Its great to see all the replies, I appreciate you all taking the time to chime in.
Don't misunderstand, I get it. Dual HWC's or Suncannon are superior as they add a heavier ranged element that the shuricannons/starcannons/scatterlasers can't match on their own.
In fact I did say that in the original post.
All I was curious about was if anyone had any decent amount of luck with the glaive/shield combo instead of the heavier guns.
I know everyone's all turned on by the HWC and Suncannon, but the army is packed with ranged AP2, I'm sure there's room for a giant sword haha
Besides, how many times have you charged into combat and whiffed with all attacks and cause zero damage? Bet you'd have loved that one insignificant re-roll then, right? Haha
As said before, I'm not trying to change people's views necessarily, or sell anyone on the glaive/shield. I'm just trying to get a fair amount of information based on the experiences of you, my fellow gamers, so that when I finally get around to building my own Knight, I can say "yeah, this is gonna rock".
Anyways! Again, I appreciate the input. If there's more to say, please do.

No there is no room for the sword in competitive. It does nothing (its MC but as good as). So would spend points to swap them for a shield and gun with Terminator killing blasts? Maybe. ... would i spend points to swap them for a shield and a reroll to hit in cc? No, you are mad. WraithKnights with swords live on the shelf.

You've gotten the information, and it seems like you really want the Glaive/shield combo to be awesome. But it is not. It is not the best loadout, pure and simple. That's it.
If you want to model the WK with the shield and glaive, then give it a suncannon or the two HWCs, go for it. Using the Glaive as the Glaive in the game is subpar at best and a waste of points at worst. In fact, taking the Ghost glaive and shield actually makes the model worse by making it more expensive and removing the ranged offensive power.
It is a very cool weapon. It's one of the coolest weapon for a model I've seen. But it has no place on the table outside of purely a modeling standpoint.

I use the 2 HWC myself.
I played with the Sword and Glaive once for fun, and the loss of the ranged weapons was just not worth it, for a very marginal gain in CC ability.
the WK does fine in Melee, as long as you're not going against things like TH/SS termies, and the GG/SS wouldn't help in that situation either.
However, Dual HWC WK is pretty damn awesome, and I'm glad to take one every game.

I broke down and performed surgery on my WK. I magnetized the arms so I'm still able to swap them out. I still love the look of the model with the sword.
