Very very close.
Quick drop to prove I'm alive. Wings, jet pack, Zipp's Zapper, and wrenches done.
Weekly Goal (21st-27th): paint all the things. More realistically Iron Bogz, Zipp, and Sparks.
Cut spending: paint don't count so nyeah take that spending!
Monday post: Wednesday shift but yeah.
Not angering the Daemonic Muse: Hello? ... Helloooh! ... Bueler? ... I, I'm not sure what she's up to.
Oh good! She wasn't angry, just sneaking.
Eyup. So whadya got for me? Sky Pirates! BzzZZzzzZZZzzzzZZZZzzzzz...
Yay, doing the monthly painting comp is going well. Eh-heh, yeeeah, next month is marines.
Redcoat, Kriegsmarine, or OOH-RAH/NCIS Gibbs type? Mmm, no. Space.
... Custards/Pre-March lites? Uh, that's Custodes and Primarchs, but yes.
... Svarg. On the other hand (Nero fiddles while) Earl Burns! And How!
Not bad. And the Big'uns.
Svarg! That's the full month's goal ain't it? Not quite, Large Steam Arachnid still needs to be re-attached to hir base and Hans the Stampede hasn't seen much love.
Durn, an' so close too. ...
You ever heard of a band called Sabaton?
Maybe? What's that got to do with anything? They've got an album, Carolus Rex, named after King Charles the 12th of Sweden So? I'm weird and was listening to it today.
And? Meet the Caroleans, Carolus Rex, Meg Tanner (previously appearing), and their guards.
... Is that the Swedish flag on the droids? Yes it is!
Why? A very good question!
____CAROLUS REX: Refurbished by Meg Tanner the programming installed in this droid was highly corrupted creating delusions of grandeur. No attempt has been made to correct them despite it declaring itself ruler of a sovereign nation that doesn't exist and claiming Meg Tanner as its co-ruler.
____GUARDSMAN ERIK: Runing a copy of the Carolus Rex program modified for subservience to Meg Tanner and the Carolus Rex unit. Currently seeking spouse willing to accept its glorious service to the "Kingdom of Sweden." 54 attempts at wooing, 67 denials.
____GUARDSMAN HEIDI: Running a modification of the Guardsman Erik Program with the brashness toned down and romantic inclinations removed. Currently seeking new territory to claim for the "Kingdom of Sweden." FOR THE GLORY OF CAROLUS REX AND LADY TANNER!
... Well okay then.
Feb 28-Mar 6: Find a Spees Maureen or 5 and paint some Gupps.
You were too "tired" *cough* LAZY*cough* to go to gaming last week so nothing was bought.
This ... Is a Sunday post isn't it? Is that close enough?
Better than WEDNESDAY!
And best of all you DID NOT svarg me off! Very im-paw-tent that.
Till next week! SALMONELLA! Don't you mean SAYONARA!!! Eh, close enough.
Roit, lets see wot we got.
Gupps done, Speehs mahrine chappy for a friend and the competition procured, Reaver-Can and Reave-Bot procured, Daemoness and more DMR started, and BlackDragon G-1A starfighter progressed.
Svarg, better than I expected.
It's tuesday. Oh, yeah. Mynd-Clock was off yesterday.
Finish the BlackDragon, work on Chaplain, finish the Daemoness and work on DMR people.
Not doing too bad on the buy vs paint front.
Posted a touch late angering the Muse.
Overall grade: C
Inevitable_Faith wrote: Keeping ahead of your purchase vs painted quota is always a win! Got some interest projects on the go, looking forward to seeing that chappy for sure.
It's close but progress IS greater than buying if I ignore KickStarters paid for in 2016 that should arrive this year and The Other Side which is claiming it will be here before 2018 but I doubt it. Unfortunately the chaplain didn't see much progress as I had to ok plans for him and sculpt grips. But progress has been goooood.
From L to R, Finish a DMR Draconis native squad, work on the chaplain (parchment and steel), last week's purchase of a smuggler, Kroot, BlackDragon, Red-ney, Cool-hilda, and ME! Umm.
Er, the Daemoness that is. Yup, still need to get your ship and some good photos but the Daemoness exists! Now for the resolutions;
Yer a big ol' svarg headMeanie.but last weeks goal was acomplished and this week's is already posted.
