Hello! I've been looking at ways to make some interesting CSM models, and I'm wondering if it's possible to kitbash a Warriors of Chaos box with a Chaos Space Marines box. I've always liked how badass the Warriors of Chaos armor, capes, and fur looked, and am considering getting them and trying to devise a way to work backpacks and boltguns onto the models. Does the way WHFB models fit together make something like that difficult/impossible to do?

I already have 2 squads of MoK CSM, and an ultramarine tac squad sitting in simplegreen with a similar fate, so I'd probably need to find something else to use them as. Maybe chosen, since I have no interest in Khorne Bezerkers. I've also considered trying to see what would happen if I kitbashed them with scouts, to simulate playing a group of Space Marines that have so recently turned renegade that they haven't been corrupted by chaos enough for any of the benefits/weird things from the codex, but have all the recent technology the loyalists have. If I were to do that, I'd just use the Space Marine codex. And even if I don't find a specific use, merely having the awesome models is enough of a potential appeal to me.

If anyone has any pictures of Warriors of Chaos bits on sprue, it would be much appreciated.

Ive Used woc bits with csm and it can look pretty cool. Woc arms cN be very chunky compared to csm arma and they have ball joints rather than flat joins on the end so you will need to cut them to fit them to csm torsos.

Woc heads work very well with csm bodies.

Woc shoulder pads are bigger thab csm pads and are more like terminator pads in aome cases.

I didnt use torsos and legs of woc so cant help there.

Thank you! I think it's safe to assume that the bodies have ball joint sockets then if the arms were like that, which shouldn't be too hard to work with. Do the woc pads just look wrong on the normal CSM, or do they just look like the larger pads that they have on the champion sprue?

Yes, the WOC torsos, from what I have seen, have ball and socket joints.

The WOC shoulder pads... vary... some look OK, others look way too big. I would mostly stick with using them for terminators myself.

Warriors of Chaos do indeed have ball/socket joints, however they are where the elbow meets forearm/hand, so you basically have very little potential for posing beyond twisting the hand around in another direction. From memory the bodies come in two pieces, back/cloak and legs/chest, with the aforementioned ball joints at the elbows to add forearm/hand bits, and a ball joint for the head.

They don't mesh very well with the Space Marine/Chaos Space Marine sets at all without converting, though this can and has been done before

Nothing is impossible, merely difficult or extremely difficult. In this case it's just a matter of how far you want to go that determines the difficulty

I'm willing to do a lot of chopping. That's what I've done so far with working on converting almost all of the Dark Vengeance set, so I'd probably be fine with doing that.

And Solis, while cool, that picture doesn't answer all of the specific questions I asked.

Though it does help illustrate some of what I said

As you can see, the Plasma Pistol arm requires greenstuff work as there is usually an elbow joint with ball socket there, which you can see with how the Chainsword arm fits. Aside from that you'll probably need to do something about changing the Chaos Warrior boots to look more like Power Armour, but it's simple enough with green stuff, if possibly time-consuming.

i make my unit champions form WoC's since they looks bigger but more regal usually takes about 10 mins since they get separate hand weapons but i guess getting them to hold a bolter would take more time.

Ogre Tribe of the Bloodied Maw 4000pts
Phalanx 0010011 2080pts
Third Sphere expansion 1400pts
54th Psian Jakals 800pts

I didn't even notice the boots, that's a really good point. I'd be fine with spending the time doing that, it looks like it might be possible to just trim the flaps off then replace it with greenstuff. And that doesn't seem too difficult working with the ball socket joints.

The normal WoC bodies are very, very monopose. So, while I think you could hack a lot of bits from the bodies, and use a lot of the other bits to great effect... making the bodies themselves into CSM will be quite a challenge!

I can't for the life of me recall the name of the - nope, got it! Google search 'Doghouse true scale'. I know he used to post on Warseer but am unsure if he posts/posted here. That's exactly how he went about the legs. I think the design based on the Warriors of Chaos miniatures he called "gothic pattern".
