Points cost seems somewhat equal. But do I bother with marks or icons either way? All I'm looking for is a quick bomb for AV and if they still survive afterwards then possibly charging in.

Keep them strictly to the purpose at hand. No marks or combat upgrades, just melta and more melta. Personally I go with raptors as they get meltas you can fire past one turn. While the terminators may survive longer once they've used up their one shot guns they're not doing much else the rest of the game.

The raptors can pop off 2 meltas and a combi, then jump 12 next turn, melta again, then assault with melta bombs. There's just more risk of them being annihilated after their initial strike.

Raptors are Fast Attack so they sometimes score or give up extra VP's depending on the mission, while the terminators never do since they are elites.

The choice is yours really!

I'd take a Termies. More durable and come with axes or mauls for extra AT options after turn one.

Vote goes to Raptors, as explained by Badablack. As long as you understand you'll occasionally be losing them to fire from the very armour they're trying to destroy, if they can re-position armour to get LoS, they do just peachy.

My vote is for terminators. I'd take at least 1 chain fist just in case they survived past that turn, for potentially more vehicle busting.

Both units have the same basic cost.

Both units have almost the same footprint and run equal risk to mishap when deepstriking.

The terminators pay half the price for their combi melter.

While the raptors are five guys, they are a lot less survivable. While both units are expected to die after arival, the Terminators will draw more more and heavier firepower away from the rest of your forces.

The raptors have two guys with one attack and only handweapons. Each terminator has two attacks and a power weapon.

A minor point, but you'll want your melta raptors to die last and place the unit accordingly. So sometimes those raptors loose the champ and have to roll on LD 8, while all termis have LD 9.

The raptors compete for a fast attack slot with spawn, bikes and drakes. Terminators don't have any real competition in the elite slot.

Raptors give up VP in the scouring, which is horribe for a suicide squad. Termis only give up VP in killpoint missions.

In favor of raptors, they come with jumppacks and grenades.

So, unless you really want to gamble on the raptors getting a second turn of shooting or expect to occassionally start the unit on the board, go with termis.

A third option would be nurgle bikers for about the same price as the other options. You loose out on the deepstrike. This means you run the risk of loosing models before they do their job and they are slightly harder to bring into position. On the other hand you can have the in position on second turn without the risk of mishaps or bad reserve rolls only bringing them in way to late. T 6 with jink also means they eat quite a bit of fire that isn't aimed at the rest of your force.

Whatever you choose, every option you take that isn't a melta or combi-melter, is an investment you make into the chance of their survival. In other words, every point you invest behind bare bones means you aren't running a suicide squad anymore.

I already take 7x Nurgle Bikers with 2x Melta, so this would just be another anti-vehicle option

I am probably going to go with the Termies, just because of their survivability and they will draw a lot of firepower

Raptors compete with spawn, bikes, and heldrakes. No room for me.

Termies compete with just about nothing, so take termies

once you get to 7X it starts to become an option to take slanesh bikers with an IoE. FNP is great and hitting at init5 isnt bad.

even without the fist. raptors get 1 attach each with their krak grenades. Termiators get 3 attacks on the charge with powermauls.
5 attacks or 9 attacks at strength 6

I'd say take the Terminators. You can get them a dedicated transport landraider without taking up your heavy slots. Something else can ride in the raider while they deep strike. Your obliterators would love to have a ride I think, if you need them to get closer without dying.

Or you can put the termies in the landraider. You have options!

My points allotment is only 1750, so fitting a LR in is tough. But I will be choosing the 3x Terminators naked with Combi Meltas

Cultists in the landraider every time.

So running the 3x Combi-Melta Termies. I was thinking of either Power Maul or Power Axe. Power Axe puts them at I1 but denies almost all Armor saves. Power Maul still allows for some armor saves but has concussion. That may be good for when they pop a tank, if they survive the shooting, to charge whatever was in the vehicle.