Painted is clearly in excess of last week's purchase which helps cover my pretties you bought previously and haven't painted.
Finaly I'm not toooooo svarged off so you may live. I'LL TAKE IT! And thank you oh grea and tera-bib-el one.
It's official. I'm restarting Dark Eldar. I now have Gangs of Commorragh on order at the FLGS.
You svarg 'ead. I still need to get the Kabalites, Wyches, Scourges, and possibly a beastmaster.
... Are you insane? A ham coven is the next step. Plastic Hameonculous, 2 boxes of wracks, and talos/chronos hybrid.
Doot, doodle, dee, doooooo!
Draconis 42-3 Security team Bravo reporting for duty for assignment in scrublands.
Am I supposed to be impressed? Chaplain Noh'Nay'Muh reporting for inspection.
Hrm, looking done. No mam! Grips, wax highlights, joint rubberization, and GLOW-Y BITS left to paint.
Huh, continue. Sgt. Ash for inspection!
Why isn't he wearing his helmet?! Damaged faceplate, better proof has already been ordered mam.
Very good, I was afraid he needed to be executed for Svarg-headedness. Starting proof, and weak-willed foolishness also reporting.
Purchased; 1 (one) ARC-170 starfighter "Shiny"
Started; random secondhand Space Hulk terminator "Bloodfire", Draconis 42-3 Security team Gamma, ReaveBot, ReaverCan, ARC-170 "Shiny"
Potential Vic, err, candidates; "Darth Vader", "Royal Guard" Squad, Black Blood Shamans, The Nephlim Twins
Oooohkay, so what's the goal? Chaplain and Bloodfire done. More started.
I bought the ARC last week and ordered Gangs of Commorragh so absolutely no buying of pretties for 3-4 weeks.
Report back in 1 (one) week.
Sounds goo 'Scuse me mam, report from Analyst Eli coming in!
Heeh? Republic Intel Analyst Eli? ImpA character? Tracks the DMR?
Republic Intel Analyst Eli's report:
Local security forces on Draconis 42-3 have begun organized search of the desert areas with the aid of Agent Hiss and "Offworld Contractors", surveillance drone image attached.
This image shows the "Offworld Contractors", Agent Hiss and an experimental transport in action against a suspected DMR encampment. Upon inspection it appears that the DMR are the "Offworld Contractors" and Agent Hiss has successfully infiltrated the group. Unfortunately I have received no communications from Agent Hiss, and the locals have hired the very gang we seek. My contact from Draconis 42-3 did however identify their leader in the image but referred to her as "Lady D'Muse".
Annotated image with enlargements attached.
Woho! It's official! I'm happy with him, my friend is happy with him and EDC has confirmed we're not just total weirdos! Independent review is always good. Just a quick update today, Chaplain Noh'Nay'Muh has GLOW-Y, his base is sculpted, and Bloodfire has seen some progress.
Thanks for the comments! I'm really happy with how both Termies have turned out.
Pic is actually a week old. Just haven't had any drive recently.
Goal this week is to finish the Shiny & Crew and my Blackblood Shamans
Doing poorly on my no-buy but my Cabal/Cult is officially started with (minimal) progress.
Missed an update
Hopefully more sleep will bring the Muse back. I know less will but that's not sustainable.
Termies did come out great, some good looking SW stuff there too. And I see a Haemy putting himself together there on the table, I'm super stoked to see that all done up. I'm actually just putting the finishing touches on my Haemy tonight.
Please check out my project log on Dakka here
@ Inevitable Faith, the Haemonculous (in future: H.A.M.Y.) is looking like good fun, and I love his semi-expesed organs. However I want the start of his entourage and ride first. He'll be shanghaiing the Raider from the combo box to carry his (eventually) 10 Wracks and (hopefully) a custom Grotesque. I'm really happy with the termies and need to get better pictures of them despite my anti-Imperium of Man tendencies.
@ Evil Doctor Cheese, He, He, Yeeeaaaah. about that ARC's paintjob. The droids required a dip in paint stripper and I'm only accepting of them as is. The ARC-170 "Shiny" is in for it's second dip before my third try. As for upgrades: Pilot is a mentally unsound dimension hopping bodyguard, co-pilot/weapons officer is a prepubescent sociopath force sensitive, astromech and tail-gunner are bloodthirsty droids with "issues", and weapon systems are whatever the pilot can get a hold of. In other words, no idea my X-Wing collection is officially shelf ornaments.
