You never really know how much into a hobby you are till you have them physically in front of you.....money wise....and the only good thing is I get it all back at Tax Season on return.....and I looked back on three years of taxes......

Whats bad...from the Dark Eldar I'm missing five Beastmaster...5 Kymeria, 2 Fiends, two Razorwing flock, two Venoms, two Razorwings, ten Scourges, 10 Hellion, six Grotesqe Two Twelve man Kabalite Squad and one Wych squad...three Cronos

Tau the Riptide, two Fire cadre....missing two 12 man squad...their somewhere in the house...

Clan Space marines....five Devastator working on, five tactical marines working on, Venerable Dreadnought working, 12 bikers from Forge World OTW, retouch the pewter 5 Vangaurd and 5 Sterngaurd Marines

Dakka Warband....5 termies I need names for....5 more tactical mairnes I need name for...Helldrake conversion to complete...five more "new" raptors to work on...

I look back on my Battletech Mechs.....124 IS mechs plus reinforce mechanized battalion...60+ assorted tanks and troops carriers plus attack choppers....over 100 clan Omni and 2nd line mechs for a Galaxy...

Then my collection of MTG cards....started collecting at "Unlimited" to a complete set and stopped at what ever expansion the "Ritual of the Machine" came out.

OMG......That's a nice down payment on a very decent size house with all the funds I pumped into my hobbies.......collecting DVD's is not...well can be close to a hobby...we are not going there......

I'm with you on that one. I don't like Jack Daniels, and I don't like Coca-Cola. But if you mix them together, suddenly it's awesome.

Inexplicable, but true.

You deduct what you spend on minis from your taxes? Who is your accountant, and can I steal him/her? I guess if you played professionally, they could be a business expense. Or am I reading that wrong, and you dump the cash from your returns into your hobbies?

I sold the bulk of my magic cards back in '99, and while it didn't make the entire down payment on my house, it did make a dent in it. Sold the rest a few months ago, and it's whats letting buy new GW stuff.

I'd be afraid to tally up what I have. Collecting for years, a chunk of that when I was still living like a starving college student, but with a grown-up job and paycheck. But you need to do something to keep sane, and all hobbies cost money. At least we get something to show for ours, rather then just a hangover or a ticket stub.

Speaking of hangovers, as the topic of drinks has been brought up, I take a gin martini or a dark & stormy if given a choice.

My hobby spending is basically on a freeze. I've got so much sitting around that isn't even painted or in some cases even assembled, I can't justify more purchases right now. Not when I have probably like $200 of stuff just *sitting* doing nothing.

I really must hurry up, I kind of want to be able to have eReznik when comes out.

I did manage to feel a bit better when I sold all Space Wolves stuff that I knew I'd never play with again though. Of course I put it right back into more Menites... but still.

Bah, it's a sour mash. Yes, it's a whiskey, but that's totally fine to mix with soda.

And if you're drinkin' well, you know that you're my friend and I say "I think I'll have myself a beer"

I've been known to drop $100 in a night at a bar before. Spending $1000 on beer in a year is, uh, nothing.

Consider a 6 pack of Amber Bock at approximately $8.00. While not an amazing beer, it is still a high end beer you would expect to see in just about any gas station anywhere in the midwest at least, and quite drinkable. $1000 gets you 125 of them, for 750 beers total. Divide that by 12 and you've got 62.5 beers a month. Divide that by 30, and you've got about 2 beers a day. That's not even getting drunk. That's something tasteful that accompanies a dinner.

Even more dangerous is working for GW... and getting the staff discount.
It's oh-so-glorious, yet absolutely terrible.

I no longer have a bedroom - rather it's a small GW store with a bed in it!
