For starters, MODs, if this belongs in the comics thread instead, please feel free to copy and paste it over there.

I just watched this movie two nights ago (came in the mail as a birthday present, which is why it's so late). The movie was phenomenal. Dark, gritty, bloody, it should have been rated R. Don't let your kids watch it under the age of 15 unless you want them to witness child murder, strangulation, severed limbs and spattered brain matter. You knew people would die: no spoilers of who gets what, don't ask. If put it right up there with Red Hood as the best animated superhero films. Marvel has nothing on these two, and I'm a marvel fan. Buy it, rent it, whatever. You won't be disappointed. If you enjoy comic book alternate realities, it's top dog of its kind. Only complaint is Aquaman's face to chest ratio. Seriously, that's the only thing I found wrong with it. All but one review online has been extremely positive (I read 10+ reviews already). Do yourself a favor and enjoy 80 minutes of comic book brutality with a heart wrenching story. There is no humor here though; no comic relief. Hatred, revenge and sorrow are the emotions of this film. I have to reiterate, it is not kid friendly.

It has a very "Anime-esq" quality to it that has put a lot of people off. I loved it, it pulled no punches and shows that DC should stick with their animated movies. Marvel is kicking their arse in the live-action stuff, but DC is brill at animated.

BTW, Aquaman looks like Brock Lesnar in this to me.

Its no more Anime-esque than some of the other DCA productions so I'm not sure why Flashpoint Paradox would be singled out (if that's what's happening).

I've seen and enjoyed. It's not my favorite of the offers (but lets be honest, Red Hood set a rather big check on the table).

Red Hood was perfect, I'll agree. Rottentomatoes even gave it 100% from the critics. That's hard to follow. I think Flashpoint did a damn good job stealing the #2 slot. The Wonder Woman animated movie is also amazing, but I think that comes down to Nathan Fillion playing Nathan Fillion. I mean Steve Trevor. Lol. If you haven't seen that one yet, it is definitely good. Very funny, and also lots of murder. They don't show anywhere near the detail that FP shows though.

What's the Wonder Woman one called? Ain't sure I've heard of that.

Also,'it wasn't until Flashpoint that I realized Nathan Fillian has been voicing Hal.

The Wonder Woman film (It's just called Wonder Woman) was I think one of the least successful of the animated offerings. Part of it was I think that the art design in the film was not the best of the series (imo). It wasn't bad but as with Wonder Woman's usual luck in film it just didn't do well.

WW actually got decent reviews by the critics. I was quite happy with it, but again, I chalk that up to NF.

As I understood it the film was well received but then the sales numbers came in. There was supposed to be a follow up film but DC has apparently scrapped it.

Wasn't to shabby, and was a lot more graphically violent then I expected. I still think of the DCA films Mask of the Phantasm is still my favorite, with New Frontier being my favorite that isn't an extension of Batman: TA.

The fight at the end of Superman/Batman: Apocalypse between Superman, Supergirl. and Darksied was pretty amazing.

Well, you might just get to see that again, due to the post credits part of Flashpoint. We see a boom tube opening above earth and parademons come flooding out. The next DC animated offering is called Justice League: War . You do the maths.

Well, the important thing is that the DC animated movies as a whole are superior to their marvel counterparts. The cartoon avengers movies were good, but they don't hold a candle to some DC ones and the next best was HvsW.

Agreed. I've found most of the Post X-Men Evolution Marvel offerings on tv and D2DVD lackluster myself but DC is doing a great job with theirs.

The Marvel stuff all seems far more kid friendly, which makes it tamer and less interesting I think.

IIRC the plan is that from now on the DC animated movies will be in a continuity closer/more similar to the current "New 52" continuity in the comics, much like how Flashpoint led to the comics reboot as well.

Which, well.. I ain't gonna lose any sleep over, but it's a sadder and colder world indeed when Tim Drake was never fully Robin and the JLI/JLE never happened.

We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Paradox was good. The deal with batman was awesome, and the hint at joker was even more awesome.

I want either a true knightfall film, or the death of the family. If they can be this violent and adult oriented, those two films can be done.

Also, red hood and the dark Knight returns were both amazing. With DKR being something I've waited a decade for, I was not disappointed in the least.

If you liked that you should read the whole story from Flashpoint: Batman - Knight of Vengeance.

A.) This is funny.
2.) Does anyone know what it's from? I've not seen it before.

Now I'm going to have to watch that. I thought I already had. But you wouldn't think you'd forget a scene like this one...
