Hi guys, I need help with my first list. I chose models based on looks at first, with a little research in to them, and reading in to the rule book. I have read on forums that Ghulams are a good bulk for an army. I like the idea of the first one, but what do you guys think of both? Thanks!

At 150 points, you're generally playing 'inrto' games, so don't worry too much. If you like the first list, go for it. It's order light, but most armies will be at 150pts. With a viral sniper, viral rifle, MSV2 sniper and an impersonator, don't count on making too many friends though

Oh fair enough, they are just really cool models, as I am getting in to this hobby with a mate I might do the second list so I don't annoyingly wreck the fun! Thanks -Loki-.

No, I didn't mean that's bad - bringing the hurt it what you should be doing. Your opponents won't pull punches, and short of all line infantry, you're going to be bringing a lot of hurt.

Remember, this isn't 40k. There's really no distinction between making a fluff list and a competitive list. As long as it's legal and you know how it works, you can win. You won't ruin your opponents fun, it's more when you tell him what your special models do, he'll probably be none too happy. You won't be when he tells you what his do.

Also, that first list is basically what Haqqislam does. Elite light infantry, viral weapons, impersonations. That being said, your second list is much the same with a few more cheerleaders but without the MSV2 sniper, which might help you a little in the long run - you'll have more orders for your killy troops, plus it has a doctor, which is Haqqislams thing. You're 6 points short in your second list. Add 2 Nasmat drones, which are little helpers for your doctor (the little robots in the support pack). You'll fit both in, they're 3 points each. They let the doctor do doctoring through them from the safety of cover.

Okay thanks for that advice, I like the idea of that second list with the nasmat drones. I think I will have to work that MSV2 sniper in somewhere eventually, as he is such a cool model.

Another quick one, do remotes add extra orders?
Edit: Disregard this, I see on the army builder that they don't. Here is my list I am going to use

While light on SWC, that looks like a nice beginner list. There's a mix of stuff - line infantry, viral rifle, sniper rifle (which also happens to be viral), a doctor, g: servants, an impersonator. You'll have fun with that.

I tried preparing a lsit that I think will provide more versatility based around the models you already included:

Haqqislam | 7 models
________________________________________________________

Naffatun HFT (12|0)
Ghulam Rifle (13|0)
Ghulam Lieutenant (13|0)
Ghulam Doctor (17|0)
Nasmat (3|0)
Lasiq Sniper (29|1.5)
Kaplan Spitfire (29|1)
Fiday BS (34|0)

Whichever Fiday's fine, I just chose the most beginner friendly one - the mines one requires some experience with the game but, most importantly, carries only an AP weapon as opposed to the EXP weapon of my pick.

Naffatun are regarded as a very efficient troop for their cost - try them out.

Switched the Lasiq for a Kaplan - more dice in damage and better range, also has mimetism - Kaplan are also a very decent choice.

You have 3 possible LT choices as you do not disclose the SWC costs on units - and if you're playing vs newbies and they ask who your LT can be you canpoint to the 2 Ghilim but also the Naffatun (which you can't take because they cost 2 SWC for the LT option). Deception is part of the game here and fooling the enemy should never be frowned upon

That said, I always explain to my enemies who the possible LT choices is among my visible models is - it is something they could find out themselves by browsing the books so in my opinion I just save us the time. Tough luck if the LT is a camo marker

Every model generates an order. Except G:Servant and G:synchronized models (Nasmats, Yudbots, Palbots, and so on).

Forever a pone.

Just a note to the OP - explaining your Lt is not recommended. You're actually not meant to. Show your list, they see who your Lt is. If you happen to have 3 Ghulam models with Rifles, like your second list, and 2 of those are Ghulam with Rifles and 1 is the Ghulam Lt, it's up to your opponent to a. remember you had a Ghulam Lt, and b. up to your opponent to then guess which Ghulam is the Lt.

This is one of the strengths of Haqqislam. Their higher than average WIP makes Ghulam Lt's actually a good choice. They're going to be cheerleaders sitting in your backline anyway, which is where your Lt will usually be to keep his ass safe. Taking 2 additional Ghulam with Rifles is a very, very effective way of playing Lt shell games. You also don't have to make it one specific model - this is where plain and simple honesty comes into play. You can change around every game which Ghulam is your Lt so they don't get used to hunting one model, just be honest when he does catch the one you were using as Lt.

Okay thanks for all of the advice, I appreciate it. I think I will still go with that last list I put up for now. I like the idea of it, Ghulams at the back, viral sniper picking people off, nasmat doctor robots lol. I am happy with that for 150 points.

For the first games, I would advise against using the fiday. His abilites are quite formidable, even more so against people not yet familiar with the game.
Wait until you and your opponent are a little more familiar with how to deploy before using him.

I am going for an intro game soon, so if this is the case, I am happy to dumb down his rules for now when I play my mate who is also starting. Thanks for the heads up.

I suggest demoing either with 3 Light infantry and 1 Heavy infantry if the demoee is totally new to miniatures. Just move, shoot, dodge, aro, and order usage.

If the demoee knows at least something, go with the Quick Start rules. They are dumbed down, but still have some special rules etc. such as MSV2, Camo, Infiltrate and Combat Jump.

If the demoee knows the rules so-so, play a small 150 points game with a vanilla starter or equivalent to get to know the rules.

Okay appreciate that, I think a mate of mine and myself are going to play a game of infinity using 40k models just to get used to it (we will be ordering our models next Thursday)

Took your advice, just played with a mate, with three light infantry and one other unit of choosing. It was alot of fun. This game is almost too much fun. If I didn't have work tomorrow I would have just jumped in to a 150pt game straight after. We just proxied the models with 40k ones, used mix and match "terrain" from around the house, including Lego and plastic scenery from my son's dinosaur set. Will be ordering our models up to 150 pts this Thursday!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Love Haqqislam, they are my first and probably still favourite faction.

Got an absolute pasting when playing with them tonight, although it was the general's fault, nothing to do with the skill of the warriors
