Hello, the more I research this game the more I want to play multiple factions. I think that's really weird coming from 40k, where I was only really attracted to 1 or 2. At the moment I'm looking at (in no particular order): Mercenaries (for dwarfs), Cyriss, Cryx (for Mortenebra), Menoth, and Skorne (Zaal and Morghoul, the poor guy needs some love)... and I have the feeling that I will at some point end up owning at least a few models from all of them since warmachine actually makes that a viable option. I'm curious about how many factions the typical hordemachine player actually owns. You can define "owns" any way you want (I'd say any factions you could put a caster and 15 points down on the table for qualifies) and you're welcome to add clarifying information like how many points you own of the various factions, what your favorite is, or anything else you feel like adding.

I have two main factions, Cygnar and Legion, for which I own a vast majority of the entire model line.
I have several playable 35 points lists with Cryx (pDeny, pSkarre, eSkarre and Witch Coven). I plan to expand those lists to 50 pts next year.
I'm in the process of building 2 playable CoC 50 pts list (Aurora and Father Lucant).

Although technically I own more points of Merc since someone gave them to me, my main faction I play for the most part is Menoth and building them up right now. I also have Skorne as well, but I am going to not focus on them as of now, maybe just get up to 15 pts, stay there a bit and then work on them after I finish building up my Menoth and/or most likely Mercs for Highborn and Fourstar.
So for the TL : DR answer, I have three. Although if you are starting, stick with one.

I have every model for menoth and everblight, am working on cyriss, and have been tempted to start cygnar and cryx...
Honestly if I knew someone that loved painting I'd own a lot more.

I've got the models ready to go for Skorne once I'm finished with Menoth. They're all sitting nice and neat on a shelf.
Ahh the joys of purchasing faster than you can paint/assemble.

Trolls and Everblight I considered starting a new faction but I decided to stay loyal. When I do branch out again i'll probably go mercs or minions so either way my trolls and legion are still growing.

I have only really ever owned Circle. I have at times had Mercenaries and Cygnar, but never stuck with them and always sold them off at some point down the road.
And stuff.

I have Trollbloods, Circle, Cygnar, Cryx and Mercs.
I would consider Mercs or Trollbloods to be my "main" faction as they're the ones I have the most models for and spend the most time with.

I've got: Minions Mercs Cryx Cygnar Khador Protectorate Legion Circle. My mains by play would be my Gators and Mercs, by model/points would be Mercs and Cryx(both can do 150+, my Cryx fills a standard BF Warmachine case, my Mercs fill a larger BF Warmachine AND a standard with the Galleon and Wraith Engine both tagging along in their own boxes). Everything is able to do at least 35, most I can do 75 for(Circle and Khador being the exceptions barring massive inclusions of Mercs/Minions).

I have at least 25 points of all the factions but Cryss and Trollbloods. I host small games at my house so it's nice for people to have a wide range to pick from. That being said My Ret army is by far the largest followed closely by my wife's circle.

I've got a 25 points merc army of Pmagnus all built and painted. As well as a newer 35 point EKaya list which is only built and primed for now. And when I'm done with circle (to 50 point so may take a while) i'll take a look at Cyriss.

I have nearly the whole Menoth collection and a considerable amount of mercs.
I've just started a Cygnar army, this one will mainly be list orientated instead of a collection but I'll see how it goes.
I next plan on Circle but that likely wont be until next year. It'd be nice if my FLGS had a proper stock of stuff and opened at more reasonable times than midday-5pm 6 days a week.

Cygnar (133) | 82% painted - Menoth (65) | 92% painted
Mercenaries (52) | 53% painted - Circle Orboros (42) | 92% painted - Minions (20) | 0% painted
Systems I play : Warmachine, Hordes, Star Wars X-Wing, Star Trek Attack Wing, Malifaux & Bolt Action.

I used to play two factions in 1st edition, one for each (sub)game: Cryx and Orboros. They're still my 'main' factions, but now I have some small forces for other factions, just to play stuff I like very much. First 'extra' faction I got was Menoth just because I loved very much the BE. After that I got a small force of Retribution, because I never faced them as no-one was playing them in my meta and I was curious to check "how they are", and now I got a battlegroup box for CoC just to try them out. I'll bring them up to 35 pts eventually. I also plan to get 35pts of Legion just to be able to field the Extreme Carnivean model.
I've changed to this mindset after approaching Malifaux, as in their forum people seem more oriented in playing/collecting Masters (i.e. warcasters) than Factions. So I thought that a similar approach could be used in Warmahordes, too. After all, acquiring a new warcaster/lock force you to change a good part of the models you bring with him, so why restrict yourself to a single faction?
Just to be clear, I don't own everything in my main factions. I own a good selection of units and beasts/jacks, but just a handful of the casters (5 for Circle, 4 for Cryx). This is just to say that at the end my money output is not too much higher than if collecting just two factions, but acquiring everything in them...

I'm glad I'm not the only one with "magpie syndrome". I started collecting Warmahordes in January of this year and have bought:
- Warmachine two player battlebox
- Hordes two player battlebox
- Cygnar force of roughly 25 points
- Trollbloods starter set
- Skorne starter set
- Magnus the traitor starter set (which I managed to source )
I actually want the starter set for each of the factions and then build them all up to 15, then 25, etc. I'm a collector at heart.
No-one in my local gamer group plays so I thought if I bought a choice of stuff people might be willing to give it a go. Sadly this hasn't happened.

I have two main armies. Cryx and Cygnar. I have two armies with decent 35 point lists, Menoth and Circle. And then I have the Legion battlebox plus a little more.
I plan on getting some convergence at some point. I had a khador army I was starting, but my brother started that as his second force so I traded my khador to him.
Frankly, everyone that I know who plays the game with any sort of regularity has at least 2 factions, if not more. With the cost of a respectable 35 point list in the $150-200 range for most factions it is easy to do. Especially if you consider battleboxes and ordering online where you can often get about 20% off pretty easily.

Started out playing circle, was interested in trolls, hated menoth and skorne.
Through various trades trying to get more circle, I've amassed like 300 pts of menoth, maybe 40 ish of legion, 20 of khador, 40 of rhulic...think that's it.
The menoth grab was amazing. 1000$ worth of them for 100 bucks. And people still say you can't get into the game for cheap.

I have almost 50 points of Khador, and just started a retribution army, which is currently being painted. I also plan to expand on that over the next few months/year.

Most people in my meta have two, not counting supplemental Merc units.
Myself I have about 75 points of Cygnar and Mercs and am currently working my way into a Khador army by trading of my extra Cygnar models. Technichally right now I can't field a legal Khadorian army as I don't have any jacks for it yet, but as soon as I get one I can probably field about 15-25 points.
