So a friend of mine asked me how long it took the character Wolverine to grow to adulthood. I have no idea, nor could I find anyone else who knows.I know there may be other sites better suited to this question, but this is where I visit, and I am quite sure that someone here has the answer. What say you Dakka?

Mutant abilities didn't really manifest themselves until puberty, if I recall correctly. The Wolvering Origin story had him aging normally until adolescence. A family tragedy occured that caused his powers to come forth, with the extreme emotional distress.

I'm no expert, but afaik Wolverine went from a boy to a man in the normal amount of time - it's just when he got to the point that his body would naturally start to break down due to ageing that he stopped (I'm assuming because of his healing factor) so he's perpetually in his "prime".

: Because I'm sure as hell not going all the way over there to kill you.

The odd things is that in the 80s, Wolverine was shown to age fairly normally in the DotFP storyline. Of course, that was before his "origins" story hit. That story was also before he became effectively immortal-sentinel fried his hairy ass!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I didn't see anything in that article related to what I said... care to clarify?

I never read the article, I just assumed it was in there. Sorry. Anyway, once the mutant powers kicked in, his aging process slowed down drastically (I don't think he stopped aging, unless that was later retconned). Anyway, he aged normally through adolescence, and proceeded to age at a crawl. So the character is not perpetually in his prime; in fact he is considered about middle-aged, despite being something like 180 years old.

I'm just wondering how long it took for him to go from an unwashed 5'3" ugly midget to someone as tall and dreamy as Hugh Jackman.

Fafnir, you forgot "hairy" and "chick-magnet". Wolvie has gotten more tail than anybody else in the Marvel universe. Jean, Carol Danvers, Psylocke, Domino, every underage X-Brat he's trained (Jubilee, Kitty, Armor), and plenty more. Figured I'd just name the big ones. Technically tho, every woman is too young for him. Thankfully he has Sabertooth around to let him know these ladies are ALL jailbait for him.

That whole "healing factor healed his memories" stuff is no better than the Batman nipple-suit. It's just too stupid to believe someone went to the trouble of thinking it up.

There were references to him serving in WW2 substantially prior to the Origins film, as early as 1986 in Alpha Flight.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

What I want to know is how Wolverines hair works.

Now this isn’t really a spoiler, but in the new flick Wolverine’s hair is burnt away early on in the film and immediate regrows to its previous length as the rest of his body heals. Later on he gets a haircut and it remains the same length. So does Wolverines hair 'heal' or not? I always assumed he hair wouldn’t be affected, otherwise he would never be able to shave and those famous mutton chops wouldn’t be possible.

I’m only being half serious here, it’s more of an amusing observation as opposed to an actual nitpick.

It's based on what Wolverine subconsciously thinks of as "damage". For example: if he broke a nail, it'd grow back immediately, but if he trims his nails it won't.

He turned down She-Hulk because he didn't want, and I quote, "Juggernaught's sloppy seconds."

Stay classy, Marvel.

Pretty sure he didn't get it on with Jubilee or Kitty. They were more like his sidekicks.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
On topic though: Yes, it took Wolverine the normal amount of time to grow into an adult like others have said.

For what it's worth, mainstream comics don't have an exactly sterling record when it comes to dealing with matters of sexuality of any kind.

Also, to be fair, in the mid-2000's Shulkie's entire comic was just jokes about her less than successful lawfirm and who she had and hadn't slept with.
