Hey, this is my Tau w/Ork allies list that I could use in a local Blood Chalice tournament, can anyone see any glaring holes in this list. This will be quite a competitive tournament and I am expecting some very nasty lists, so I am looking for good honest advice as to how how this stands in the competitive tournament scene ->

what are your plans with the 20man ork mobs? This list looks like a gunline and then you have those big mobs in there. They arent sturdy or fast enough to make it in to combat. I mean if your objective for them is just to draw fire away from everything else, I suppose that would be effective. However, Having run a naked 20boy mob against tau, I have seen 1 riptide destroy the whole mob in one turn. Well at least got them down below ten where they failed their leadership.
You already have a lot of ranged support in this list. To make the boyz really mean, see if you can get them in a battlewagon with a deff rolla. for 120 points each you can even kit them out with some big shootas.
The deff rolla will steam roll anything and everything and with AV14 in the front it will be a much more durable target. Also since it's open topped all the boys can fire from it.

You could probably save some points by dropping the 2nd ADL.
I'm not sure what the point of it is, are you trying to split your forces up to make your opponent choose where to assault?

First, I play orks. I have tau, but play them rarely. My suggestion is to spend your points on more tau.
DrG Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok I take it back. If you add Orks and you want big mobs going out to touch someone, I'd suggest a battle wagon w/DR and big shoota. Put a KFF in there and some shoota boyz. Roll 'em. Shoot 'em. Assault 'em. Repeat

I think the perfect Ork-as-allies is BikerBoss with NobBikerz. Borrow someone else's if you have to. 1 HQ and 1 Scoring Troop choice, does everything Tau doesn't. Perfect complement. 4+ Armor, 5++ Inv, 5+ FNP, WS 5, 5 Str. 5 attacks on the charge after Str 5 shooting, PK's! 2 wound models with T5.
Oh and the BikerBoss is T6 with 5 Str10 attacks, 6 on he charge.
24" Movement with TurboBoost, Tau crack open any vehicles, Nobz and Boss kill anything inside.

The only Orks I would bring with the Tau are....
-Wazdakka
-10 ork bikers
+1 ork biker nob
-PK, BP
All this for 495pts. That's a steal for 12 fast hard hitting Orks with tons of dakka. This helps the Tau bring the fight to the enemy. Assaulting the flank or fast hand-to-hand support where you need it the most, this is what they do best.
