Not where I should be

Actually really like the LAPC, Looks natural.

Love the kitbash, got a nice aggressive feel to it. Only thing, (that we can see is no problem for you) would be the tracks will have to be custom made. LR or Leman Russ would just not cut it.

Great work. Now quit stalling and get that Mach painted.....

Hey guys...... I hear ya i hear ya!!! It WILL be painted soon i promice!!

Camkierhi yeh i was thinking the same about the tracks for the FAV (fast assault vehicle) .... i have tried out a couple of really messy mockups in 3d to gauge what style i like........ Whats your thoughts? Any other ideas? Was wanting to keep it with in the Mach & Big C style of DKOK....... but think it is going to end up being something different.... definetly a Space Marine machine.....

Love to hear the thoughts and any ideas guys

Hey guys! Thanks for looking in!

rustbucket I use Sketchup for all my 3d work and layouts etc....... FREE and simple to use...... I have added a pic of the rough dimensions of the "Big C" in Model space. I am working to a scale of 1/50..... so just divide those numbers by 50 and thats about the size of the hull i am building.... hope that helps!

Da krimson barun haha! i have seen where this comes from now! although i didnt know that the boogey man checks under his bed everynight for CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT!! haha!

I like your thinking mate! As usual i have had my head in the books and am thinking of a "Heresy" era Shock transport for a squad of Destroyer Marines....... (very specific i know) but i am thinking of a machine that is hard hitting and basic.... can take punnishment to allow deployment of the destroyers to wreak havoc on anyone unfortunately enough to be targeted...... Way ahead of now... but i a REALLY love the Heresy Era World Eaters colour scheme and insignias..... so i think thats the way we wil go..... heavily weathered and beaten...... haha... ..... ok... fantasy dream over.....

Cheers again....... "Big C" Updates tomorrow..... as am still at work tonight!

i have to ask one question mate...

when you start a project in 3d sketchup.... how does this positivly affect your work then in RL? what benefits do you have to invest all that time in comp graphics beforehand and how do you translate it then into plastic?...by the way... do you plan in 3D the materials thicknesses you use ?

Thanks for those hull dimensions! I've used Sketch a few times at an old job but not to this extent! Wish my 3D skills were as good as yours!

Hey Viktor......

No worries at all mate! To be honest i start with the 3d models just to get the idea in my head! Too be honest... i really enjoy 3d modeling aswell.. and will usually photoshop and get some images from the model in the end.. just something i enjoy doing! I agree that it might invest more time than needs be in the model but to be honest i am just really starting out and the time and effort factor doesnt really come into it... (because i enjoy the 4d and the physical build) ..... Another reason is that once the model is done in 3d.. i then break it apart and line up the faces and elements almost like 2d flat template..... print them out and hey presto you have some usable dimensions and templates to use on the build.

Ofcourse this is just for the major sections with the details and all the little extras being added after but i find it is a good start. I hope this answers some of your questions.. it just works for me i guess!

Cheers Viktor

No Worries at all mate ! Yeh i use it pretty much daily for work so have had plenty of time to practice! ... to be honest i am not too sure on how close those dimensions are to the ForgeWorld Scale..... but hey.... i think it looks about right for me..... (I have seen some images on ForgeWorld where an infantryman's head only just makes it about a 3rd of the height of the hull... given an "average" person is around 1.8m high... that would be about 5.4 - 5.5M high. Mine as you will see is around 4 and a bit..... so not to far off...)

Evening Gents, Gals and Orcs.....

Bit of an update on the Big C! I have added the front armour and upper hull viewports! Added detail around the front gun ports and a couple of little sections to "close in" the drivers turret! Added a little storage shelf to the back of the drivers section also......

Love to hear some comments..... IMHO.... i really like how it is going...

Cheers All!

Excellent work! As for the hinge. I'd use plastic tubing for the female part, and metal rod (such as paperclip) for the male part of the hinge. If you go all plastic, a stray bit of glue or a coat of paint can shear the thing off when opening and closing it.

Ahoy All!!

Managed an hour tonight to look at the troop compartment of the Big C!

Not stuck together yet but just looking at placement and proportion! IMHO i think its getting there!

Any comments would be great! Lots of detail to add to it to really bring it to life but i think its a good angle to start....

Cheers all!

Thanks guys! Really appreciate the feedback! Going to have a look at the internal hull section this weekend..... going to keep it pretty true to the original FW model and keep it pretty clean and simple but still bring out some if the structure etc...

Thanks again guys,

Hey bud, thanks mate! Appreciate it!

Started on the internals of the troop holding area tonight..... got the main geometry down and then staerted to add some structure...... nothing is glued down yet and am going to add a bit of thickness to the roof and also the walls... but the main part is there.....

The humble juice straw has, as it turns out, the ability to turn into piping and ducting.... haha... going to use a couple more along the walls and in the roof etc as i get there......

Cheers guys! ....

Oh..... also the first pic is my "work station" right now........ am hoping Santa might be good to me and give me some space for Xmas!
