Should an exarch firing a Quad Gun or Las Cannon emplacement for an ADL, or any emplacement really, have purchased the skill Fast Shot, does that skill apply to the firing of the turret weapon?

Does Fast Shot say "the model's weapon," or "the weapon the model fires"? If the former, then it wouldn't apply to the ADL gun. If the latter, then it would.

It depends entirely on how you define 'his weapon' - is 'his weapon' anything he fires or what he brought with him?
Unless it gets FAQ'd, I wont be using it on an adl - Because if it's ruled to not work, I don't want to have been 'that guy'.

Its because ordinance is still a word.
However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives. |

The turrets fire as if they were the model's weapon IIRC.

In a tournament setting is where this would be relevant if that makes a difference, and it would be a las cannon

Look at the wording for firing a Gun Emplacement in the BRB. Taken with this, I believe it allows the Exarch to get an extra Lascannon shot (or a 5th quad gun shot).

The Icarus Lascannon isn't "his" weapon. Any model in base to base can use it. And, it's covered in eagles, and those aren't swooping hawk wings.
-Matt Automatically Appended Next Post: If it did work, I'd expect to see a run on fortresses of redemption.
An extra shot from the Krak Storm and another shot from the twin-linked Icarus Lascannon is brutal.

Well it's odd because it can be taken both ways...
The gun emplacement rule states the gun may be fired by any model in btb contact with it instead of his own weapons, but then it also says it follows "all the normal rules for shooting," which I think would apply to fast shot...
It could go either way I think... I might have to ask the TO for a ruling prior to the tournament so I can know if I want to run a quad gun or a las cannon. I'd love to have the cannon for str9 skyfire against what I'm sure is going to be heldrakes, but I don't know if 4 str7 twin linked shots would be better...

But you just wrote that you can fire it instead of HIS own weapon. Therefore it is not his own weapon and is firing something else. I would say no as Matt pointed out there is possible abuse with the FoR

Since it's the weapon he's firing that turn, isn't it counted as "his" weapon though since it follows all the normal rules for shooting, including his own?

found a usefull bit page 96 in the big rule book
"manual fire
a model can use one of the emplaced weapons instead of his own. Use the fireing model's bs and the line of sight of the weapon. All relevant special rules from the fireing model and weapon are used"
seems clear to me
