Hi all, I am developing a project of realizing an inquisitor with his retinue. The idea came when I found this mini http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/khador/solos/koldun-lord and realized that it would have been a great wh40k inquisitor. As his look suggested me, he will be an ordo xenos inquisitor searching for archeotech and ancient or xenos tecnhologies. I provisionally named him Valkov Strata.
Firstly I removed his cap and sculpted a bald head. His left hand had a very silly position so I gave him a bolter pistol from chaos space marines (it seems that ordo xenos often steal weapons from enemies) and sculpted the fingers around it. Then I sculpted a couple of purity seals on his back to further evoke wh40k's setting and removed all khador's symbols.

His right hand will have a scratch-built inferno pistol instead of the axe. Below you can see tha I want to start from a Mordheim pistol.
I also removed a pouch at his belt, which seemed too fantasy, and I want to replace it with a holster. I'm trying to build one. You can also see that I'm doing some sorts of clasps on his boots to make them a little more futuristic. I need suggestions about exactly what to do .

My cold Khadoren heart is crying inside a bit at the thought of taking Bad Santa and making him an inquisitor.

But I think this has the potential to be really, really cool.

P.S. Had you thought about using the pIrusk model? Could be another great one for you.

Ahah I'm sorry for that . Ok, take it as a compliment for the miniature which is really gorgeous.
Plrusk is very nice indeed, he would make a great commissar in my opinion.

Hi guys, I'm posting an update of the inferno pistol. This is what I managed to do. The base of the pistol needed a reicofrcement for the gas tanks and the barrel needed a extension, so here it is.
On the background you can see what I will use as the base. Those of your from the UK have surely recognised it at once: it's a 2 pence coin and I think it will make a great carpet.
What do you think? Is that too crazy?
As always I am open for comments and suggestions .

Thank you very much! Later I'll post a pre-assembly photo of how it looks all together at the moment.
I will also need your precious suggestions because I have a doubt about the holster.

Looks great! The carpet idea is pure genius.
The resistors for the pistol are a great idea too.
I'd go with the second option for the holster.

Thank you .
In my opinion the first holster is more coherent with the mini because it has the same size of the bolter pistol and has the correct shape to be held on the left side. The second one is more finely sculpted (of course!) but should be placed on the other side (is for a right hand); moreover it implies a third pistol (a very tiny pistol for the wh40k universe) where he already has two (and nowhere to put them!).

However few make all these reasinings when watching a mini, so it is maybe more important the impact produced. The green-stuff holster is much bulkier but I'm not sure if this is good or bad...

Personally i like it more "realistic" or at least as close as the GW models allow it. So i'd go with a holster of a more fitting size.

Why not go for a third option and sculpt another one more in line with the second option but as large as the first. You obviously have the skill for it.
What your holster misses to let it look more "holstery" is - in my opinion - an opening where the pistol grip will go - should he holster the weapon. And it could also need a strap (Or whatever the thing is called to close the holster) similar to a "normal" holster.

Cool work. I really like the level of personalisation you have included in this model. The carpet is very cool.

I think the second option for the holster looks best. The first one is a little big and gives the idea that it contains something. A bigger holster is only needed to maybe fit with the gun. However due to the size of the gun I think the larger holster will disrupt the proportions of the model. It is normal for a holster to appear smaller than the gun.

All your comments are really precious and compliments very appreciated, thank you very much .

I'm afraid you overrate me but probably it's the best option. I'll try to go for something with an intermediate size and a proper "strap" (I don't know the proper name either but this gives the idea).

Meanwhile this is how it looks at the moment. The base will be a bit covered but not too much. On the tabard will be an =I= symbol that I cut from a plastic card.

Hi everybody.
Another update concerning the holster. Your comments were very useful and convinced me to produce this alternative which I think can be considered the final one. Next update when I'll be painting it .
What do you think?

It definitely looks better than your first attempt and will look really good once painted.
One thing that you could add to it is some kind of button to detail the strap. Add a tiny patch of GS on it and shape it into either a square or circle. Poke some holes in with a needle or use a mechanical pencil tip to ress in a bolt. Useing an empty mechanical pencil is a really cool tool to sculpt rivets into surfaces. Example here (The belt buckles): http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/520698-.html

This isn't necessary but could add e bit more to your model. Also it is a good excuse to experiment bit more with GS.

Uuuh very cool. I've just tried with a 0.05 mm mech pencil but it seems to narrow.

Thank you .
The clear plastic comes from... a ham bowl! Like these:

I find it very similar to thin plasticard sheets.

Hi all, I started to paint this mini.
At the moment I've only done the interior of the cape (which you can see in the pictures, almost finished). Now I want do add some details, a written. I've though of "Imperio gloria" (which would mean glory to the Imperium if we let high gothic borrow some grammar from latin). I've come up with 3 possible fonts plus a fourth which is a mixture of two of them.
In the photos below the cape is coloured with acrylics while the golden parts are added with photoshop just to test the final effect.
The first one is uncial, a real font used in early medieval era.
The second one come from this blog http://cbaggery.wordpress.com/page/5/
The third one comes from the rulebook of Dark Heresy, the official rpg of wh40k.
Finally the fourth collects my fabourites from the first two fonts.

What do you think?

Hi, an update concerning the painting of the cape and the base. I finally opted for a real medieval font (with the exception of the first I which of course is a reference to the inquisition).
For the base I tried to add the texture effect but I would not call that a complete success .
Comments and opinion are most welcome .

Here it is another update. This time it's the back with a couple of details: the purity seals (with my initials :p), the blue gem sobstituing the khador symbol and a simple decoration at the corner of the cape. Maybe next update could be the last one!

Thank you guys! You are too kind .
Here are the last two photos! Sorry for the quality of the photos which is really bad (strong illumination and unfocused) and totally kills the paining job so I'll post some better pictures in the showcase forum in the near future. This is just to show you the final result and to thank you for your support!
The latter image has a couple more of inquisition symbols but for the rest they are the same. I've also experimented a blue halo to represent burnt steel on the flame thrower (I used pics like this or reference http://www.jdmshit.com/parts/components/N1mufflers.jpg); it also kind of reminds blue gas which is good I think but since it is quite experimental I would like to hear your opinion about this.
Thank you everybody!

He looks awesome! Ive followed the posts a little and loved the 2p Idea, but I really like the colour choice looks like a sort of highly reagrded royalish inquisitor with his awesome robes The holster green stuff work is definately much better than the bog standard
