Not true, unless that's new. When I wanted to change my name I was told no, and had to end up creating a whole new account to get the name change I wanted.

I was told you were allowed to request a change of name once and that was it.

I believe they let you have one change, but only if you meet certain criteria for a change in the first place; for example, someone who's just joined, has 10 posts, and wants a name change should honestly have spent a little more time thinking before creating the account, whereas a veteran of the forum who has been a regular user for several years might have matured enough to dislike a childish username.
There are probably more things taken into account when dealing with requests than simply whether or not they've had it done before.

I'd imagine that would only be a big issue if you continue to use the old account, as they dislike you using multiple accounts. In my case I stopped using the old account when I made the new one, except to answer a couple PMs that the old account received later.