I'm bored. where's my Shamans? YAY! You're back! Hooray for sleep!
Make with the demons or I... threatening you is a real challenge. Especially since you cant move.
DON'T MAKE ME MAKE YOU SORRY!
Droids aren't done, and the shamans don't have bases... FAILURE!!! On the other hand, commissioned Vostroyan snipers just need bases, this months painting competition is well underway, loose papers are in the shiny new filing cabinet rather than taking up valuable shelf space, the full computer is back up meaning I can use the good camera again, and tomorrow I HAVE THE DAY OFF.
... Murmpf. ... Goals. Now. Base the droids, shamans, and snipers. Give the "Shiny" a third try. work on my competition entry and either the corrupted hounds, twins, or tusken raiders.
I was bad, I bought the hounds, but this is an update. as for you...
Only if those shamans are ready to perform bloodletting on Nekima to heal her tomorrow. Wohoo!
@ Inevitable_Faith: She's a Malifaux Lilitu, a.k.a. the sister, she comes with her primary victim/brother the Lelu. Yes, Malifaux Nephlim are messed up.
@CommissarKhaine: Interesting or random? Either way always good to have more input.
So, crazy squee loaded day, new albums from an awesome band arrived (The Midnight Contingent by Cheshire Moon, Acoustic and full band) found some wonderful ideas, and another "Failure" for my goals.
SVARG SVARG-IT!!! Uh-oh.
Second svarg-ing week in a row you fail! What's your lame excuse this time? ... I'm now working on getting a CDL, or in Daemonic Muse concerns, More minis, less interference from wanting to hurt the stu-pad customers, and less time lost to unreliable schedule.
... Oh. And looking closer the only "Fail" was the "Shiny" didn't see much progress:
But the twins have had progress since the last update which proved bases, wookies, and pups were also under the brush. A-yup, but the pupers have seen more of the brush.
And apparently glue. And more good news, idea trawling:
1) Trawled through Mechanicum Jon's (sadly dead) Kabal of the Downed Gardens thread and found ideas for Grotesques and Khymarae
2) Found lambsandlions' Masque of the Shattered Prism which gave me ideas for painting Reaver jetbikes and lead me to Fallout Hobbies and their pretty stencils/masks and decals.
3) Meer_Cat's P&M Blog and his Sdkfz 251 conversion that I may steal to give the Draconis 42 troops a ride.
Svarg-it, now there's nothing to svarg about. Boo-hoo.
1) Every Monday I post: check.
B) Set weekly goals: Wookies and the twins, if possible the "Shiny".
3) Try to shrink the backlog (fewer buys & more progress): Didn't buy anything and pups are done.
D) Don't anger the Succubis: Only by doing a lot to negate possible complaints. Which had the effect of annoying me. I'm calling that no anger.
End result: 4/4 successes
Barely. G'night everyone!
evildrcheese wrote:Yey for success, just don't fall into the trap of buying something to celebrate
Well I didn't buy in celebration...
The (Truly) FLGS has numerous tables, lots of terrain, no fees, and reservations have priority but aren't strictly required. I feel really guilty if I don't spend $10ish a week. So I got DE Scourges this week but I'm going to resist next week.
Inevitable_Faith wrote:The malifaux models are pretty cool and the basing came out nice. Those doggos are looking really sweet. Keep up the good work.
I really like what the steampunk wild west mythos nature of Malifaux creates and the sculptors do a great job of capturing the look and feel of it while keeping the figures roughly practical.
The basing method took some experimenting but i finally have it to the point I can keep it consistent. For the pups I took a risk and went blue basecoat>black drybrush>brown drybrush to try and tie them in with the blue skin of my nephlim while staying within sight of real dogs. I think it worked and I'm glad to hear that it looks good.
@CommissarKhaine: Interesting or random? Either way always good to have more input.
One doesn't exclude the other . I'm a GW minis guy, so models from other companies are always interesting to me. Gratz on the success, keep it up!
