So, last night my wife was playing sisters of battle against my dark angles and I chose to take sammiel in the Sableclaw landspeeder and attached him to a ravenwing attack squad with three bikes. I put sammiel first because of the av14 and had the bikes in rear so my quandry is if she could even do damage with her bolters.

If she shot like normal and wounded it would just ping harmlessly off the speeder since it is in the front. I just want to make sure this is correct, I couldnt find anything about it in the brb so here is my outlet.

Also, can she focus fire the other bikes but not sableclaw even if all in open territory with the speeder jink save being better than bikes cover save of -.

You cannot attach a vehicle to a squad. You're cheating.

No.

A vehicle cannot join a bike squad.

So what about with the attack squad where you can buy a speeder with it? In army builder it gives the options for attack bikes, reg bikes, and speeders so they would all have to be attached, right?

Nope, as per the 'Ravenwing Combat Squads' rule (I think it's called that, only played against them, don't have the Codex) they run as separate units. Even the Attack Bike, so a full '10 man' Ravenwing squad is actually 4 units. 2x3 bikes, 1 Attack Bike and a Speeder. (Also known as an easy First Blood and a fethload of KillPoints for a single FoC choice)

Vanished Completely

Page 47 of the Dark Angel codex will tell you how to overcome this situation. They have special combat squad rules, which can so easily be overlooked. Within this specialized version of combat squads is instructions telling you what to do with the land speeder but also with the assault bike itself. In order not to post the rules themselves, this site is not a replacement for the codex, all I can do is advise you to look at the rule in question and see what the differences are.

One of the thing to keep in mind with Samuel is he loses his default profile when he is put into his pimped out land-speeder. You instead use a completely different profile, found under his entry in the book, with it's own special rules, war-gear and even warlord trait. What I find most interesting about this additional profile is the change to his unit type in the fact he loses his (character) tag, which means he can no longer be your warlord. Even though the warlord trait has a specific clause for him in a land-speeder as a warlord!

Broken rule is broken....

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Ultralame, that makes the sableclaw seem pretty lame. Has anyone used it In a situation where it was super effective?

Thank you all for the clarification too ill look at my codex for that when I'm off work.

Sableclaw is superlame. The jetbike is so much better.

While your main question has been answered I just thought I would touch on this, Bikes get Jink as an inherent special rule, any model which has the type bike or jetbike has Jink and as such gets a 5+ cover save for moving just like a Land Speeder (which is increased to 4+ if they turbo boost)

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

As many before me have said, no, he as well as other speeders can not join a squad.

As for bike vs speeder, that topic has been debated in many threads on Dakka as well as other forums.

Overall both have their uses, neither one is much better than the other.

If you are not sure on your choice then have a browse through the forums to get some perspectives.
