Last night I had a bit of insomnia, so I got onto Netflix and watched a show called "Max Schmeling, Fist of the Reich". It was interesting and I found myself at the end of the show wishing I had known the guy since he had seemed pretty brave and honorable in an intolerable circumstance.
I was then surprised at the closing credits to see Uwe Boll's name. Has anyone else seen this show?

I have not (most of his other films, however, I have). I highly recommend watching his films with the commentary.

I recommend checking it out. If he went more in this direction of film and improved on it a bit along with putting actors like Ben Kingsly in them,
I actually think he could begin being considered a good director.

I have seen House of the Dead, BloodRayne, and Far Cry.
They were pretty bad films.

Dear god, YES! It's absolutely hilarious. Iirc, in Far Cry, in the commentary, he just leaves the room and gets himself a drink! He literally says "I'm going to get a drink!" and stands up, leaves while the movie continues. It's awesome.

Due to a loophole in German tax policy, various companies used his films as a tax deduction.
I have no idea who's financing him these days, Scientologists probably.

It'd be funny if they ended up with a "The Producers" type situation from something he made.

I meant that his films should be watched and then laughed at because they are terrible. I honestly do not believe there is any hope for Uwe Boll. There's another (maybe House of the Dead?) where he orders food t be delivered, and it is. And another where his mother phones him and he just goes with it.

He wasn't as over the top crazy with this movie as his others and I have to say I think this one is his best and does show some hope for him.

The best thing I read about Uwe Boll was when he challenged some critics who had been giving him scathing reviews to a boxing match. IIRC a few of them accepted, those that did obviously didn't know that he used to box in the German army..

This could be why this movie is one of his better efforts, since he has a love for the sport and a seeming respect for the man.

Not gonna lie...I actually liked In the Name of the King.
The directing, editing, and scripting are clearly bad (he has no talent for the job), but I still found it enjoyable...gratuitous LoTR ripping-off and all.

On a related note, the description from Wikipedia almost makes me want to watch the sequel, In the Name of the King 2.
"Granger (Dolph Lundgren) – a former Special Forces soldier living in modern day Vancouver - is sent on a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy. He is forcibly pulled into a time portal in his home after fighting off a small group of hooded assassins who try to kill him. He finds himself several hundred years in the past, in the forested war-torn Kingdom of Ehb."
So much wat.

I remember when they put up spots for Extras on eBay. Basically, you had to pay them about $1500 or something like that, make your own way to Vancouver, spend a day with about a hundred other people getting suited up, running around like a tard, and (the best part) actually ending up on screen or even in the shot was NOT guaranteed. But they did promise to provide a box lunch.