I know, just poking fun at how often interesting is used as a euphemism and my own hobby ADD. Because I honestly have 13 active forces (ignoring sub-factions and mercs) spread across 5+ manufacturers and 4+ systems without counting the 2 armies I have on order for Wyrd's new game set in the Malifaux universe.
My (current) 13th force officially gained active status when I dug through my bits last night and came up with these:
Taken together with H.A.M.Y. they constitute a (personally) viable warband. The scourges don't count because they're waiting to trade weapons with the rest of my eventual DE.
Local time is late so I'll go more in-depth later.
Ok, promises were made, and I need to ignore a mini for an hour so let's do this.
First off an updated WIP of 3 of my Wracks:
The 2 Tau based ones have been "done" for a year or 2 but when I looked at them for H.A.M.Y.'s retinue I realized the DE heads they had didn't make sense so they were swapped for Ghoul heads.
Fluff wise they're a pair of Tau he's just started on.
The LizzOrk has been glued up and is now awaiting green stuff shoulders and robe.
As for fluff H.A.M.Y. makes a fair number of pit-fighting trash, big mean looking brutes most wyches can take apart without much trouble but they make good spectacle. Occasionally he builds one too well and it lasts long enough he reclaims it as his own, LizzOrk is one of them. Recognizing only H.A.M.Y. as "Master" LizzOrk killed and stole a handler's rifle after butchering a human champion of chaos.
Naga was the first victim of a brilliant idea, Reaper Bones are cheap and easily obtained in the US. The wide variety and material make them excellent test models and conversion fodder.
Naga is going to have her 6 natural arms removed and her face drilled out. A warjack head, ghoul, beastman, and tyranid arm will fill the empty spaces. The ex-tyranid devourer will be combined with a DE cannon bit to make a heavy weapon for the Wracks.
As for fluff Naga is just one of those disturbing things haemonculi make. I mean seriously, who gives a scaly snake monster mamaries? Questions and accusations have been whispered behind H.A.M.Y.'s back but no one is willing to risk having Naga set on them to bring it up.
Drago is the first Grotesque and is going to be stealing the Nob legs to give him a hulking gorilla look.
Fluff wise Drago is an early work that just. won't. die. H.A.M.Y. hasn't ever bothered treating Drago's wounds but he just keeps on fighting.
This guy is an experiment that I'm thinking of (partially) scraping. I like the head/torso/robe combo and I like the design of the arms but I don't think the arms really work with the body. I think the arms will work better as auxiliaries on a Grotesque and I'll find something else to give this one.
Another idea I'm not sure of. Even if I remove the existing arms on this one I don't know if it'll work.
If anyone has ideas or opinions please do share.
Yaaaaaaay! I fixed the sister's dress!
Had some silver wind up where I didn't want it. She had been given a layer of dull coat prior to gaming on Tuesday and the silver so I used a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol to remove it. This caused fogging that water temporarily fixed. I applied a layer of brush-on Gloss which seemed to fix it while wet. The Gloss is dry now and the fogging is gone.
As I said, yaaaaaaay!

What a crazy variety of conversion CM, good job. One of the perks of having such an eclectic collection like you do is you're not limited to GW parts for your conversions. Looking forward to seeing it all come together.
Please check out my project log on Dakka here
Subject: Re:ChaoticMind Channels the Demon Muse's P&M blog: episode 54, More Fail!
@ Inevitable_Faith: Wyrd's minis are nice but but my inner Ha-Mek-ulous has missed GW multi kit compatible infantry and inherent conversion emphasis.
That said it was a screwy week.
The twins? Eeep!
There's a distinctly unfinished look too them... Err, well you see, H.A.M.Y.'s works idea'ed themselves up. Then my tax return landed. And I'm still adjusting too school & work. And yesterday I got more DE.
... What did you do? The first gang is built.
... *headdesk* Svarg for brains. A-yarp. Resolutions:
1) Every Monday I post: not quite.
B) Set weekly goals: AGAIN! With the Wookies and the twins.
3) Try to shrink the backlog (fewer buys & more progress): Scourges, Hellions, Wyches, and Wracks. Nope, nuthin too see here, move along, yup yup.
D) Don't anger the Succubis: Eugh, no, not really. Just... Gah! End result: 0.5 / 4 successes sooo big ol' fail.
At least the Svarg-ing Wookies. Pleeeeease!
