Hey guys! I probably should've started this way sooner, but I thought it'd be neat to post some of the progress made this year on Golden Throne GT terrain. If you haven't heard of it before, the GTGT is being held in Pleasanton, California (Northern California SF Bay Area) this August 2-4. The goal this year is for 500 square feet of exciting, well-constructed and -painted terrain on individual boards (if you participated last year you'll understand why those boards are important!). Please excuse the poor photo quality, I tend to snap these whenever it occurs to me and always just default to using my phone. I'll try to go back now that I've started this thread and take some photos of finished pieces.

Things will probably seem at least a little haphazard for now, since these photos were all taken for Facebook updates, but I'll try to post regularly so that you can get a better idea about what I'm working on as we progress.

The first thing we did was break down about 100 square feet of blue/green foam into individual hills. Here's a shot of a batch that's been cut, textured, and is awaiting basecoating:

Here's another batch, this one about halfway through the basecoat phase. Some of these will end up being hills, some will be forests, and you can even see a couple with the frames for ruins:

Here's a stack that's been basecoated and drybrushed with a few different levels of color:

Here's one of the boards I threw together a while back; this is the level of detail we're replacing last year's 'green trash bags' with:

Here's a set of trenches that will be used both in the main event and on the surface of Cadia for our Assault on the Cadian Gate Narrative Event after being primed:

And a rather large Annihilation Crater from our new sponsors Amera Plastic Mouldings, which was cut out last night and is ready to be primed and painted:

Finally, here's a shot of some of the materials we're using to build new terrain now - I'm enthralled by these every time I look at them:

And last but not least, a couple of pieces from our sponsor Custom Kingdoms (these came pre-painted):

What a massive endeavor! These should be the best most consistant large GT tables around. That's it, you have convinced me to stop dreaming of the "perfect army" and bring what I've finished and what I can get to the minimum standard on time and show up for a good time by getting some games in.

Thanks for the kind words! I love working on terrain, and it's always gratifying when you know someone is going to have a good experience playing on it!

Here are three pieces that are about 90% finished, just lacking some final detailing:

I've also started building our Amera buildings, and they look awesome! I'll post more photos of those tonight.

I had to cut yesterday's terrain session short to attend a memorial service, but here's what I managed to cut out and build in a few hours:

Thanks a lot! I've finally finished building everything, so now it's lots and lots of painting for the next two weeks. I started today:

All of the white buildings you can see in various stages of construction are from Amera. They ended up being really easy to work with and fun to paint.
